Clay Aiken – Thanks, Love And A Special Anniversary!

Home, Sweet Home!  I loved every moment of the Champions Gala,

but it is always good to be home!

I keep remembering the excitement and fun of the Gala.  Of course the National Inclusion Project was the star of the week-end, however, Clay Aiken is still a large part of the celebration.

On Saturday night, Clay thanked the the audience repeatedly for their support of the project.  He was not alone…each staff member thanked us also. As the evening came to a close, Clay remarked how much it meant to see so many people in the room that had been a part of the Project from the very beginning.  He also commented that besides our support of the project, we seemed to support him as well…through thick and thin, “come what may.”

So, as “the calendar flips pages into 2014 and our direction and course veers in a different direction,”…”this final song, this moment is all for you!”

Clay then sang the beautiful song, You Are The Song.  With only a spotlight on Clay, the performance was a masterpiece of beautiful music, an amazing voice, and a huge amount of love. A video of pictures played over Clay’s head and Clay even turned at a moment to watch some of the video himself…then he silently left!

I thought you might want to see these two photos.

I have many pictures of the silent auction.  If Photobucket cooperates, I will get them up later today.  It was a fun time!

 To Clay Aiken

Clay Aiken’s debut album, Measure of A Man was released on October 14, 2003, five months after the conclusion of the second season of American Idol. The album debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 and was, with 613,000 copies sold in its first week, the highest-selling debut for a solo artist since Snoop Dogg’s “Doggystyle” in December 1993. It received a Multi-Platinum certification November 17, 2003.

What is your favorite song from Measure of A Man?

  1. Well I loved every song on MOAM…still DO! I LOVED the last song Clay sang at the Gala. Imagine the surprise as the photo's were shown during that song and seeing one of the photo's taken of us in Ogunquit! ME and three great friends flashed on the screen. Whaaaat??? How'd they get that??? Why did they choose it??? Jerry Aiken said "uh, have your heard of Facebook?" Just STUNNED to see our photo!!

  2. I love MOAM too, and how cool that your picture flash on the screen at the Gala!!

I'm admit I'm scared of what Clay's new direction and course might be. I really wish he hadn't announced it so now we have to worry while we wait to find out what it is.

  3. I love all the songs as well from MOAM…but then again…I love all of Clay's songs. I especially love "When You Say You Love Me". Happy and bouncy.

I didn't make the Gala this year. Would have loved to see the Video that they put together to thank the fans. Maybe they will put that up on the NIP Facebook.?????

Glad you all had a wonderful time. I want to see our Ad. We put one in the Programme from the "Claynadians" & "Toronto Clunch Bunch". I haven't seen it yet.

  4. I agree, every song is special to me in "Measure Of A Man" also – hearing Clay sing those songs
at the VIP Reception was amazing and his new rendition of Invisible made it a whole new song!!!!
I found myself in one of the photos at the Reception was a total surprise – just one more of many
surprises the whole weekend long!!!! 🙂 <3

  5. I also love every song on MOAM but my No. 1 favorite is "Run To Me". He did not sing this song that often when he was promoting MOAM so I was really surprized when he did on Friday night. It was one Gala I will forever remember as he wished me happy birthday.

  6. Congratulations to CANN for the acknowledgment at the bottom left of the back page of the program! I love the whole MOAM album, but the song I listen to (and sing along with) most is No More Sad Songs. Glad to hear you got home safe and sound.

    • Thanks, Emily…Actually, the back cover was the ad that we placed to help support the National Inclusion Project. This is the 3rd year we have done this!

  7. What a beautiful ad from CANN. Thanks for posting the covers!

And, congratulations to Clay Aiken for the 10th anniversary of Measure of A Man! What an amazing album and career!

  8. Love the back cover!! I know Clay appreciates the support.

I still remember the excitement of October 14 ten years ago! Couldn't wait for school to be over so I could go to the store and pick up my copy (which I had reserved). Then I took the long way home so I could listen in the car!! Have been listening ever since and don't plan to ever stop!!!

  9. I Survived You is probably my favorite MOAM song but I love them all. I'm so happy the Gala was a great time for everyone.

I totally support Clay whatever he does but that "final song" statement (even though I'm sure it was just for the evening) scares me a little. I guess we'll just hope for the best and see what will be with the new direction. 🙂
