Here it is… Monday morning and I am still thinking about Rickey Smith.
It was Friday morning when we heard that 36 year old Rickey was killed early that morning in a wrong-way crash. The other driver was treated at a local hospital following the crash. He was taken into custody because members of the highway patrol detected the odor of alcohol in the drivers truck.
It is wonderful to see all the support being shown for Rickey and his young family. Rickey left behind two young children and their mother. The memorial fund that was set up for the children of Rickey is growing. At this time almost $12,000 has been raised. It is still not too late to donate HERE

Along with many other people, I have been looking back at Season 2 of American Idol to find some pictures and videos of the talented Mr. Smith. It has been a treat to find so many pictures of his beautiful smile and watch his excitement at being a part of the show!
Although I have many pictures on my computer, I want to thank so many of my friends for sharing pictures of Rickey on American Idol and the American Idol Tour!

My heart is heavy with sadness, with the news of Rickey's death. But my mind is angry with the senseless death of Rickey. So many people have been killed by drunk drivers. I made my donation to Rickey's fund, anything to help the family! It's hard to look at the pictures you posted and not feel sadness, nevertheless thank you for the memories.
I also donated and can not believe this has happened! So sad and so senseless!
