Clay Aiken- Looking Back- Moving Forward!

Well…..it has started!!  Check out the following graphic.  Isn’t it nice to see??

We all would love to hear Clay Aiken performing Unchained Melody on the AC radio stations.  Well, devoted fan, MagicalMusic,  decided to do something about it.  She requested the song and  received the following e-mail from the station:

So glad to have you as a listener of Ez~! We’ll play Clay Aiken’s “Unchained Melody” just now and trust you’re able to be tuned.
We’ll check out others by Clay Aiken and will be glad to add some.
Again, thank you for being with us tonight.
Best,
Lane and Martha in Atlanta

Thank you, Magical………you got the ball rolling!!!

As we look towards the end of the year, we cannot help but think of the exciting things that happened for Clay this year.  It is a time of reflection.  I thought it might be interesting if everyone took a moment and let us know their TOP Clay moments for 2010.  Maybe there is just one, but maybe you have a Top Ten List.  What ever it is, lets see if we can put together a list of 2010 Top Clay Aiken moments.

For me:

1.  That “moment” in Unchained Melody…..the key change just builds to an amazing place…..

2.  Bringing Broadway Home…….why did I make the decision to stay at home that night?  It was amazing.

3.  Clay’s beautiful performance of Both Sides Now will be something I will remember forever.

4.  Reno……Hammer pants…….Clay was so proud to show off the outfit, including the bling around his waist!!   AND….I was there!!

5.  Amazed and excited that Linda Eder was on the stage with Clay in Raleigh.  I have been lucky enough to see her in concert twice before her appearance in Raleigh.

WAIT—I need to stop.  I could go on all night!!  Help me out….What are your moments to remember?

  1. Oh gosh…so many memories from this year…
Loved Bringing Broadway Home in Raleigh…"Home" "Leavings Not The Only Way To Go".. Clay is absolutely, without a doubt…meant to be on Broadway… Amazing…

Timeless Tour – with Ruben, hammer pants (yup…3 pairs) microphone falling down Clay's drawers in Windsor…(I was there in the front row)

PBS taping…I will never forget…and that "Unchained Melody" that took us all by surprise and left us speachless!!! WOW!!!! I could go on and on as well…but will let others share…This has been fun..Thanks Musicfan… Will start requesting UM soon on A/C stations around Toronto.

  2. Ah, the memories! Some of my top favorite moments – 2010.

    1. HRC Gala – The "It's About Damn Time" speech.

    2. Bringing Broadway Home event – Those Magic Changes.

    3. Timeless Tour –
    a.) Clay's pride – Reno hammer pants.
    b.) Clay's boastfulness – Chautauqua Casey kiss.
c.) Clay's Windsor mike drop – into his drawers.
    d.) Clay's part – Windsor Footloose song & dance – H.O.T.

    4. Tried And True – PBS special, CD, & DVD
    a.) Unchained Melody
    b.) Suspicious Minds
c.) What Kind Of Fool Am I?

  3. I can think of some very nice beautiful moments, such as the new version of UM in Raleigh at the taping but the moment that will be forever locked in my mind is Arlene "molesting" Clay in Chicago. Clay made the most of the moment and it had to be the funniest thing I've seen in all the years I've been following Clay. It was a laugh at his expense but he played right along with it. I don't think I'll ever forget that moment in time …. and I doubt that Clay will either. lol

  4. Gosh all of the above times, and how about ARLENE in Chicago.
That had to be the funniest unplanned bit of all the shows.

  5. These are some of my favorite memories of 2010: The TnT Recording of the Concert in Raleigh for PBS. I wasn't there…but, heard about the spectacular note in UM.

Bringing Back Broadway – Him singing "These Magic Changes."

Nat'l Inclusion Project Gala – His very beautiful arrangement of "Both Sides Now." Hope he sings this at the TnT Concerts.

Timeless Tour -"More Than A Feeling"
"Footloose" – His hawt dancing and singing.
"Don't Go Breaking My Heart" – The kiss between Clay and Casey.

Tried and True Tour-Chicago – "Crying" – The singing and chemistry between Clay and Casey.
    "I'll Take Romance"- Phew…thudworthy
"Breaking Up Is Hard To Do"- Hawt
    "Misty" – Romantic and dreamy

  6. Best moments of 2010 for me:

Being in Raleigh on March 12, 2010 and seeing him turn around and start to sing "Mack the Knife".

Hearing "the note" at that same concert when he sang "Unchained Melody".

Getting that beautiful CD and going for a drive so I could listen undisturbed. I still get goosebumps when I hear his lower register as he starts to sing "What Kind of Fool Am I".

Sitting just a few feet from the stage at the Hampton Beach Casino and having him look directly into my eyes—-EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!

Having him come to the bus after that concert–no hand touch, but just seeing him and hearing all of the excitement from the crowd was enough.

So many wonderful memories–have barely scratched the surface.

Here's to 2011 and many more memories to come

  7. timeless tour video when ruben sang opera when ruben was a minister to clay when clay droped the mickraphone in his drawyers

  8. My favorite moment was also "the Hammer pants" in Reno Nevada, as always Clay Aiken was funny , and that concert was the only one that I could attend in all of 2010.

  9. I am loving all these memories, they are all wonderful. One of my favorite moments was being so proud of him while watching Tried and True on my PBS station. What a great year. Here's to a wonderful 2010 and best wishes for 2011 🙂

  10. This was a great year to be a Clay fan! I loved the OMG concert for the PBS taping. My favorite parts were UM and the Linda Eder duet with Clay-wonderful! I was in a Clay induced daze after hearing UM for the first time. The arrangement-unbelievable-thanks Ben.
Loved hearing Clay sing "Those Magic Moments" at Bringing Broadway Home. I really wish I could have been there. Loved the summer tour. The friendship between Clay and Ruben was so evident – their singing and joking with one another was so much fun abd a great time.
Lastly, Clay singing "Both Sides Now" at the Gala. I had tears running down my face-just beautiful.
There were so many great , wonderful moments this year. It was a very good year!

  11. I was thrilled that my request was successful. They have played several other Clay songs today. I hope this is just the start of a lot of airplay for Clay.

  12. These are 10 standout memories for me from 2010 in no particular order.

    1. The PBS concert live taping
    2. The preacher skit
    3. The build up and the note in "Unchained Melody" at the PBS taping
    4. "Unchained Melody" on The View
    5. The OutQ interview
    6. "Both Sides Now"
    7. Hearing Linda Eder duet with Clay live
    8. Listening to Tried and True as soon as it was available on iTunes
    9. Asheville Star 104.3 interview with Ruben
    10. A Day in the Life photos

  13. MagicalMusic…….good for you for getting things started.

I don't know if I can choose only a few moments in 2010. I actually didn't like the Arlene moment. I got the impression that Clay was a bit uncomfortable, but made the most of the uncomfortable situation.

Reno pants and bling was so funny.
The Day In the Life Photo shoot was amazing
Ruben, singing opera on the Timeless Tour. I watched Clays face!!
Both Sides Now – you could hear a pin drop in the audience.

And I have not mentioned the PBS Concert, or the BBH concert (awesome)…or the many times I have listened to T&T.

    I think I had better stop…..

Many thanks for all that you have done this year at CANN. I love reading here.

  14. The best Clay moment of 2010 for me is when my daughter and I were channel "hopping" and stumbled upon "Tried and True Live" on PBS!! We didn't have internet until later this year, and I was completely "out in the dark" as to what was happening in my favorite artist's world. I couldn't have been more excited for him! I immediately went out and bought the CD and spent the rest of the year loving every moment of this remarkable man's current gift to us! 🙂 LOVED the "reunion" of Clay with Ruben…and yes, Clay does sing the song better! 🙂

  15. One of my special memories of Clay this year was treating myself to an early birthday present by driving to Raleigh to watch the taping of the PBS special. Then in August enjoying Clay and Ruben in Lancaster on the Timeless Tour. Getting daily CANN emails from you wonderful women makes each day a special Clay day!

  16. There were many best moments in 2010 …thanks to all fans who helped me updated on Clay through Clacks…
thank you very much ..you are all very wonderfull friends…
The best of the best moment was…when I received T&T deluxe CD & DVD ..then able to play it on my DVD player after worried for 5 months while waiting the package from Amazon (worried that it could not be played with my player due to different DVD region between US & Indonesia).
sooo …when it played nicely …. it was like a huge-huge… sunshine all over my body…it was sooo nice watching him on my TV rather than on my lap top (even though I still love him on my laptop :D).
That's my best moment …. I wish I can be in one of his concert, but US is so far away.. so I just wait the clacks then…
