Clay Aiken – Shining The Spotlight!

It is almost summer and since we aren’t expecting any concerts by Clay Aiken this summer, I thought we might re-visit a few special moments from the past.

On July 23, 2007, Clay and his team put on a wonderful concert in Sterling Heights. Unfortunately, one of Clay’s back-up singers, Angela Fisher was feeling poorly. She was not able to sing her featured song that night. So, Clay and Quiana improvised a duet of the song. This impromptu performance ended up being a highlight of the tour.

The next month, the tour made its way to Ft. Myers, Florida. The show was going well, but when it was time for Quiana’s solo, the lighting man just couldn’t get it right. Somehow, he refused to shine the spotlight on anyone but Clay. After many hand signals and hints, Clay finally sat down on Quiana’s stool and she sat in front of him. The performance ended up as a wonderful musical performance by Quiana and some good giggles from Clay. You just have to see this one. The title of the song “When The Lights Go Down” fit the problem completely.

  1. I was there for the Sterling Heights Show – was a grand night – so many memories for me! I met and
spent time with the popular "Ethel" – very sweet lady! The duet with Quiana was fantastic and the show and Clay was so "on" that night – extra spectacular – if that is possible!!! <3

  2. I could watch those videos a million times! Clay and Quiana are such a great team. They are fun and their voices together are perfect! 🙂

  3. That was sooo adorable, love the videos, that Clay is so sweet and lovable! Thanks Musicfan xox.

  4. i could watch those videos a million times also when clay and quanda sing together oh its just amazing and a great team sadley though i didnt get ta see clay at sterling hights or ethel

  5. I can't think of another top billed performer who is so willing to share the stage and songs with "backup" singers. Clay is the best singer, friend, gentleman and all around good guy.

  6. What a hoot!!!!! I tell you, his laugh just gets me gigglin' too!!!!! I think he was trying to be as subtle as he could without being rude but I think the stage hand pushed him past "the point of no return." (Oops! Sorry, that's from The Phantom Of The Opera!) Which, I think he would make either a great Phantom or Raul. Or I could also see him playing the Master Of The House Dude in Les Mis. Heck, he could even play the slave Pseudolus in A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum. Awww, let's face it he could play ANY male lead in a comedy, tragedy, farce, drama, horror, etc and make ANY of those parts look good! Have a good rest of the weekend, everyone!

    See You Later,

    Ellison
