Clay Aiken – “I Get Misty”

In 1954 the Erroll Garner Trio introduced an instrumental song titled “Misty.” About a year later, Johnny Burke penned the lyrics, creating the song that is well-known today. “Misty” remained relatively unknown until Johnny Mathis popularized the vocal version with his million-selling recording in 1959.

Although it was never a number one hit, “Misty” has been performed by hundreds of instrumentalists and vocalists.

Misty

Look at me, I’m as helpless as a kitten up a tree,

And I feel like I’m clinging to a cloud, I can’t understand,

I get misty, just holding your hand.

Walk my way, and a thousand violins begin to play,

Or it might be the sound of your hello, that music I hear,

I get misty, the moment you’re near…

Clay Aiken recorded this beautiful song for his Cd, Tried & True.

Clay has such a beautiful voice…this song shows it off!

The following is a performance by Clay on his Tried & True Tour

Enjoy!

  1. A very lovely song and Clay sings it beautifully as he always does. I was at this concert in Cleveland and it was a joy. He and his wonderful voice are so missed.
I am sure he is keeping busy with his family and whatever else might be happening for him. The pics are amazing! Thank you!

  2. Thank you for the pictures and the video. The pictures are great. I love the video. I saw Clay in Pa. The song and his voice are the best. Thank you CANN.

  3. The first record album I bought was Johnny Mathis’ because of his rendition of Misty. I was a real fan back in the ‘olden’ days. When Clay sang Misty, he was the guy who could croon the ‘oldies’ plus belt out the new songs. Thanks for the memories.
