It is wonderful to see the great publicity that Clay Aiken is receiving for his highly anticipated performance in “Bringing Broadway Home.” The One Night Performance is scheduled for June 21, 2010 and will be held at the Raleigh Memorial Auditorium.
On Tuesday, April 13th, two wonderful articles were published about the performance that will be a benefit concert celebrating 27 seasons of Broadway at the North Carolina Theatre.
WRAL, a major TV station in the Raleigh Triangle area published an article on WRAL.com. Their section called “Out and About” reports on things to do in the area.
Raleigh, N.C. — Broadway performers, including Clay Aiken and Sharon Lawrence, will headline a benefit concert for the North Carolina Theater on June 21, organizers announced Tuesday.
“Bringing Broadway Home” celebrates 27 seasons of Broadway in North Carolina by bringing together singers who have performed on the N.C. Theater stage. The event will be held at the Progress Energy Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Raleigh.
Aiken, a Raleigh native and ”American Idol” runner-up, is preparing to release his sixth album, Tried and True, this summer. He starred on Broadway in “Monty Python’s Spamalot.” In 1996, Aiken performed on the N.C. Theatre stage in “Shenandoah” and “1776.”
Lawrence, a four-time Emmy nominated actress, has appeared on several TV shows, including “NYPD Blue”, “Desperate Housewives” and “Monk.” In addition to her work on Broadway, Lawrence performed several roles on the N.C. Theatre stage and starred alongside Terrence Mann in the theatre’s first production, “Camelot,” in 1984.
Mann, who is currently starring on Broadway in “The Addams Family,” will also perform in the concert. The Tony-nominated performer has served as an actor, artistic director and director for many N.C. Theatre productions throughout the years. His Broadway career has spanned more than two decades, including roles in “Les Miserables” and Disney’s “ Beauty and the Beast.” Also joining the benefit are Lauren Kennedy and Quiana Parler.
Kennedy, a Raleigh native, has starred on Broadway in “Monty Python’s Spamalot,” and appeared in “Sunset Boulevard” with Glenn Close and in “Les Misérables.” Kennedy has been apart of a number of N.C. Theatre productions, most recently starring alongside country music singer Larry Gatlin in “Annie Get Your Gun.”
Parler, an accomplished singer, has performed on “The Tonight Show” with Jay Leno, “The Today Show” and “The Academy of Country Music Awards.” She debuted in 2008 as Effie in N.C. Theatre’s production of “Dreamgirls.”
Tickets range from $50 to $100, with a VIP option of $150 that includes an exclusive, one-hour pre-show reception and complimentary parking.
Tickets are on sale to N.C. Theatre subscribers this week, and go on sale to the general public on April 19. For tickets, call the box office at 919-831-6941, extensions 6943 or 6944.

On April 13th, they wrote a comprehensive article about the concert in Raleigh and included wonderful biographies of all the performers. Of all the articles posted on Tuesday, this one has the most information. The following is the paragraph they wrote about Clay.
Clay Aiken is a multi-platinum recording artist and is set to release his sixth album, Tried and True, this summer. I think it is wonderful that the media is picking up on this wonderful concert. Clay Aiken's name is certainly a draw, and with him being connected to the community theatres is just a good thing. Clay has always supported local arts, as that is where he got his start and has never forgotten it. In every concert, he would tell people to support their local arts. He is definately a treasure, and his community should certainly support him. He brings in lots of $$$ to the community, so it all works out. I wish I could go to this one, but just can't afford it. It will be great…

Sounds like this is going to be an amazing concert. Wish I could go and experience the talents of so many – especially Clay Aiken and Quiana Parler. Hoping that there will be some sort of recording of the event! Would love to see the concert filmed and released on DVD as a fundraiser. I'd buy it in a heartbeat!

Jaymes was sure right when she said the best is yet to come. It just keeps getting better and better all the time. Would love to head to Raleigh again for this one but it just isn't going to happen. Should be a wonderful concert and I like Sue's idea of the concert being filmed for a fundraiser.

The best is certainly yet to come. I wish I could go to this concert. It is getting a lot of publicity. If you go to the Broadway World Site you should leave a comment. There are only 4 comments..but they are all good. But the more comments that are there shows that there is a real interest in the event.
I'm glad to see all the publicity for this show. Hopefully it will be well attended and a lot of money will be raised.
