On Saturday, I had a computer project that I was working on. It took me longer to finish it than it should. It seems I kept finding pictures of Clay Aiken that I hadn’t seen in years.
The following set of pictures were fun to find. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.
Miss America Pageant – September 20, 2003
Clay was the featured musical guest of the pageant. About 30 minutes into the show, Tom Bergeron introduced Clay as “One of America’s newest Pop Superstars.”
Clay sang “This is the Night” as the contestants paraded down the runway.
These pictures are from the rehearsal
These are from the Performance
That was fun watching that again. Oh the Irony!!…Clay would say that himself. I was thinking, isn't it nice to watch someone sing on stage without all the smoke & mirrors. Singing, not lipsyncing…no auto-tune..just a beautiful voice. I truly believe that the crap out today with all the help the singers get to sound good, will be a thing of the past. That good voices will again prevail. A talent that Clay has, should be heard and seen. Thanks Musicfan, it was nice going back to the beginning again.
I remember how excited I was to watch this performance live. It's still exciting to watch it today.
He looked so cute that night. I know coronation songs always get dissed but Clay really got he best one. I love This is the Night. Thank you for a great blog.
That was one breathtaking singing performance by Mr. Clay Aiken. Beautiful, spectacular, and perfect are a few more adjectives that describe it. Clay looked so at ease and happy to be a part of that event. The audience appreciation erupted at the splendor of Clay's voice. Even the CEO and president of the pageant organization couldn't keep a big smile from forming on his face. Talk about a golden moment in time. That was certainly a huge one. Thanks for the video and the pre-performance photos. Clay looked quite handsome indeed.
I remember how excited I was to watch Clay perform that night. He did a wonderful job. Thanks for the photos I never saw them before. I did like Clay's hair cut!
Wow! I haven't seen that performance in a good while. What a great job he did and everyone seemed to really love it! Thanks for the walk down memory lane!

When it was announced that Clay would sing at the Miss America pageant, I got on the phone with Ticketmaster to get tickets. Back then, I didn't know anything about using the Internet for tickets. I had to order using an automatic system, so had no idea where our seats would be. I remember as someone led us to our seats how thrilled I was. As someone led us into the building, we entered very close to the stage, but as we followed, we kept going higher and higher until we were in the next-to-the-last row. Clay was only a speck, even through binoculars, and I had to ask my friend what he was wearing. It was great to see the video later to see how great he really was and how much everyone loved him.
That performance was flawless. He looked wonderful and I loved his coronation song.
It is so good to see that video again. I was so excited to watch it…and I believe I have it taped. He did quite a few Miss America Shows after that too. I love that song This Is The Night. I still have my CD of TITN and BOTW. Gee, I'll have to play that again. That is, if I didn't wear it out back in 2003. LOL!!
I loved watching that again. I was so excited when Clay sang on Miss America. He did an
awesome job.
I am so glad i check here tonight to watch the video from when Clay was on Miss America. Now that I watched it again I remember it so well…..he was amazing and the song was just perfect for the night. I taped it back then and watched it so many times. I was so excited that day.
I love those pictures that I never saw before
