The eyes of the world are on Washington, D.C. as Barack Obama becomes the 44th President of the United States. Whatever ones political beliefs, we are seeing history in the making.
When I think of Washington D.C., I always remember the performance by Clay Aiken on July 4, 2004. The PBS Live From Washington, D.C. show was an extravaganza of music and fireworks.
Reality TV World interviewed Clay who said:
“It’s just a cooler opportunity to be in Washington, D.C., for the holiday with a big 110-piece orchestra.”
Clay sang “The Star Spangled Banner,” “God Bless the USA, and “Measure of a Man”. Even with the rainy weather, about half a million people attended the event.
Washington, D.C. is a beautiful city with a history that is filled with many memorable moments. January 20, 2009 is a day when the world is watching our capital city and seeing a moment of democracy at work.
Its such a wonderful time for the world, not just Americans and yes, I too remember seeing Clay Aiken sing at the PBS.
God Bless the USA still gives me chills watching it..
*you don’t see me, I’m at work*
I am Proud to be an American!! Thanks for these memories! Love Clay – he truly is the Measure of a Man and God Bless the USA!!!
Perfect for today!
Clay sang “The Star Spangled Banner” as it should be sung without all the vocal gymnastics and changing up of the timing of the song that so many singers do. I hate when you can barely recognize what they’re singing with all the improvisations.
Yes what memories we all have!! I remember the DC appearence very well….our fan group was there the day before for rehersals. Of course we truly enjoyed OMC but we were also there on a mission. Working through BAF we were there to get several items signed by Clay for our pre-party silent auction in York, PA. Thanks to Clay, Jerome and the folks at BAF those items helped us to raise over $7400. Quite a chunk of change for Clay!!…but we sure had fun doing it!
Where are you Clay…lets do it again! Hugs Cookie
PS.. Clay we hope you enjoyed the Space NK..LOL
