Clay Aiken Is Always Animated!

Clay Aiken was the guest star on Disney’s Phineas and Ferb on August 2, 2010. He sang a duet with the legendary recording artist Chaka Khan. The one hour episode, “Summer Belongs to You”, premiered on August 2, on DisneyXD and then again on August 6 on the Disney Channel.

Phineas and Ferb is known for its musical numbers, which have appeared in every episode since the first-season. The show’s creators write and record each number, and vary musical tempo depending on each song’s dramatic use. The music has gotten the series two Emmy nods for songwriting in 2008.

Clay’s song for Disney is I Believe We Can. The duet was part of an episode of titled Summer Belongs To You. Walt Disney Records released the song on iTunes and other online retailers as a part of a digital album comprised of music from the entire TV series.

The episode and Clay’s visit got a great deal of publicity from Disney and news about the show and song was on most of the mainstream entertainment site. The following article was published at the newsobserver.com…

Clay Aiken gets animated with “Phineas & Ferb”

You could argue that Clay Aiken has always been animated. Now he really is!

The singer appears on a special one-hour episode of the clever cartoon “Phineas & Ferb,” (Disney Channel, tonight at 8 & 11) singing a duet with Chaka Khan called “I Believe We Can.”

“Phineas & Ferb” is the story of two stepbrothers perpetually on summer vacation, who always embark on some grand project. Their sister Candace watches on angrily, but is never able to get their mom to catch them in the act. The two also have a platypus named Perry, a secret agent for an all-animal government organization that primarily takes on Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz, an evil scientist.

It sounds wacky, but trust me, it works.

Clay’s episode is about the brothers’ decision to travel around the world in a day. Clay and Chaka, through their song, offer encouragement.

I do remember waiting to see this show. I had not seen any of the series before, but I certainly enjoyed animated Clay Aiken.

  1. I didn't see this show before Clay was on and have to agree – very good! Clay was spectacular as
an animation – but then he can and does do anything and everything spectacularly!

  2. I’d never seen Phineas and Ferb before. It was really cute. I liked the song and it was so fun seeing Cartoon Clay.

  3. I'd forgotten how wonderful he sounded on this!!
Thanks. Let's hope he gets to do more projects like this.
    Oh, that voice!!!
    Yep–he's animated all right.

  4. I just loved this video of Clay, it's sooo adorable, he can do anything, what a guy, just love him. thanks musicfan, you're great, keep up the good work, you always make me smile.

  5. Animated Clay is a cutie, but he needs a few more layers of clothing to look more realistic. 😀

  6. I still haven't been able to see this show…grrr I've looked for it and just can't find it. 🙂

  7. I looked the song up on Itunes – it's still for sale but GRRRR you have to buy the entire album to get it. You also have to search by the song title or chaka on itunes to find it. It doesn't come up for Clay Aiken.

You can listen to a preview of the song – funny even though they don't list Clay on the sound track – it's his voice that you hear first on the preview and Chaka joins in at the end.

I loved the combination of her rougher musical style and Clay much better than Luck be a Lady. So don't let Luck be a Lady turn you off – check out this cartoon song on itunes. If you liked Luck be a Lady you will also like this song.

You can also hear the whole thing on Youtube.
Thank you musicfan. I now have another Clay Aiken song for my ipod/ipad that I didn't have before.

  8. Loved this animated Clay. I haven't seen Phineas & Ferb , nor have I heard Clay sing this song. Loved seeing and hearing both. Thanks musicfan for all the hard work you put in for us.

  9. I am totally convinced that Clay can do anything!!!! The thing is…he does it better than anyone else. Loved watching that again…Thanks Musicfan.

  10. Loved watching that again. He was so good in it. Now, that he has that experience..how about them putting him in one of the big selling Cartoon movies that are out now. I'm sure he would do his character just great.

  11. I know Phineas and Ferb very well because I have little sisters! I have never seen this clip, though I have always wanted to. Thanks for posting! I wish they would have given Clay green eyes. They definitely should have consulted with us on the details 🙂
