Clay Aiken – Who Plays Who??

When Clay Aiken was starring in Spamalot at the Shubert Theatre on Broadway, it was fun to meet and follow the actors that shared the stage with Clay.  Some of the cast mates were veteran Broadway performers and some were just getting a start on the Great White Way.

During the past week, I took a bit of time each day to check what some of the Spamalot Cast are doing at this time.  BUT…to make it more interesting, lets see if you can figure out who fits each role.

Roles

  • Member of the 2nd National Tour of Billy Elliot (rehearsals started on 9/7/10)
  • Filmed the movie The Bounty Hunter starring Jennifer Aniston
  • Played P.J. Sullivan in the musical Robin and The Seven Hoods at Old Globe Theatre in San Diego  (7-30 to 8-29)
  • Starred as Cornelius Hackle in Hello Dolly in summer.  Will be in Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, opening 10/14 at Drury Lane Oakbrook (Chicago).
  • Starring as Edna Turnblad in Hairspray at the Paper Mill Playhouse in New Jersey from September 22 to October 24.
  • Playing the role of Count Carl-Magnus Malcolm in A Little Night Music at the Walter Kerr Theatre (Broadway).
  • In How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying as Bud Frump from 9-24 to 11-28 at the Goodspeed Opera House in East Haddam, Ct.
  • Starring as Reverend Samuel Gardner in Shaw’s Mrs. Warren’s Profession at the American Airlines Theatre in New York.  Previews started on 9-3…will run until 11-21.
  • Starred as the Witch in Into The Woods at the Regent’s Open Air Theatre in London – summer 2010.

Actors

  1. Matthew Crowle – dancing nun-understudy for Tom Deckman
  2. Bradley Dean – Galahad, Black Knight (2nd run)
  3. Tom Deckman – Prince Herbert, Historian, Not Dead Fred
  4. Wally Dunn – Bedevere, Mother of Dennis
  5. David Hibbard – Patsy
  6. Rick Holmes – Lancelot, Tim, French Taunter, Knight of Ni
  7. Michael Siberry – King (2nd run)
  8. Christopher Sieber – Galahad, Black Knight
  9. Hannah Waddingham – Lady of The Lake

How did you do??  Some of the roles will be easy to figure out, but I think there are some surprises.  I tried to find information about Merle Dandridge, Jonathan Hadary, and Brad Oscar, but I was unsuccessful.  If you know what they are currently doing, let us know.

I hope you have fun with this and let us know how you successful you were in figuring this out!  Did you see Clay in Spamalot?  Maybe this video will remind you of how good he was as Sir Robin.

  1. The lists don't match up. I saw Rick Holmes here in San Diego, he is PJ Sullivan in Robin + 7 Hoods… a new musical headed for Broadway.

    • Jo-Anne…….I guess I didn't make it clear……..I was hoping to see if people could match the performer with the role. If I put them in the same order, it wouldn't be a match-up!!

  2. Well…….I would guess that Hannah was the one that played at the Regent Park Open-Air Theatre. I would love to have seen her as a witch!! Am I right?? Will you be posting the answers over the week-end??

    Again….love the blog!!

  3. The only one I know is Bradley Dean (and I guess I kind of cheated on that one) Fun game! I'll look forward to seeing the answers!

  4. I'll have to look at this again later, I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed watching the best of Spam video. He looked like he was enjoying it and I miss seeing him.

  5. I hope you are soon going to post the answers to your quiz!
    (I am clueless!)
Thanks for the "best of Spam" video….what a lovely walk down memory lane. That was so much fun.
    I miss seeing him too!

  6. Musicfan,

Thnx for the Clay Train journey back to Spamalot. I've been in birthday party mode all day and am mostly clueless on your quiz. Enjoyed the Clay Aiken "Spamalot" video rewind, however.

    Have a great weekend!

  7. Musicfan..loved watching the video of Spamalot again…. Clay was absolutely wonderful in that, as well as all the actors that we came to know. I really don't know where the others are now…I found myself drawn to Rick Holmes (gosh he is so talented and funny) Tom Deckman. The rest are great, but those 2 just stand out. I did see Jonathan Hadary in Toronto in the Spamalot Road show just after he left Broadway. Talked to him at the side door as well…Nice man, he thought Clay was a great guy!!!!

  8. Thanks for the memories of Spamalot. I wish I could have gone to see it. But, I really enjoyed the video Best Of Spamalot. Clay was great in his role of Sir Robin. Love to see him dancing in his white tux…he is just so cute!!!!!!

  9. All the details of the actors in Spamalot was amazing! I really actually miss seeing Clay in Spamalot! Such fun! My first time in NY. The man go do anything.

  10. I like getting updates on Clay's Spamalot co-stars. I'm not familiar with several of the roles you mentioned, so I'm not even going to try and guess.
