As we are waiting for the “news” from Clay Aiken, it has been fun going back and re-living some of the fun things that he has done in the last 7 years.
Do you remember:
- Brad Pitt, George Clooney and Clay Aiken
- The blue sequined vest from high school
- “A Panty or two” and “Depends”
- Skipping to the front of the line at the DMV
- The original DMV picture
- Raleigh = Mayberry
If you remember these fun stories, you probably remember Clay Aiken visiting Jay Leno on January 21, 2004. Dressed in a light beige suit with a brown shirt, Clay’s interview with Leno was fun, relaxed and full of lots of laughs.
Clay closed the show with a beautiful rendition of “The Way.” The camera caught his beautiful smile at the end of the performance.
I have always enjoyed watching Clay on the Tonight Show. It’s been fun seeing Clay become more relaxed at each visit. I just hope that when Clay visits again, the script-writer comes up with a different introduction. It was hard to hear the same exact words each time.
Do you think Clay will sing on The Tonight Show again? Do you think he will get “couch” time?
The following videos show the interview and Clay’s performance of “The Way.”

I always enjoyed Clay and his appearances on Leno over the past years.. I'm sure that Clay will be back, once the promotion for the new CD is in the works. What I like is that Clay always gets couch time with Jay, to sit and just talk a bit…
Thanks CANN for putting up these videos..
Hugs,
Judy
I so love that appearance on The Tonight Show and I thought that performace of The Way was one of his best! LOVED IT! He really does have so much charisma, class and maturity. Thank you for bringing back some wonderful memories! I hope they are smart enough to have a "once in a lifetime talent and personality" like him back on the show again this year!!!!
I enjoyed those video's of Clay on the Tonight Show. I always thought that Clay got along great with Jay and hope to see him back on his show to promote his new CD. Back then, it seemed like everytime Clay even moved…the fans were screaming. How adorable. Of course, I still feel the same way about him even after 7 years. I loved his song "The Way." Was always one of my favorites.
If I had to choose between Brad, George and Clay, it would always be Clay!!
Thank you for bringing over this info and the videos.
I hope Clay visits Leno again and gets LOTS of couch time.
I am with Rally- I would always pick Clay before the other two.
Clay has had some great moments-he is so quick witted!
You can never get too much of Clay Aiken! (now if he would just BLOG!!)
Thanks for the memories!
Patty
I always enjoyed it when Clay Aiken was on the Jay Leno show. They seemed to have good rapport. Now that Jay is going back to his original hour, maybe Clay will be back on his show when his CD comes out.
