Clay Aiken – A Fan Request

“When A Man Loves A Woman”

When a man loves a woman
Can’t keep his mind on nothin’ else
He’d trade the world
For a good thing he’s found
If she is bad, he can’t see it
She can do no wrong
Turn his back on his best friend
If he puts her down
~
When a man loves a woman
Spend his very last dime
Trying to hold on to what he needs
He’d give up all his comforts
And sleep out in the rain
If she said that’s the way
It ought to be

Calvin Lewis and Andrew Wright wrote this beautiful song. Percy Sledge first recorded it in 1966. It made it up to #1 on both the Billboard Hot 100 and the R&B singles charts.

The song was recorded by many artists. Two of the most popular recordings were by Bette Midler in 1980 and Michael Bolton in 1991.

When a Man Loves a Woman was very popular during the Vietnam War. Besides being popular with American soldiers, it was featured in the 1987 war movie, Platoon.

Clay Aiken sang this song during the Jukebox Tour in 2005.  It was a fan request.  Clay delivered a fabulous, unrehearsed rendition of the song.

The following video was put together by Hosaa and it is great.  I hope you enjoy it!
