Clay Aiken – A Short List

How many American Idol contestants have had the opportunity to star in two TV specials?  I am sure the list is very short, but on the top is Clay Aiken.

I would imagine there are many different emotions that evolve when you work as a star in a TV special…excitement, concern, happiness, frustration, pride, fear of failure…yes…it has got to be exciting, but a bit scary too.

The following video introduces Clay Aiken as the star of his PBS Special, Tried & True.  Watching this interesting video shows that being the star of a TV special  is a lot more than just showing up and performing.

Did you see both of Clay’s TV specials?

Did you see the PBS special live?

  1. Yes, I saw both Specials and did see the PBS Special live – it was fantastic! So great to make plans for something that we had no idea what would be going on!With Clay you knew it would be worth it, though – so off we went and it was so much fun – Clay’s Unchained Melody was out of this world! Such a blessing to be able to attend the PBS Tried and True live!

    Thank you for the memories!

  2. Oh yes, I watched it on PBS andI bought tspecial on DVD! I brought the show to my mom and she loved it! Thank you, CANN for sharing! Happy Weekend everyone!

  3. We did see the PBS special in person in NC. What an exciting time that was! Have the DVDs for both specials so I can enjoy them time after time. I agree with Marlene that Unchained Melody was perfection. I always loved the Righteous Brothers singing that song, but then it became a Clay song forever.

  4. I definitely was privileged to attend the PBS Special live and loved every minute of it!! Listening to the power of Clay's voice and remembering how touched and drawn in we all were (and are) it makes me sad lately, with all the craziness going on, that his singing voice is silent.
Thanks for all the memories!! Wish he would be able to give us some new music and keep that voice helping us through these trying times.
