Hello From Cary, North Carolina. When I arrived early Monday morning,it was 28 degrees….a bit colder than I thought it would be!!
I thought these two Facebook messages were fun to read early in the morning!!
Michael Shepherd
Just saw clay Aiken on the side of the road putting out political signs it’s nice seeing a candidate getting his hands dirty for a changeKaren Ann
Just gave a shout-out via my car horn to Clay Aiken the former American Idol runner…he was at the traffic circle here in Pinehurst with his signs & a television crew as he is running for elections for North Carolina, it was really neat to see him….good luck Clay!
Another message came from Nita Foe with some nice pictures:
That guy Clay Aiken on the campaign trail today getting it in. At the corner of Cliffdale and Skibo. He crossed in front of my truck and took time to wave at my camera lol even though he was at my job last week.
Clay Aiken is so down to earth

I had the opportunity to attend the meet and greet with Clay at Campbell University. The university is about a 45 minute drive from Cary. It is a beautiful drive and in a very rural area. I loved seeing the cotton fields. We don’t see that in California!
Campbell University is a beautiful campus and the College Democrats group is wonderful. Many of the members came over immediately to welcome us and chatted about the election and Clay. They all seemed very excited about meeting Clay and are encouraging all their friends to VOTE!!
Clay and Nick arrived on their beautiful election bus. Clay greeted each person and asked for their name. He talked with many of the students about the election and took MANY “selfies”. The occasion ended with a wonderful group picture! A big thank you to SueReu for the pictures from Campbell University. Be sure and give her credit if you post them.
It was a fun time and I enjoyed watching the young students who are serious about the decisions they will be making when they vote. It was also interesting to watch and listen to Clay and Nick. They do an excellent job of talking with the young people and being serious but having some fun too.
I was glad to get back to the hotel. I certainly wish that a deer hadn’t decided to run into my car as I drove home. Poor thing…the car and its occupants are all fine!!!
I look forward to today. Lots of work for everyone on the campaign and then an evening of fun and celebration in Sanford!
Stay in touch…I will post up dates!!!
Thanks so much for the nice pictures, Sue, and for the wonderful updates, Martha!! Many prayers being said for Clay. Sure wish I was there!
Thank you, musicfan, for your support of Clay and for bringing us all of the news from the frontlines. Hope the weather gets warmer, so you don't freeze today. Love that Clay was out putting up his own signs. Looking forward to celebrating Congressman Clay this evening.
Thank you to you and all the volunteers whom tirelessly have and continue to work their tails off. Thank you to you for your dedication of CAAN Clay is blessed to have such great fans.
He exudes a confidence and yet is so humble. He brings out the best in those around him. He has a rare quality and that is that he is genuine and truly cares.
His voice rings loud and will continue. He is a remarkable man. What an incredible journey it has been.
I am so glad you were able to attend this event. I am sooooooo nervous for Clay today. All of his hard work culminates tonight. I truly hope & pray you are attending Clay's VICTORY party tonight.
Glad t wasn't worse with the deer. They come out of nowhere.
So nice that you were able to be there with Clay, I too am so nervous and hopeful for clay, he deserves this win, God bless him and thanks Suerue for the great photos. Bless all of you and thanks again. xox
Clay, I am so proud of you! I wish you would read all the comments that are being posted. You have so much courage to stand your ground, despite some of the criticism from a certain talk show host and others. They do not know you, as we do! It seems nothing is going to stand in you way as you are pursuing your dream.
I am praying we all my heart, that you win this election. Please know all of us are behind you, more than you will ever know. We love you!
Hope you are having fun and please tell Clay we all said hi and we are so proud of him!!
Good LUck today Clay….You have run a great campaign. One that you should be very proud of. We are all pulling for you.
Martha, glad that you weren't hurt. Be careful tonight…..Thanks SueReu for the pictures.
GO CLAY GO!!! You are without a doubt the best person for NC02.
Sorry Clay lost , but I hope he will get back to making music with his fantastic voice…I hope he does a concert tour soon….He did his best as always and got robbed again. I really want him to do another album.. I WILL BUY HIS MUSIC……AS I AM SURE ALL OF US WILL..
Clay has taught me that winning or losing is NOT the main point of any endeavor. How one handles the “good” and the “bad” in life is the essence of developing wisdom, strength of character, and compassion for others. Clay may not have captured a seat in Congress this time around, but he has challenged Congressional greed and dysfunction and will continue to speak out for those who have been neglected.
I love the fact that, in the midst of his defeat, Clay had the ability to remind us of two additional occasions when he was not proclaimed the winner! He also did not hesitate to include the seemingly unending harassment he suffered from others in early childhood via “Learning to Sing: Hearing the Music in Your Life”. I must give kudos to this exceedingly special man. Clay leaves a positive and lasting influence wherever he goes – win or lose!
