The Talented Mr. Aiken

Today is Thursday and that means we will hear Clay Aiken on his weekly podcast. Politicon posted the following on Facebook:

Joy Villa and Wayne Dupree Show join Clay Aiken on the next “How The Heck Are We Gonna Get Along!” to tackle more hot-button issues and answer your questions! Share a question for the panel below & tune in Thursday for a shout-out! Deadline to submit is 12pm ET Wednesday.

It should be a very interesting hour.  There is so much happening in the USA right now.  What will Joy and Wayne have to say and will Clay keep them on track?

Do you remember what you were doing on March 12, 2010?  For many Clay Aiken fans, this date will bring back memories of the taping of the PBS special at the Raleigh Memorial Auditorium.  The concert, lovingly called the “OMG” Concert was the beginning of a year of wonderful live music, a new CD and DVD and many PBS specials on TV.

The concert was polished, professional and classy.  Clay’s voice was phenomenal on the fresh arrangements of the timeless classics.

Clay opened the show with a rousing rendition of Mack The Knife and closed the show with a poignant version of Moon River. Each song chosen for the program allowed Clay to showcase his wonderful voice.  It is amazing how his voice soared on the variety of songs.  Each one highlighted his versatility and range.

I still find it impossible to describe Unchained Melody on this night. It started out slowly and emotional but then…as SueReu said:

...it likened to a 747 taking off or thunder that started in Clay’s toes and traveled through his body.

I feel lucky that I was able to be in the audience that night.  It is one of my favorite “Clay” moments!

I hope you enjoy these videos.

The first one has talking Clay, singing Clay, and pictures of Clay!!

I wish Clay could perform another concert like this.  It was very special!

  1. The PBS Special Taping was my very first trip to Raleigh – and how excited I was! I felt very fortunate to be there. Even more excited after the show – Clay was every bit as good as you say and Sue Rue got it completely right! It will always be one of my most loved memories!
