Clay Aiken – “The Moment You’re Near”

In 1954, the Erroll Garner Trio introduced an instrumental song titled “Misty.” About a year later, Johnny Burke penned the lyrics, creating the song that is well-known today. “Misty” remained relatively unknown until Johnny Mathis popularized the vocal version with his million-selling recording in 1959.

Although it was never a number one hit, “Misty” has been performed by hundreds of instrumentalists and vocalists.

Misty

Look at me, I’m as helpless as a kitten up a tree,

And I feel like I’m clinging to a cloud, I can’t understand,

I get misty, just holding your hand.

Walk my way, and a thousand violins begin to play,

Or it might be the sound of your hello, that music I hear,

I get misty, the moment you’re near…

Clay Aiken recorded this beautiful song for his Cd, Tried & True.

Clay has such a beautiful voice…this song shows it off!

The following is a performance by Clay on his Tried & True Tour

  1. Beautiful song and Clay does it as only he can! I attended this show in Cleveland and my daughter had a M&G that day – it was a day to be remembered! It is a beautiful memory – Thank you for sharing this. Love all of the photos, too!

  2. Thank you for all the pictures and the video. The pictures are great. I love the video. Clay voice and song are beautiful. Thank you CANN.

  3. Back in 1959 I ran out and bought the Johnny Mathis (big, black vinyl) album so I could listen to Misty whenever I wanted to. When Clay’s album (small, compact disc) came out, I also hurried to purchase it so I could listen to Misty. I did see Clay sing this beautiful song on the Tried & True tour.
