Clay Aiken – Things You Need To Know!

I want to take a moment and let you know some of the inside workings at CANN.  As many of you know we recently changed servers.  There were internal problems and our resident computer expert thought we might be happier making a change.

There are many things that are going well.  Things seem to run more smoothly and we are “almost” happy.

But, whenever you make a big change there are little things that catch up with you.  Unfortunately, we have had two “blackouts.”  With no warning, CANN has been down.  Fortunately, our “techie” attacks the problem and it is fixed rather quickly.  We are working hard to make sure this doesn’t happen again.  However, if it does, I hope you will try to visit again.  We are here to stay!!

Another unfortunate problem that came from changing servers is that I lost my entire administrative e-mail account.  I have lost all contact with all the people that have contacted me.  I feel horrible as I owe some pictures and information to people and I don’t have their e-mail.  If you are one of those people or someone who would like to request something, please e-mail me again.  The account is ready and waiting for your message. You can e-mail me at  musicfan@claynewsnetwork.com

One of the things that I am most proud about CANN is that we try to keep to the facts.  We go out of our way to verify that everything that we post is correct.  On Wednesday, a poster came on the ClayBoard and reported that Clay was scheduled for a TV appearance in July.  As exciting as this would be, I cannot post this as news.  First, this was a new member of the board and no source of the information was given, even after many requests.  Secondly, Clay’s name is not listed on the website for the program. And, finally, we have no confirmation from Team Clay.  I always remember that Clay has told us more than once that we should not believe everything we read unless we hear it from him or his team.

I am hoping that when I wake up in the morning I will be re-writing this blog to pass along the confirmed appearance.  I even hope so much that I requested 2 tickets for the show.  However, at this time, all I will say is:  “ I miss Clay and can’t wait to see him on TV soon.”

Finally, a bit of interesting Broadway news…

HOW TO SUCCEED IN BUSINESS WITHOUT REALLY TRYING is going on a two-day hiatus today, July 7 and Friday, July 8.  This is to accommodate Daniel Radcliffe‘s previously scheduled Harry Potter promotional obligations in the UK. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2 premieres in Trafalgar Square in London on July 7.

According to HollywoodNews.com  Warner Brothers had to buy out two nights of shows so Radcliffe could join in the London festivities.

It is amazing that the show would rather cancel the shows than put in an understudy for Daniel.  Does that mean that the main purpose of people coming to the show is to see Daniel?  If so, it shows that he is a huge Broadway star!

If you could, would you go see Daniel Radcliffe on Broadway?

Clay Aiken – News As It Happens!

Saturday, June 25th, 2011

This is Clay Aiken News Network.  Our goal has and will always be to keep you updated on all the Clay Aiken news as it happens.  We have also tried to keep up on topics that are important in Clay’s professional life.

Recently, I have found it more of a challenge to present new and different topics so today we are going off track a bit.  I hope you don’t mind.  Tomorrow we will be back to Clay Aiken…I would like to think that Clay might chuckle at some of the obsolete gadgets, but he’s probably too young to remember some of them

I was on the Internet yesterday, looking for information about the changing field of music.  I was trying to find different opinions about the CD and why many people see it as obsolete. But…somehow I got off on another tangent.

It seemed that with each entry, I would come across many different gadgets, technologies, and habits that are now either obsolete or well on their way.

Because of the many advancements and gadgets introduced in the last few years, the whole world has changed.  We now have entirely different ways to do business, look for information, and connect with others.

We can reach anywhere in the world in just seconds, we have touch-screens and we share our thoughts with friends all over the world.

So…I am sharing some of the obsolete gadgets with you.  How is your memory?  Do you remember using any of these “older” devices?  Do you still use some of these inventions?

17 Things That Became Obsolete!

PDAs

Remember that trusty stylus? The once-awesome Palm Pilot had no chance when the touch-screen smartphone became the norm.

Dial-up

Static… dial tone… repeat a few times… ah, Internet!  30 minutes later…a download of a 3 minute Clay moment! I definitely won’t miss dial-up!

Getting film developed

Just think of all the pictures of Clay Aiken that we can take with a digital camera. Does anyone actually use film anymore?

Movie Rental Stores

Digital cable TV has given us Video-on-Demand and Netflix.  We no longer need to go to Blockbuster and hope the movie we want to see is available.  Are there any rental stores around anymore?

Maps

We used to have a folder with fold-up maps in our car.  Nowadays, we just punch in our destination into our GPS or smartphone. We’re good to go. Besides cutting down on the arguments about the quickest way, I no longer have to struggle to fold up the map correctly.

Newspaper classifieds

The Internet has become the place to go to find a job or a house or even sell your old couch. We can thank Craig Newmark from Craig’s List for this shortcut.

The Landline

89% of the U.S. can use wireless phones.  Every day, more and more people choose their cell phone over their landline at home.  It is not obsolete yet, but it is on its way out!

Long-Distance Charges

Because of cell phones, it no longer costs extra to make call to the other side of the U.S.  And, if you need to make international calls, there is Skype and various other free Internet chat services make international calls totally free (at least for now).

Public pay phones

I don’t think I can remember the last time I saw a public pay phone, let alone used one.

VCRs

DVD players outsold VCR’s in 2002 for the first time.  Today we have digital movie watching so “bye-bye” to the VCR.

Fax machines

Today, most people use e-fax.  The annoying fax machine is now passe.

Phone books, dictionaries, encyclopedias

What do you do with the many phone books that get dropped in your driveway?  I can get what I want on the Internet.  And, one of my “Bookmarked” spots is a dictionary.

CDs

It is the age of digital music and the iPod.  And, is there a store by you that still carries CD’s?  Album sales dropped by another 13% in 2010.  It is only a matter of time until the CD becomes just a relic of times gone by. (Maybe we should add the Walkman to this topic.)

Backing up your data on floppies or CDs

Now we have external hard drives and even thumb drives.  What am I going to do with all those DVD’s with all my Clay files on them?

Boundaries

With Facebook, MySpace and Twitter, boundaries went out the window.  I am not convinced that this is good.

Paper

Since most communication is now conducted on-line, fewer people continue having a newspaper delivered to their home.  You can get the news quicker on the Internet…and you can get many different points of view.  Some people feel that paper is the biggest casualty of the decade

Record Stores

Records have long been obsolete, except as nostalgia. But the record store, as in a store that sells music, has now been replaced by the Internet and iTunes.

Did we forget anything?

What else is toast? I would love to hear in the comments.

Monday is a good day to read something that just might make you chuckle.  Everybody needs a day like that!

I found the following on a data disc of Clay Aiken articles that I saved.  I wish I knew more about it.  I am not sure when it was written or who wrote it.  If anyone does know, please let me know.  I would love to give credit where it is due.

To  Daddy

By Isabelle Tucker

There are little eyes upon you,
And they’re watching day by day;
There are little ears that surely
Take in every word you say;
There are little hands all eager
To do everything you do.
There’s a little boy who’s dreaming
of the day he’ll be like you!
You’re that little fellow’s idol,
You’re the wisest of the wise.
In his little mind, about you
No suspicions e’er arise;
He believes in you devoutly,
Holds that all you say or do
He will say and do, in your way,
When he’s all grown up like you.
There’s a wide-eyed little fellow
Who believes you’re always right;
His keen ears are always open
To catch your words, day or night.
You are setting an example,
Every day, in all you do,
For the little boy who’s wanting
to grow up to be like you.

Clay…

Wishing you a

Happy Father’s Day!

May it be filled with

lots of love,

lots of family,

lots of hugs,

and

lots of fun.

P.S.

Clay…you have always called yourself a geek…

I don’t agree….however,

If so, I hope Parker and his mommy found this for you!

The talented SueReu shared a beautiful

Father’s Day video with us!

It is amazing!!

Enjoy!!

Clay Aiken – Stepping Out of The Spotlight

By musicfan123 · Comments 10487(8)http%3A%2F%2Fclaynewsnetwork.com%2F2011%2F06%2F17%2Fclay-aiken-stepping-out-of-the-spotlight%2FClay+Aiken+-+Stepping+Out+of+The+Spotlight2011-06-17+07%3A29%3A04musicfan123http%3A%2F%2Fclaynewsnetwork.com%2F%3Fp%3D10487

A silhouette is the view of an object or scene consisting of only the outline and a featureless interior, with the silhouetted object usually being black.

In photography, it means that the object is backlit and appears dark against a lighter background. This happens especially around sunset, when the sun is going behind the mountains or other objects, and those objects become backlit…or, in the case of Clay Aiken, it happens on stage when Clay steps out of the spotlight!

Each one of these photos is a real gem.  The photographer was able to catch a moment on stage that, even as a silhouette, tells a story.  A big thank – you to all the “Clack-gatherers” who share their talent with the entire ClayNation.  Of course, it doesn’t hurt to have a photogenic person as the subject!

Which one of these pictures is your favorite?  Can you remember when these pictures were taken? (I can’t).

Clay Aiken – Best Friends!

By musicfan123 · Comments 10350(14)http%3A%2F%2Fclaynewsnetwork.com%2F2011%2F06%2F08%2Fclay-aiken-best-friends%2FClay+Aiken+-+Best+Friends%212011-06-08+07%3A44%3A06musicfan123http%3A%2F%2Fclaynewsnetwork.com%2F%3Fp%3D10350

Today is Best Friend’s Day, a day to celebrate your BFF.

Friends may come and go over the years, but best friends are forever! National Best Friend Day is an annual “holiday” held on June 8th. Also known as Best Friend Day or Best Friend’s Day, it’s a wonderful opportunity to remind that special person in your life how much he or she means to you.

And it doesn’t have to cost an arm-and-a-leg to show that special person how much you care.   Why not give that one-of-a-kind BFF a call, invite him or her out to lunch or whip up a batch of his or her favorite sweet treats today? Make a new friend by visiting an area retirement center.  As many lead very hectic and busy lives, why not make a pledge to be an even better friend this year?

No one lights up your life like your best friend. So take the time to cherish that one person who won’t judge you, who knows you better than you know yourself, and that is by your side when no one else is strong enough to be.

Eleanor Roosevelt said it best:

“Many people will walk in and out of your life, but only right friends will leave footprints in your heart.”

Clay Aiken seems to have many friends who play a special role in his life.  Maybe some of these people are his Best Friends!  These friends are placed in random order.  Do you have someone you would like to add to this list?

Oh, Wait!!  We can’t forget!

Clay Aiken – Remembering Those Who Serve

By musicfan123 · Comments 10324(6)http%3A%2F%2Fclaynewsnetwork.com%2F2011%2F05%2F30%2Fclay-aiken-remembering-those-who-serve%2FClay+Aiken+-+Remembering+Those+Who+Serve2011-05-30+07%3A38%3A27musicfan123http%3A%2F%2Fwww.claynewsnetwork.com%2F%3Fp%3D10324
Monday, May 30th, 2011

In the United States, Memorial Day is on the last Monday
in May and honors Americans who gave their lives

for their country in wars.

Memorial Day National Moment of Remembrance at 3PM.
“On Monday May 30th, 2011, pause at 3:00pm local time for a minute of
respectful silence for those who have died in the service of our
nation. During that minute, television and radio stations throughout
America will air simultaneously a 60-second spot which includes
“Taps”. Turn on your radio or television to join your fellow
Americans in putting Memorial back in Memorial Day.”
Visit the organizers: No Greater Love Web Page

The first nationwide Memorial Day Parade was held on May 30, 1868 by a group of Civil war Union Army Vets.  Why they chose May 30, no one knows.

Although this holiday is celebrated with barbeques, trips to the beach, and other recreation, it is important to remember the history of the day and the men and women who have given their lives for our great country.

What are your plans for this Memorial Day?  Are you going to a parade or are you staying at home?  Maybe you are cleaning up the grill for an old fashioned Memorial Day Picnic.

Whatever your plans may be, have a safe and memorable Day.  And don’t forget to support Clay Aiken in whatever way you can.  He’s a pretty remarkable young man and today is a good time to show him and the music world that he is loved.

I think that Clay Aiken is the only one who says he can’t dance.  Just take a look!

Dance:  –verb (used without object)

1. to move one’s feet or body, or both, rhythmically in a pattern of steps, especially to the accompaniment of music.

2. to leap, skip, etc., as from excitement or emotion; move nimbly or quickly: to dance with joy.

Great dancers are not great because of their technique. They are great because of their passion.” ~ Unknown

There is a little insanity in dancing that does everybody a great deal of good. ~ Edward Demby

We’re fools whether we dance or not, so we might as well dance. ~ Japanese Proverb

Nobody cares if you can’t dance well.  Just get up and dance. ~ Dave Berry

Dancing is like dreaming with your feet. ~ Constanze

The truest expression of a people is in its dance and in its music.  Bodies never lie. ~ Agnes de Mille

You can dance anywhere, even if you only in your heart. ~ Author Unknown

Dancing with the feet is one thing, but dancing with the heart is another. ~ Author Unknown

Dance till the stars come down from the rafters.

Dance, Dance, Dance till you drop.  ~ W.H. Auden

Dance is a delicate balance between perfection and beauty. ~ Author Unknown

SueReu put together another wonderful video!

If you like dance, you will love this video

Thank you, Sue!!

Quote of the Day

It is not always about performance art, but about receiving positive energy from people with positive spirits. Sometimes we can see someone's spirit, and those are the people with great energy. Those are the people that get me through the day, especially on Broadway. -Clay Aiken
