Sometimes we just need a good laugh and who better to entertain us but Clay Aiken. Yes, he sings like an angel and is a handsome man…….but today we will be entertained by one of the funniest persons around.

Tuesday was a Wonderful Clay Day!!!!!
For those of us on the west coast, Tuesday, the Clay Day, started early. Before 6AM, Quiana tweeted…and the day just got better and better.
I want to first thank all the great Clay fans that share their “Clack” with the ClayNation. These are amazing people who take the time to attend events and remember that those of us at home are just waiting for some information. Their pictures and videos and reviews are a gift to us all. A huge thank-you to each and every one of these fans!!
New York City had a great Beach Party, right in the middle of the city!! Team Clay Aiken looked organized, happy and excited to present a new product to the world.
Under The Boardwalk was the theme song of the party. Clay sang it with help from his teammates and the great crowd. The men kept the champagne glasses filled with Crystal Light Peach Bellini. Ben Cohn played music during the Limbo and Soul Train and when Clay sang. I can’t wait to see this on TV!!
Two dedicated Clay fans attended the event and shared not only a great recap of the event, but also some fabulous pictures. Dancermom and Dancerdad…we all appreciate the great pictures. Dancermom had one request about the pictures…she asked that they not be posted at the OFC. Please respect her request.

I removed a picture that I was asked to remove.
What were you doing in 1968? If you were around at that time, you probably heard one of the biggest pop music hits of the year. Written by Mike d’Abo and Tony Macaulay, the song was released by The Foundations.
Do you know what song I am talking about? Well, Clay Aiken sang it on American Idol and then blamed Ben Cohn for the “high” range of the song on his PBS Special….yes! It is Build Me Up Buttercup.
“Buttercup” reached the number 2 spot on the UK charts and the number 3 spot on the Billboard 100. It was on the Billboard chart for 11 weeks.
Younger music fans were probably introduced to Build Me Up Buttercup when it was included in the 1998 film, There’s Something About Mary. The actors of the film actually made a video of the song. All the main actors mimed the words in the character of their role in the movie.
For some reason The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim play “Buttercup” during the seventh-inning stretch. Of course, it is played after Take Me Out To The Ballgame. The crowd sings along and seems to enjoy the song.
On April 29, 2003, Clay Aiken sang Build Me Up Buttercup on American Idol. It was the Top 5 show and the first time each contestant sang two songs on the same night. Neil Sedaka was the celebrity judge for the evening.
Clay’s rendition of the song was a fan favorite so it was included on Clay’s PBS Special, titled Tried & True, Live! The talented Ben Cohn wrote the arrangement of the song that made Clay work the upper range of his voice. Clay received a standing ovation for the performance at the live concert.
The talented SueReu put together another fabulous video, combining many different Clay performances of “Buttercup”. Any time we get a SueReu video we know we are in for a treat. ENJOY!!

I received a couple of e-mails from readers yesterday. They did not recognize some of the pictures that I posted on Sunday. They requested more about the pictures..Well, OK
This picture was taken at a National Inclusion Project Gala. Yes, Clay has a bust of himself in his hands. He was not hiding it, but it was being auctioned off as part of the fund-raiser for the night. The bust was first seen on Jimmy Kimmel. It was a gift to Clay from his friend Jimmy after it was used in the opening for the show.
Photoshopped at its worse…Again, this is a picture that was originally from a skit on the Jimmy Kimmel Show. Do you remember when Clay visited Kimmel and talked about Dancing With The Stars..It was only promo for Jimmy, but Clay played along. He wore fake facial hair that actually started to come off in the skit. It was a cute skit so it was picked up by most of the entertainment shows. The Insider showed this photoshopped picture as they talked about the skit. At least that is how I remember it!!
Congratulations to Scotty McCreery. His new album reached the #1 position on the Billboard Top 100 List for last week. The album, titled Clear As Day sold 198,500 copies. According to the entertainment site, Scotty is the first WINNER since Ruben that had their debut album reach the #1 position.
This made me wonder about the successful Idol alums and how their first week numbers were for their albums. This is what I found:

I watched Dancing With The Stars last night. I really don’t want to say much except…Clay Aiken is so wonderfully talented. How wonderful that he found the talented Ben Cohn to write such beautiful arrangements.

Steve Jobs passed away yesterday, Wednesday October 5, 2011, at the age of 56. As the chairman and co-founder of Apple, Jobs certainly changed the way we use and think about technology with his intense interest in making it better, easier to use and more beautiful.
Matthew Panzarino from Nextweb said the following about Jobs:
As an orphan of immigrant parentage who rose to the literal pinnacle of his calling through hard work and invention, Jobs epitomizes the American myth. When coupled with his obvious skill as a CEO and public speaker, it made him a fascinating character to watch. When you’re passionate about something, when you live and breathe it, it shows.
Jobs died peacefully and is survived by his wife Laurene and four children and they will miss him as a man who “cherished his family.” The rest of us will miss him in a less intimate, but somehow still personal, way.

Most fans of Clay Aiken can remember seeing Clay using his iPhone. Texting seemed to be a way of life for him. I also remember finding out that Ben Cohn used iPads instead of sheet music. He even convinced the Tried & True back-up band to use them too.
I am sure the entire world is mourning this wonderful man. We join Clay in remembering the life of Steve Jobs and celebrating the many ways he changed the world.

Do you remember the movie, Dirty Dancing? Released in 1987, the romantic film starred Jennifer Grey and Patrick Swayze.
Dirty Dancing was a huge box office hit. It earned over $214 million worldwide. It was also the first film to sell more than a million copies on home video.
Patrick Swayze, the romantic dancer in the movie had his first professional appearance as a dancer for Disney on Parade. Next, he was seen as a replacement playing the role of Danny Zuko in the long-running production of Grease on Broadway.
Swayze, chosen by People magazine as the “Sexiest Man Alive” in 1991 was most famous for his role in Dirty Dancing and the 1990 film, Ghost.
Jennifer Grey is the daughter of stage and Academy Award-winning actor Joel Grey. As a young actor she was best know for her role as Ferris Bueller’s sister and her role of Baby in Dirty Dancing.
In the early 1990s, Grey underwent a rhinoplasty procedure that many people thought was not helpful to her looks and they thought it was one of the reasons she was not asked to star in many more projects.
After two very serious accidents, Grey became the winner of season 11 of Dancing With The Stars in 2010.
WAIT…What does this have to do with Clay Aiken? Well, if you know the talented SueReu and the way she is able to put together wonderful videos, you won’t be surprised that she put together a wonderful new video to Clay’s performance of Unchained Melody. Using the beautiful arrangement by Ben Cohn, Clay’s voice is the backdrop for Jennifer Grey’s dancing in both Dirty Dancing and Dancing With The Stars.
