Monday, January 3rd, 2011

For me, Sunday, January 2nd was the official end of the holiday season.  Between Christmas and the New Year, life here was pretty hectic.  As much fun as it was to be surrounded by family, I look forward to getting back to a less frantic schedule.

For the reason above, I have chosen to publish three of my  favorite Clay Aiken memories of 2010.  Even if you have seen these video before, they are worth another play.  These songs fit Clay perfectly.

Are you interested in some Clay concert tickets??  If so, stay tuned because in a few days we will be having a contest for 2 concert tickets for the San Francisco Concert on Saturday,March 12th.  These tickets should be good as they were bought as part of the PBS Pledge to KQED.  I think the contest will be fun and I hope that the tickets will find a good home.  More info about the contest and the tickets will be posted tomorrow.

Enjoy the videos!!

Well…..it has started!!  Check out the following graphic.  Isn’t it nice to see??

We all would love to hear Clay Aiken performing Unchained Melody on the AC radio stations.  Well, devoted fan, MagicalMusic,  decided to do something about it.  She requested the song and  received the following e-mail from the station:

So glad to have you as a listener of Ez~! We’ll play Clay Aiken’s “Unchained Melody” just now and trust you’re able to be tuned.
We’ll check out others by Clay Aiken and will be glad to add some.
Again, thank you for being with us tonight.
Best,
Lane and Martha in Atlanta

Thank you, Magical………you got the ball rolling!!!

As we look towards the end of the year, we cannot help but think of the exciting things that happened for Clay this year.  It is a time of reflection.  I thought it might be interesting if everyone took a moment and let us know their TOP Clay moments for 2010.  Maybe there is just one, but maybe you have a Top Ten List.  What ever it is, lets see if we can put together a list of 2010 Top Clay Aiken moments.

For me:

1.  That “moment” in Unchained Melody…..the key change just builds to an amazing place…..

2.  Bringing Broadway Home…….why did I make the decision to stay at home that night?  It was amazing.

3.  Clay’s beautiful performance of Both Sides Now will be something I will remember forever.

4.  Reno……Hammer pants…….Clay was so proud to show off the outfit, including the bling around his waist!!   AND….I was there!!

5.  Amazed and excited that Linda Eder was on the stage with Clay in Raleigh.  I have been lucky enough to see her in concert twice before her appearance in Raleigh.

WAIT—I need to stop.  I could go on all night!!  Help me out….What are your moments to remember?

Clay Aiken – Is It Fall Yet?

Wednesday, September 22nd, 2010

Bring out the jackets and rakes and get ready to go apple picking. Enjoy watching the trees as the leaves start to change their color from green to yellow. Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2010 is the Autumnal Equinox, which marks the first official day of fall.

Today at 11:09 ET, the First Day of fall will start as the sun will be directly on the Equator of the Earth and the hours of day and night will be equal.

The first day of fall marks the start of shorter days and longer nights as well.

So, where ever you are and from whatever country you belong to, if and only if you are in the Northern Hemisphere countries, a very happy first day of fall to you.

I have no idea where Clay Aiken is today, but it has been reported that he has been in New York.  If he is there, I doubt he will realize it is the beginning of fall.  The weatherman predicts that it will be 85 degrees in Manhattan today.  If Clay is home in Raleigh, he will probably think it is still summer as it is supposed to be in the nineties.

It’s a stretch, I know…….but I still hope you will enjoy the following video of “Falling.”

Clay Aiken – Memphis Chooses Quality Programs

WKNO – TV/10 is the Public Television Station that serves the community of Memphis, Tennessee.  Now more than 50 years old, WKNO chooses quality programs to:

“illuminate, inform, entertain, and educate the people of the Mid-South community.”

Tried & True: Live is airing on WKNO/Channel 10
Sunday, August 15, 8 p.m., 11 p.m. and 2 a.m.
& Tuesday, August 17, 9:30 p.m.
Airing on WKNO2
Tuesday, August 17, 7 p.m.

The following picture and article are on their web page.

Chart-topping “American Idol” vocalist Clay Aiken brings his clarion voice and personal interpretations to new arrangements of iconic songs, including “Mack the Knife,” “It’s Impossible,” “Moon River,” “Misty,” “Unchained Melody” and a duet with Broadway star Linda Eder on Roy Orbison’s classic lament “Crying.” Fellow “American Idol” star Ruben Studdard guest stars.

Taped in Aiken’s hometown, Raleigh, North Carolina, before a wildly enthusiastic audience, Aiken brings his powerful vocals and uniquely personal interpretations to new arrangements of some of the most iconic songs ever written, including “Mack the Knife,” “It’s Impossible,” “Moon River,” “Misty,” “Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You,” “Suspicious Minds,” “Unchained Melody,” “What Kind of Fool Am I?” and a stellar duet with his special guest, Broadway star Linda Eder, on Roy Orbison’s classic lament, “Crying.”

Having grown up listening to this genre of music, Aiken says, “I wanted to do something that paid tribute to the Johnny Mathis, Perry Como and Andy Williams type of sound, because those artists sang really emotional material and did it wonderfully.” And there were the “tried and true” songs themselves, which Aiken finds “melodically appealing and beautiful.” He adds, “I’ve often joked with friends that I was born at the wrong time because the songs I like to sing are all from earlier eras. So performing this kind of music was an opportunity to just be myself.”

This station also broadcast a wonderful interview with Clay.  The 30-minute program is a wonderful introduction to Clay and covers his musical career and his work with The National Inclusion Project and UNICEF. This is a “must-see” interview that is full of lots of information and new clips of Clay in his role of UNICEF Ambassador.  You can download the video at Clack Unlimited

Clay Aiken – A Broadway Solstice

By musicfan123 · Comments 9881(5)http%3A%2F%2Fclaynewsnetwork.com%2F2010%2F06%2F21%2Fclay-aiken-a-broadway-solstice%2FClay+Aiken+-+A+Broadway+Solstice2010-06-21+14%3A51%3A15musicfan123http%3A%2F%2Fwww.claynewsnetwork.com%2F%3Fp%3D9881
Monday, June 21st, 2010

Here I am,  sitting at my computer on the first day of summer.  I should be happy and I am.  But, I am also envious of all the people who are able to attend the special concert, Bringing Broadway Home. The concert, a fundraiser for The North Carolina Theater will star Clay Aiken, Lauren Kennedy, Sharon Lawrence, Terrence Mann and Quiana Parler.  Each star has  a history with the theater and is hoping to raise  money for the theater group.

For Clay Aiken fans, this is the opportunity to hear him sing songs that we have not heard he sing before.  He has said that he will sing two songs from his new CD, Tried & True, but, but since all the songs will be from Broadway, he will be performing other songs too.

Clay has been active in promoting this concert.  He has given many interviews on both regional radio and television to encourage people to attend the concert.

I hope that those who are lucky enough to attend will give us some great reports of the concert and the fun they had.  I also hope that the concert brings much needed funds to the North Carolina Theatre.

Today is The Summer Solstice  It’s the longest day of the year. The amount of daylight only goes down from here for the next six months.  Summer Solstice is the meteorological start of summer. It’s time to enjoy vacations, great weather, pools, baseballs, and everything else that goes along with the favorite season of kids and most adults. Grab your favorite beverage and enjoy the season, because for many of us it is all too short.

The Summer Solstice has been a very special time of year for many cultures through history. People have built monuments dedicated to the solstice and tracking the sun and stars.  Stonehenge in England and Machu Picchu in Peru are both believed to be such monuments. Midsummer has long been believed to be special for falling in love and getting married, and herbs and flowers harvested on Midsummer Day were thought to have magical qualities, like making people invisible.

Did you know? The sun does not set at the North Pole today. There is 24 hours of sunlight. Does it make up for that cold day in December when the sun does not rise above the horizon? No, but on this day it sure does feel good wherever you are!

My Favorite Things

  • Realizing that three weeks from today, Clay Aiken will be performing live in Raleigh, North Carolina
  • Observing the loving, hands-on way that Clay has been guiding his fans at the OFC.
  • Reading the answers that Clay has given.  They are full of information, but also lots of fun. Bi-lingual Clay……who knew!!
  • Watching Mens Figure Skating at the Olympics (one of the reasons this is a short blog) Congrats to Evan!!
  • Seeing and participating in the fun and excitement that is a part of the ClayNation the past few weeks
  • Seeing the wonderful response to the VIP Packages.  So many kids will be helped by this
  • Finding all the google alerts that are showing up in support of the concert.  Each site needs hits and calm, positive comments.  The more hits and comments, the more publicity Clay will receive.

It’s been a heck of a day for Clay Aiken and his fans.  There have been so many emotions, good and bad.

Maybe I am a “Pollyanna”, but I am going with the positive side of what is happening.

It has been so wonderful to see the excitement in Clay’s most recent blogs.  He has shown a joy that is contagious.  Clay is giving us something special.  It is easy to look forward to it.

To know that soon Clay will be sharing his music with the world is exciting.  His wonderful spirit and talent, along with his gorgeous voice will inspire, entertain and delight.

Most of Clay’s fans are the most enjoyable and loving people around.  They are fans because they appreciate Clay’s singing.  Some look beyond, seeing what he has done to make the world a better place.  They help each other and they support Clay in both his professional and humanitarian endeavors.  They are amazing people.  Thank goodness there are only a few that don’t understand the boundaries and try to obtain information before anyone else.

Clay is a fascinating man.  Let’s look forward to the coming year and be right here waiting for Clay and the gifts he has for us.

I came across the following video today and want to share it with you.  It takes us back a long way to the Independent Tour.  Do you remember the acoustic medley?  This montage is a great way to see and hear Clay’s beautiful voice and his ability to entertain.  I hope you will watch and enjoy it.

March 12th – Raleigh!!  Something exciting!!  That’s all we know for sure.  Each and every Clay Aiken fan has their own opinion about the news, but each one seems to be almost as excited as Clay seems to be.

How many of you have already checked out the airfare to Raleigh? How about the hotel prices?  Have you contacted your travel buddies??  Are you ready to press the “yes” button as soon as the details are out?

Since we really don’t have the details, maybe we need to just have a bit of fun as we wait.  Thats what this blog is about…fun!!

Clay Aiken will be featured in a PBS special in June.  Since it will probably be Clay with a symphony orchestra, it will be a classy affair.  BIG QUESTION!  What should Clay wear?? (I told you its all for fun today!)  Here are a few looks that might be appropriate.  What do you think?

GLAAD Awards

Christmas 2007

Tonight Show - Leno

Nick at Night

Emmys

American Music Awards

Billboards

There are so many other great outfits.  I probably did not post your favorite.  But, I did the best I could.  I left out great outfits when I didn’t have a wonderful picture to show it off.

Let us know your favorite look.

Quote of the Day

It is not always about performance art, but about receiving positive energy from people with positive spirits. Sometimes we can see someone's spirit, and those are the people with great energy. Those are the people that get me through the day, especially on Broadway. -Clay Aiken
