Clay Aiken: WRAL and NBC17 Video Interviews

While Musicfan123 is traveling to Raleigh, I will go ahead and post the video interviews with Clay from WRAL and NBC17.

Clay Aiken talks about new album
Former “American Idol” finalist Clay Aiken talks about his new album and upcoming performance in Raleigh.

Dressed in a blue button down shirt and blue jeans, Clay Aiken sat down for an interview with NBC17 Thursday at the Progress Energy Center.

Aiken announced in February that he will perform a one-night only special event to help kick off the release of his new album “Tried and True” and that this concert will be taped which will air sometime in June on PBS.

Within minutes of tickets going on sale, they sold-out. Many of those tickets were bought by some of Aiken’s most loyal fans who said they will travel across the country to see him perform. Something he hasn’t done in quite some time.

“It’s always a surprise when folks are willing to put so much effort forth,” said Aiken.

He was just as much surprised as he was flattered that his fans will travel to see him and is always appreciative for their support.

Among his fans in attendance, Clay said some family and some of his biggest supporters will also be in attendance.

“Quite a few of my teachers are gonna be here, too,” he said excitedly.

Aiken said the album and concert are a product of months of preparation and hopes his fans will have a good time. His concert will take place Friday, March 12 at 7 p.m. at the Raleigh Memorial Auditorium.

UPDATE
News on Auction Items for Fan Fest 2010
We have acquired the late Bev McMullen entire collection of Clay memorabilia from the members of her family. Bev was a passionate Clay Fan and had quite a collection. I’m sure she would be delighted to know that we are using many of her “special” items for both our silent and verbal auctions. Featured will be several signed items and many “one of a kind” items. We will be using some of the other items for surprises!! Thanks to her family for donating this collection for Fan Fest and to benefit NIP.

We have gotten word from other fans who are donating very special items as well…..it will be a wonderful collection of items for everyone to bid on!

We are awaiting receipt of a “VERY SPECIAL” item and will share that info with everyone ASAP.

PS: Just a note to all fans who are flying into Harrisburg International…..there will be a shuttle service available to York and back again…please contact Cookie at djknappy.1@juno.com

Go to the Clay Fan Fest/National Inclusion Project Fundraiser Facebook page to read the complete invitation with all the information about the event, reservations and sign up form!

Site News: Shall We Mingle?

You may have noticed a new option in the sidebar for something called “Mingle”. This is a new plugin that turns the website into a Social Network. It includes the ability to create profile pages, user friending, profile page posts, profile activities, social comments, email notifications (with privacy settings) and a full directory of members.

If you have ever registered on CANN or accessed this site through a link on Facebook, you already have a profile on CANN. If you are not sure if you are registered or not, just go to the Directory page to see if you are there. Members who accessed CANN through Facebook were automatically registered here and assigned an alphanumeric code. It appears as your assigned user name, which is not very elegant. Because of that, I hid those Facebook accounts and you can register again using your preferred user name. So, give it a try and let me know what you think! Here is a summary of the features on Mingle:

  • User Profile Pages
  • Ability to Upload custom avatars (falls back on Gravatar)
  • User Friending
  • User Profile Posting (for friends)
  • User Profile Post Commenting (for friends)
  • Friend Activity Pages
  • Full Member Directory
  • Login & Navigation Widget
  • Random or Recent Users Widget
  • Email Notifications
  • User Email Notification Opt-Outs

Clay holding u a check for $15K for the Florida Alliance Camp

Diane Bubel is talking about having a child with disability and without and how sometimes children with disabilities don’t want to have therapy or special treatment but just want to participate or do things like other children. Talking now about how a child can use a bow and arrow like other children with assistance so the child can do things with other children and the other children can see that the disabled child can do the same things. Looking into the audience and seeing how the audience is full of different people and says there was a time when women were isolated, poor children were isolate, but programs accommodated the need for change. Talking about how the color of people’s skin used to keep people apart, but disabled still are sometimes kept apart…diversity is a great thing.

They are showing a video now so no one is speaking.

Auction is starting. 10 items plus Clay may offer something if you’re interested. LOL

The auctioneer is teasing the audience saying that if they bid fast, Clay will be on singing sooner.

First auction is golfer Player wine bottles.

The auction is starting. The auctioneer is teasing the audience saying that if they bid fast, Clay will be on singing sooner. I think he’s making them exercise their bidding arms (?)

Clapping (video over)
Jerry–as clay mentioned early, economic times are tough –esp. for families with children with special needs. Joe the auctioneer is not here–says he and Clay together are entertainment in themselves. Say he’ll try to do it. The raffle is a 32 inch flat screen. Taylor spinning and they’ll draw a number to see who puts the TV in her luggage–Diane C.
She lives in Miami. Says that works out great. Speaking of birthday, I would be remiss if I didn’t say we had 2 granddaughters born in 2008 and today is the first grandchild’s birthday. Some things donated. Some items may be added. Mixture of foundation/Clay related and some Wayne-related. Starting with one of the largest. Online bids and Aron will identify when they get to the online bid. First item is a voice-message greeting on your mobile phone. Starting bid online was $1000–Clay’s voice. Says the long lady who bought this before is present–asks if she needs it refreshed. Bidding—starts at $1000, no one. $10,000. Asks about $5, $50, got a $1000 bid. Asking for $1500. Online bid is $1500. Says Clay will say whatever you’d like to write–very business-like or personal. Clay doesn’t care because he won’t be listening. Got $2000. Excellent! . Asks if someone is just scratching or rubbing her head. Ok–went for $2000, but says there are TWO people–ok, moving up to $2100. $2200. $2300. $2400. $2500. WHAT KIND OF FOOL AM I

Sounds unbelievable..now that’s a voice. I Can’t Take My Eyes off of YOU.

Now upbeat “I love you baby”!!!!!!!

How much will you give for the foundation for a song you want me to sing. Ben doesn’t know it.

Quote of the Day

It is not always about performance art, but about receiving positive energy from people with positive spirits. Sometimes we can see someone's spirit, and those are the people with great energy. Those are the people that get me through the day, especially on Broadway. -Clay Aiken
