The National September 11 Memorial is a tribute of remembrance and honor to the nearly 3,000 people killed in the terror attacks of September 11, 2001 at the World Trade Center site, near Shanksville, Pa., and at the Pentagon, as well as the six people killed in the World Trade Center bombing in February 1993.
The Memorial’s twin reflecting pools are each nearly an acre in size and feature the largest man-made waterfalls in the North America. The pools sit within the footprints where the Twin Towers once stood. Architect Michael Arad and landscape architect Peter Walker created the Memorial design selected from a global design competition that included more than 5,200 entries from 63 nations.
The names of every person who died in the 2001 and 1993 attacks are inscribed into bronze panels edging the Memorial pools, a powerful reminder of the largest loss of life resulting from a foreign attack on American soil and the greatest single loss of rescue personnel in American history.
Today, I dedicate this article to Rahma Salie and Michael Theodoridis. These two young people were on the way to California to participate in my son and daughter-in-law’s wedding. They, and their unborn baby will always hold a special place in our hearts.

Thank you musicfan for the lovely, poignant tribute to 9/11. As a New Yorker, this day will
always stay vivid in my mind. I visited the site only days after, and walked ankle deep in
debris and office papers from the fallen towers. The sight was indescribable and the silence
was eerie. My son lost 2 former classmates who were firefighters, my doctor lost his
son, my sister-in-law's cousin also a firefighter, never came back.
Yes, we are moving forward, but never forget our fallen brothers and sisters who innocently
went to work that day and didn't return home.
This date will never be forgotten – The Shanksville Pa. Site is very near where I grew up in Pa. and
that plane flew over the Cleveland Airport and turned around heading back to Pa. – I live in Cleveland
now and at the time of that terrible disaster – so I do feel a connection to that sorrow filled time.
Love and prayers to you and all that have a special remembrance of 9/11. It's safe to say we all are connected and touched!
The first plane flew directly into the floors where the company I worked for had offices. We lost over 200 colleagues that day, some I had never met and some I had worked with and gotten to know, all tragically. As the names came through, the emotions ran the gamut – anger, fear, sorrow. Eleven years later, I still think about the people I knew who lost their lives and pray for their families. I also pray for the rest of us.
I have wanted to tell you how beautiful your videos are and what a beautiful person you are. have a neice who was working across the street from the pentagon and a nephew in Greensberg, Pa. If #93 had been in the air 1 second longer it would have hit his campus. Im sorry you knew people hurt on 9-11.I will be in Atl City on Dec1. I hope I can meet you someday.

I think this affects people all around the world, and they will never forget the horror of that day. To those that lost friends, family, my thoughts and prayers are with you. i was at work when 911 happend i saw the tragity the horror fear sadness anger and eleven years later i do still think about the familys who lost there lives thank you for shareing your 911 story it is verry impotant that we never forget
