Clay Aiken – Still The Contestant To Beat

The news and reviews just keep showing up.  It is amazing how much attention the show, Celebrity Apprentice along with Clay Aiken receive each week.  This article is the 4th one here in 24 hours.   But…in this blog, there are links to a couple of my favorite weekly reviews.  So…we are back to quoting some of the Clay mentions or other fun mentions and the link.  Again, I encourage you to leave a comment if you can.  It is always difficult when you don’t get feedback.  The comments really encourage the site and writer to continue to write positive things.

Television Blend – Celebrity Apprentice Power Rankings:  The Good And The Bad of Aubrey O’Day

By Jessica Grabert and Mack Rawden

This is always a fun review to read and I always enjoy the Power Rankings.

… Despite Clay having a little trouble reigning in Penn’s over-pitching, team Forte seemed to do extremely well, putting together a photograph with Dayana and the cologne that also incorporated Trump’s tie line at Macy’s.

… Unanimous came ahead with the win, despite having the fugliest cologne display ever created.

The Celebrity Apprentice Power Rankings

#1) Clay Aiken (34): Celebrity Apprentice was a little frustrating to watch this week as Clay had a little trouble pulling weight as project manager. Even more troubling was his presentation, which seemed as if Clay had put little to no thought into. Still, Clay’s consensus management is far better than Aubrey’s dictatorship and as a creative force, hard worker, and mostly clear of any freak-outs, Clay is still the contestant to beat.

philly2philly – Clay Aiken Survives and Penn Jillette Is Fired

By Dennis Bakay

… Aubrey O’Day wasted little time in trashing her teammates behind their backs. She’s not only full of herself and narcissistic, but she’s egomaniacal.

… Aside from that, their (Unanimous) display was terrible and looked like it was thrown together by middle school students.

… The team came up with a great concept for their display, centered around Dayana’s beauty. They took a gorgeous photo of her holding the cologne. The problem was, the signature slogan wasn’t prominently displayed. Overall, their display was 10 times better than Aubrey’s hot mess.

… Penn and Dayana promptly threw Clay under the bus, but Donald decided that Penn’s slogan was so bad that he was responsible for their defeat. Using his classic line, The Donald layed down the hammer on Jillette: “Penn, you’re fired.”

Clay Aiken’s Brush With Success

by brookecain

… Last night’s “Celebrity Apprentice” was really too close for comfort for Clay Aiken fans. The Raleigh recording star came unbelievably close to being fired by Donald Trump after Clay’s team lost the night’s challenge. I personally thought Clay was a goner.

… Right away, Penn Jillette (also on Clay’s team) said he did not want to be the project manager, so it was pretty much up to Clay. When Trump asked Clay why he was project manager, Clay joked: “Penn and I seem to be at bat, and I smell better than him.”

… For what it’s worth, the display Clay’s team made looked a lot more professional than the one Aubrey designed. Aubrey’s design, it has been decided at the News & Observer office, looked like a 4-H crop science display at the N.C. State Fair.  My apologies to 4-Hers across this great state.

… I really thought Clay was getting fired (and the fact that Clay didn’t live-tweet the episode, as he usually does, also fueled online speculation that his time might have been up). It really could have gone either way between Penn and Clay: Penn came up with the hated slogan, but Clay approved it.

You can read the rest of Brooke’s review at HAPPINESS

After watching Dancing With The Stars Monday Night, I just had to post the following.  I know it has nothing to do with Celebrity Apprentice…but…it is Classic Clay!!

Clay Aiken Digs Into His Theatrical Roots

In 2005, Clay Aiken traveled around the country presenting  The Joyful Noise Tour. Aiken dug into his theatrical roots for this holiday show. He  wrote a story that incorporated traditional Christmas songs and tunes from his Christmas CD,  Merry Christmas With Love.   He spent little time in the spotlight, instead letting the actors and dancers perform scenes as he sang. It was more than a concert, but still highlighted the wonderful voice of Clay, backed by his accomplished back-up singers. It was fun to see how Clay used some talented actors and singers from his hometown of Raleigh. He also used capable performers from local theater groups from the area of the concert.

Did you get to see this concert live?? I was lucky enough to see it twice.

Because of the talent of so many fans, we have many wonderful pictures from that tour. Please vote for your favorite picture. This will be hard!!

Monday was my travel day from Raleigh to San Francisco…Why in the world isn’t there a non-stop flight?  It took much too long!

I guess I need to get back to my schedule now that I’m home.  You have all been very patient with all my travels.  Thank you!

Clay Aiken – The Best Gala Yet!

I am writing today a bit earlier than usual.  I am on my way to catch a plane to New York City.  I am lucky enough to have a ticket to Cyndi Lauper’s Home For The Holidays at the Beacon Theatre.  That means that I will hear many top entertainers, including Clay Aiken.  I am already excited!!

I will be in New York until Thursday when I head to Raleigh for an amazing week-end of fun, education, and celebration.  I think this will be the best Gala yet thanks to everyone at The National Inclusion Project.

Please have patience with CANN for the week.  The main purpose for this week is to give “live” reports about what is happening.  My schedule will be a bit different, but I think it is important to get the information to you as soon as I can.    AND…if there is any important news that breaks I will try hard to post it immediately!!

I can’t wait to see so many of you in Raleigh.  It will be a great time to meet new friends and renew friendships with those I have met before.

And, for those at home, be sure and comment if you want some specific news or information.  I will do what I can to make you feel like you are a right there with us!!

So……..lets start the week-end with some Holiday Cheer!!

Many thanks to all the talented people who have provided these beautiful blends.  I wish I knew who there were.

Clay Aiken – Fall Into Fall

By musicfan123 · Comments 12165(10)http%3A%2F%2Fclaynewsnetwork.com%2F2011%2F09%2F23%2Fclay-aiken-fall-into-fall%2FClay+Aiken+-+Fall+Into+Fall2011-09-23+07%3A31%3A34musicfan123http%3A%2F%2Fclaynewsnetwork.com%2F%3Fp%3D12165

The falling leaves drift by my window
The falling leaves of red and gold
I see your lips, the summer kisses
The sunburned hands I used to hold

Since you went away the days grow long
And soon I’ll hear old winter’s song
But I miss you most of all, my darling
When autumn leaves start to fall

Lyrics by Johnny Mercer

Fall…Its here…The first touch of Autumn.  Yes, today is the Autumnal Equinox, meaning that the sun will be directly on the Equator of the Earth and the hours of day and night will be equal.

I know that many of you are still suffering through sweltering temperatures and thinking about fall is the furthest thing from your mind.  Some others are being buried in torrential rains.  But a few of you will feel autumn in the air as the chill tickles your skin.

I love it when you see the leaves start to drop, a bit of gold here and a little scarlet there. Early autumn harvests of pumpkins, apples, and grapes tantalize our senses. The fall season gifts us with an array of color, texture, and taste…jack-o-lanterns, pumpkin pie, apple cider and pie, fresh grapes, and wine…I say bring it on!

I have no idea where Clay Aiken is today.  If he is in Raleigh, he will celebrate the beginning of fall in the rain…the weatherman says there will be a 90% chance of rain!  And if he is in New York, he will have to carry an umbrella as thunderstorms are in the forecast

Clay…come to California!!  It will be 85 degrees here and it is clear and calm
I know this is a stretch, but the following video of Clay singing Falling is the best I could do!!  Enjoy!

Clay Aiken – Brilliant, Clever, and Resourceful

By musicfan123 · Comments 12028(9)http%3A%2F%2Fclaynewsnetwork.com%2F2011%2F09%2F15%2Fclay-aiken-brilliant-clever-and-resourceful%2FClay+Aiken+-+Brilliant%2C+Clever%2C+and+Resourceful2011-09-15+08%3A32%3A27musicfan123http%3A%2F%2Fclaynewsnetwork.com%2F%3Fp%3D12028

The more one learns about Clay Aiken, the more you realize that he is brilliant, clever and resourceful…and he has been that way long before he became a household name.

On Wednesday I was doing some research for a friend and I went to YouTube, hoping to find some information.  BIG MISTAKE!!  Somehow it is easy to get lost in YouTube.  It is a font of so much information.  You can stay there for hours!!

I found some videos of Clay Aiken that I had no idea ever existed…I thought I was somewhat up-to-date on Aiken News…but it seems I missed a lot.

Did you know that the shrewd Mr. Aiken contacted the local Raleigh media outlets when he returned from his audition in Atlanta, Georgia?  Clay auditioned in Atlanta on October 22, 2002. Upon the return to his home, he contacted the media to see if anyone was interested in his American Idol journey.  Within a few days, Lynda Loveland visited Clay at his home in Raleigh and recorded an interview.  He related the story of his Atlanta audition and even sang a few lines from Over The Rainbow and Always and Forever.  On November 2nd, about 10 days after Clay arrived home, WRAL broadcast the first video.

WRAL must have gotten a great response to the interview because the station covered Clay throughout his American Idol journey.  The station broadcast at least 7 different videos of Clay on the show…and Lynda Loveland even covered the finale live, in Hollywood.

The following video is loads of fun to see.  The quality is rather bad, but seeing Clay tell his story is exciting.

Fun, isn’t it?  If any of you have any videos of the WRAL shows from 2003, I would love to include them in a CANN blog.  Please e-mail me at musicfan@claynewsnetwork.com

Clay Aiken Celebrates All Things Irish!

By musicfan123 · Comments 10246(7)http%3A%2F%2Fclaynewsnetwork.com%2F2011%2F03%2F17%2Fclay-aiken-celebrates-all-things-irish%2FClay+Aiken+Celebrates+All+Things+Irish%212011-03-17+07%3A15%3A01musicfan123http%3A%2F%2Fwww.claynewsnetwork.com%2F%3Fp%3D10246
Thursday, March 17th, 2011

What is Clay Aiken doing on St. Patrick’s Day?  Is he celebrating in California or New York or maybe in Raleigh, enjoying a few days to recover from his successful National Tour?  Whatever he is doing, I hope he wears one of his green sweaters, eats corned beef and cabbage, and sings a lovely Irish song to his darling son.

St. Patrick’s Day was originally a religious holiday to honor St. Patrick who introduced Christianity to Ireland in the fifth century.  The holiday has now evolved into a celebration of all things Irish.

  • The worlds first St. Patrick’s Day parade occurred on March 17, 1762, in New York City, featuring Irish soldiers serving in the English military. This parade became an annual event, with President Truman attending in 1948. Congress proclaimed March as Irish-American Heritage Month in 1995, and the President issues a proclamation each year.
  • 36.3 million U.S. residents claimed Irish ancestry in 2008. This number was more than eight times the population of Ireland itself (4.4 million).
  • St. Patrick was born in 385 AD somewhere along the west coast of Britain, possibly in the Welsh town of Banwen. At age 16, he was captured and sold into slavery to a sheep farmer. He escaped when he was 22 and spent the next 12 years in a monastery. In his 30s he returned to Ireland as a Christian missionary. He died at Saul in 461 AD and is buried at Downpatrick.
  • The Irish flag is green, white and orange. The green symbolizes the people of the south, and orange, the people of the north. White represents the peace that brings them together as a nation.
  • Legend says that each leaf of the clover means something: the first is for hope, the second for faith, the third for love and the fourth for luck.
  • Leprechauns are little make-believe fairies from Ireland. They are the little old men who are shoemakers for the fairies.  They usually stand about 2 feet tall.  The legend is that if you catch one you can force him to tell you where he hides his gold.
  • School children have started a little tradition of their own. They pinch classmates who don’t wear green on this holiday.  Wearing green is strictly a U.S. custom, as the color green is not popular in Ireland.  Green is connected to the old green flag and a time when Ireland was not free.
  • Many people will be eating Irish food such as Irish Stew and Corned Beef and Cabbage. Corned Beef is not an Irish dish.  It is what Americans think the Irish eat.  A more traditional meal would be ham and cabbage or bacon and cabbage.

What are you doing to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day?  Will you remember to wear green?  Will you tip back a Guinness?  Whatever you do, have fun and think back to the Tried & True Tour… and look forward to all the wonderful things that are in the future for Clay and his fans!!!

Clay Aiken – Hear The Audience Screaming!

By musicfan123 · Comments 10184(4)http%3A%2F%2Fclaynewsnetwork.com%2F2011%2F01%2F30%2Fclay-aiken-hear-the-audience-screaming%2FClay+Aiken+-+Hear+The+Audience+Screaming%212011-01-30+08%3A00%3A48musicfan123http%3A%2F%2Fwww.claynewsnetwork.com%2F%3Fp%3D10184
Sunday, January 30th, 2011

Today, Sunday, January 30th, Clay Aiken will be performing in the large RBC stadium in his hometown of Raleigh.  Clay will be singing the National Anthem at the NHL All-Star game at 4:00pm ET.  Clay has had many opportunities to sing in Raleigh and he certainly has sung in RBC arena before.

If you were a fan of Clay when he was on American Idol, you probably remember the AI Tour stop in Raleigh.  On August 6th, 2003, the residents of Raleigh opened their hearts to Clay as he rose triumphantly on a platform from beneath the stage.  It was a moment that will always be remembered by Clay and his many fans.  When his performance was finished, Clay stood silently for several minutes as he received an ovation that brought him to tears.

Today, Raleigh has the opportunity to open their hearts again when Clay steps up to sing the National Anthem. There is no doubt that Clay will sing with a strong voice and show his pride for his city and country.

I love the pictures from Clay’s American Idol performance in Raleigh.  When you see the pictures you can almost hear the audience screaming its love to Clay.

Quote of the Day

It is not always about performance art, but about receiving positive energy from people with positive spirits. Sometimes we can see someone's spirit, and those are the people with great energy. Those are the people that get me through the day, especially on Broadway. -Clay Aiken
