Clay Aiken – Our Flag Represents Freedom!

People across the United States celebrate Flag Day on June 14 each year to honor the United States flag and to commemorate the flag’s adoption.

What do people do?

Flag Day falls within National Flag Week, a time when Americans reflect on the foundations of the nation’s freedom. The flag of the United States represents freedom and has been an enduring symbol of the country’s ideals since its early days. During both events, Americans also remember their loyalty to the nation, reaffirm their belief in liberty and justice, and observe the nation’s unity.

Many people in the United States honor this day by displaying the American flag at homes and public buildings. Other popular ways of observing this holiday include: flag-raising ceremonies; Flag Day services; school quizzes and essay competitions about the American flag; musical salutes; street parades; and awards for special recognition.

Symbols

The American flag, also nicknamed as “Old Glory” or “star-spangled banner”, has changed designs over the centuries. It consists of 13 equal horizontal stripes of red (top and bottom) alternating with white, with a blue rectangle in the canton bearing 50 small, white, five-pointed stars. Each of the 50 stars represent the 50 states in the United States and the 13 stripes represent the original 13 colonies that became the first states in the Union.

Famous Flag People

Betsy Ross was a seamstress who made clothes for George Washington.  In June, 1776, Washington approached her to make the country’s first flag and the rest is history.

Francis Scott Key Inspired by the British bombardment of Fort McHenry, Francis Scott Key penned the lyrics to our national anthem as he witnessed the event as British rockets whizzed in the air while our American Flag flew in the breeze.

Clay Aiken

Is Clay Aiken celebrating Flag Day?

Well, we don’t know for sure. But wherever he is and whatever he is doing, I am sure he will show respect for his country and its flag.

Just a quick note:  Did you check your e-mail on Friday?  If you didn’t, you might want to check it out immediately…even check your spam folder.  Team Clay sent out  an e-mail that I am sure you will want to read.  I know that the team tried to reach as many loyal fans as they could, but if you haven’t been in touch with the Official Fan Club or Clay’s campaign, it might not be there.  If so, please let me know so I can help.

ALL IS WELL!!

  3. I didn't get the "email" either. I was on the Clay fan club but I can't remember what the name of the site was. Could you help? I would love to read the Email. Thanks

  4. Happy Flag Day!!! Thanks for all you do. It is fun listening about Clays new adventure. I did not receive the email. I am a member of the fan club and made many, many phone calls for Clays campaign. Trying to get on the fan club page and I keep getting a error message. Can you help me? Don't want to miss any exciting new news. By the way there are a lot of friendly people in North Carolina. Everyone was very pleasant when I talked to them about giving Clay there support.

  5. I didn't get the email either and I'm a member of the OFC…it must be having issues because I can't log in…says invalid password..did what they said to do and still get invalid password. Got in yesterday with no problem what so ever. I too have donated to the campaign, have gotten all of the ClayforCongress emails from Clay but not this one, so they have to have my email…wish I knew what is going on! By the way I love your site..you do a great job keeping us informed of what is going on with Clay plus other great things. I hope you know how much you and this site is appreciated! 6. Hi Martha,

Great blog as always. I’ve always received the emails but I didn’t on Friday. I checked my spam as well but nada.

It seems that I once again have been booted from the OFC so I guess I will have to call on Monday. Marian asked me to post her birthday blog for her and I tried several times and then tried to post it as a regular post on the board. It probably was too long and so got picked up by the spam filters and I got booted.

Love to know what the email was about as I’m used to getting them and miss them when I don’t. I can’t even check the OFC as it might be there.

Keep up the great work and thanks for everything.

  7. Oh great, I just lost my post! This just isn't my week.

I tried to post Marian's birthday blog on the OFC for her but I couldn't get it to post. I then tried to post it in the usual chat thread several times but got booted out. I haven't been able to get back in since.

I didn't receive the email on Friday and I did check my spam file. It wasn't there either. I think I've only missed one other from them. I certainly would appreciate getting a copy of this from you Martha as I know I am on their email list.

While I'm here, I just want to thank you for your daily news. It's one email I look forward to every day and have for how many years????

    Take care and thanks again.
