On January 9, 2022, Clay Aiken announced that he was running for Congress. He is running for the state’s new 6th Congressional District seat that represents Orange and Durham counties and part of western Wake County. If Clay wins, he would replace Rep. David Price, who announced his retirement in October.
Most of you have probably heard about Clay running for office, but Clay wrote out a lovely message to his fans. He went to Twitter and posted the following:
“No one has fans or supporters who are as amazing and loyal as mine! PERIOD.“
As we are following Clay as he runs for office, we have a few things to remember about CANN.
First – We will NOT make this a political site. When I get or see information about Clay, I will bring the new events so we can follow him along. I know that Clay has positive and negative political fans, but let’s not argue!
Second – CANN will do whatever we can to support Clay…but we need to be careful. As Clay’s name will be posted, more people will visit the site. So, lets have fun, but be just a bit careful.
Three – I will try to bring over quotes and interesting events so you can be up to date. BUT…I might need a bit more time, so you might want to check out CANN more than once a day. We can adjust that as the time goes on.
Four – I hope you will leave a message for CANN. So…….

American Idol star Clay Aiken wants to represent the Triangle as he runs for a North Carolina seat in Congress….
…..Aiken says that, if elected, he would use his voice “to deliver on needed progressive policies – from stopping climate change, systemic racism, income inequality and gun violence, to securing voting rights, free health care, and a woman’s right to choose.”
