Clay Aiken – Summer Solstice 2020

In 2020, the June solstice is Saturday, June 20, at 5:44 P.M. EDT. So…today marks the official beginning of summer in the Northern Hemisphere. The Summer Solstice is the day with the longest period of sunlight.

That means it’s time to enjoy vacations, great weather, pools, baseballs, and everything else that goes along with the summer months!

WAIT A MINUTE!

We can’t do all these exciting things now…We are in the middle of a serious pandemic that will keep us home more than out having fun.  What should we do?

I decided to visit The Old Farmer’s Almanac.  It has lots of information that is both educational and fun. Maybe they have some fun things for us to do.

Did you know that many places celebrate Midsummer Day. It is on June 24th. Folks celebrated by feasting, dancing, singing, and preparing for the hot summer days ahead. Historically, this day marks the midpoint of the growing season, halfway between planting and harvest.  SO…check out your garden and see if you can make a meal from your garden!

According to the Farmer’s Almanac:

Looking for a unique way to celebrate the solstice? How about a virtual trip to Stonehenge? For centuries, people have flocked to Wiltshire, England, to visit Stonehenge—a mysterious prehistoric monument. See more about this ancient site. This year, due to the coronavirus, the in-person event has been canceled, but live coverage will capture the best views of Stonehenge, allowing everyone to connect with this spiritual place at all once—from the comfort of home.  Want to watch?

Go strawberry picking. Enjoy a big bowl of strawberries and cream on the solstice. Celebrate the beginning of summer by eating the first strawberries of the season. Indulging in some strawberries and cream is the perfect way to celebrate the June solstice.

It all sounds good, but I can think of something that will make me even more happy…how about some beautiful music from my favorite singer, Clay Aiken.  Fortunately, I have loads of recorded songs and can find wonderful videos of the talented Mr. Aiken.

Besides that, I will listen each week to Clay’s Podcast, How The Heck Are We Gonna Get Along.  Clay is a very good host on the program so I will let Politicon know that I enjoy the program.

AND…if we are lucky, maybe Clay will send us a hello as we all celebrate Summer together!

~~~~~~~
I found one of the very best videos ever to end this blog.  It actually brought tears to my eyes.  I hope you all will watch.
Thank you, Clay!
Do you have any ideas for summer?
And
Thank you to the Farmer’s Almanac for such great info.
  3. This video brought tears to my eyes, also. We've had so much fun along the way supporting this marvelous man, with his heavenly voice, and meeting so many wonderful people!! I sure miss those times. Thanks so much for helping us reminisce each day!!
  4. Had my strawberries & cream yesterday. Bought one of the small watermelons at the store today and cut it up. Couldn't believe how sweet it is! It is really summer now. How I wish Clay was still touring each summer and bringing us so much laughter & beautiful music.
