The Silver Legacy Casino
The Silver Legacy is home to Reno’s best entertainment and was voted Best Entertainment, Best concerts, and Best comedy CLub by Casino Player Magazine. They have headline entertainment from celebrated musicians to popular comedians in an up-close and personal environment. The Silver Legacy is a mega-hotel that spans several city blocks. It rises to a height of 38 stories and is linked by walkways to its two joint partners, Circus Circus and Eldorado.
There are five themed restaurants including a seafood and steak place, an oyster bar, a large buffet room, and a fast-food court. There is also a 24-hour cafe that serves one-pound prime rib dinners. There are also three bars in the hotel.
The pool area is very nice and a calm area amidst the casino. There is also a small day spa with a fitness center, a sauna and steam rooms. The exposition center handles up to 2,000 people and the pavilion can host up to 3,500.
Reno, Nevada
What began as a small community built to serve westward travelers in the mid-1800s, Reno has become a bustling city that acts as the gateway to outdoor adventure in Nevada, aptly known as “America’s Adventure Place.”
Within an hour’s drive, there are 15 ski resorts, 50 golf courses, Lake Tahoe, the state capital Carson City, thousands of biking and hiking trails, several lakes that are perfect for fishing and boating, and the entire length of the Truckee River, which runs right through the center of Reno’s downtown. Couple those activities with Reno’s hotels and casinos, plus a growing nightlife, and you have the perfect place to put up for a few days and enjoy some recreation.
Kayakers can enjoy the Truckee River Whitewater Park (the centerpiece of the annual Reno River Festival), conveniently located downtown next to an eclectic mix of shops and eateries. Car enthusiasts should visit the National Automobile Museum if they can’t make it to Hot August Nights, Reno’s famous classic-car event. Plans are in the works for a downtown Triple-A baseball stadium, and outdoor superstore Cabela’s recently opened west of downtown in Verdi.
