“Interesting” hair from both guys!!

Wait…Dee Snider? …the frontman for Twisted Sister, the man who asked Clay to sing Luck Be A Lady with him for his album? YES…The lovable Dee Snider has written a very special Broadway Show for Christmas.  I had to find out more about it!

Dee Snider’s Rock & Roll Christmas Tale began preview performances in Chicago on November 4th at the Broadway Playhouse. The official opening of the Musical is November 19th…and, according to the above tweets, some of Dee’s good friends will be there to help celebrate the event.

In an interview with Chris Jones of the Chicago Tribune, Dee said he sees the show as:

…filling a weirdly neglected niche in the oft-lucrative realm of seasonal American entertainment — the rock ‘n’ roll Christmas show, aimed squarely at aging 1980s rockers and their kids. Or in some cases now, grandkids.

According to the website, Broadway in Chicago:

DEE SNIDER’S ROCK & ROLL CHRISTMAS TALE tells the story of Däisy Cütter, a heavy metal bar band looking to make it big even though the 80s are LONG over. This year, these four guys are ready to take the ultimate step and, in mythic rock tradition, sell their souls to the devil in exchange for success beyond their wildest metal dreams! But every time they try to seal the infernal pact, their head-banging anthems turn into warm-hearted carols. Soon these rockers are forced to realize their dreams of stardom are no match for the Christmas spirit. Dee Snider, infamous lead singer of Twisted Sister, has created and stars in a VERY funny, VERY rocking and (sshhh!) VERY sweet new holiday musical, guaranteed to rock your holiday.

According to the Tribunes, Chris Jones:

The Chicago show, which has an Equity cast and is something of a low-rent pre-Broadway tryout, was born when Snider and Yonover were hanging around Donald Trump’s “Celebrity Apprentice” enterprise. Snider says the show had true origins in his idea for a “Twisted Christmas”-type concept album…

From Scott C. Morgan at the Daily Herald:

Snider insists that his “Rock & Roll Christmas Tale” is a profanity-free family show inspired in part by “It’s a Wonderful Life,” even though it includes an exorcism and a satanic blood pact.

I don’t know about the rest of you, but I would love to see this light-hearted show that sounds as though it is lots of fun.  I am glad that Clay will be there for the official opening to support his good friend.

I wish I was attending a Clay Aiken Christmas Show…but… I will be attending 2 different concerts

1.  Chanticleer Christmas at St Ignatius Church in San Francisco…If you have never heard this group, give it a try. Chanticleer is a full-time male classical vocal ensemble.

2.  And, for my 7 year old grandkids, we are attending Sing You A Merry Christmas at Grace Cathedral.  Sing along with your favorite Christmas carols as the toys of St. Nicholas’s workshop lead you on an extraordinary journey, filling childen, young and old, with the joys of the season.

Will you be attending a Christmas show or concert this year?

  1. So nice that Clay is supportive of his friend Dee, hope Clay is doing well, wonder what he's up to now.

    Thanks Musicfan. xox

  2. Wonderful to hear that Dee's Christmas Show is doing well.

We plan on attending several Christmas Concerts this year. Two of them, one a Band Extravaganza and the other a children's choir include family members..the most enjoyable kind of Christmas shows.

I also love Chanticleer. Aren't they just wonderful?

  3. Love how these guys support each other. Dee's show sounds interesting. I won't be seeing any Christmas shows. Actually, the only Christmas shows I've seen are Clay's. He's spoiled me for anything else. Lol. It's like xmas music, nothing touches me more than Clay's voice.

  4. I hope the weather in Chicago will cooperate for opening night. Glad to hear that Clay will be able to support Dee by attending. I have tickets to 'A Christmas Carol' and 'Songs of the Season' in Dec. Of course, I'll be listening to Clay's Christmas albums including 'What Are You Doing New Year's Eve' on 'Crooner's Christmas'. Does everyone know about this album? It includes Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Johnny Mathis, Bing Crosby, Perry Como, Dean Martin Nat "King" Cole, Andy Williams and our very own Clay Aiken.
