Clay Aiken – Celebrating 27 Seasons of Broadway

Today is June 21st. Do you remember what Clay Aiken was doing three years ago on June 21st? Think:

  • Raleigh
  • Memorial Auditorium
  • Beautiful Broadway songs

OK…I bet you remember now. It was Clay’s performance at Bringing Broadway Home. This event was a benefit concert to celebrate 27 seasons of Broadway at the North Carolina Theater. Lauren Kennedy, Terrance Mann, Sharon Lawrence, and Quiana Parler joined Clay on stage for this remarkable concert. Each artist had performed with the North Carolina Theatre in previous seasons.

Clay opened the concert with “Home” from The Wiz. It was so appropriate because this show was all about the homegrown talent from Raleigh. Clay also sang Mack The Knife, What Kind of Fool Am I, This is the Moment, and Those Magic Changes. He also sang duets with Quiana and Lauren. One of the highlights of the evening was Imagine by John Lennon. The entire ensemble joined together in an amazing performance of the wonderful song.

From all the reviews, the program was amazing and each singer brought so much to the stage.

Did you get to attend this concert? This was one that I didn’t get to attend and I am so sorry. I know I would have enjoyed it. Thank goodness for CLACK!!

  1. I don't think I ever watched "Imagine" sung by everyone. Imagine that! No really, why? All the rest of the songs Clay sings are on my CD's in my car so I hear them at least 2 or 3 times a week. Ahhhh, he always soothes my soul when he sings. Love him! Thanks musicfan <3 .

  2. Thank you so much for these video's. I haven't seen this performance in quite a while. He kills on "These Magic Changes." I wish he would do another one of these shows from Broadway..or, better yet, get a part in a big Broadway Show.

  3. I didn't attend this show but I love all of the music from it!! It would have been another great
experience to have seen it . I think Clay loves performing in Raleigh!

  4. I didn’t get to see the show but I’ve watched those videos many times. Clay was awesome that night as well as the others. I’ve loved Terrance Mann since he was the original broadway Javert and Rum Tum Tugger.

  5. Clay was pure perfection that night. I have watched these videos so many times. Clay belongs on stage…. Thanks Musicfan…it's always great to watch them again. I sure miss his voice!!!!!

  6. Has it been 3 years already since that night? I would have loved to have been there. Thankfully there's video so all the fans could experience those wonderful performances.
