Clay Aiken – Songs That Strike Passion

Nobody sings a love song better than Clay Aiken.  He has the ability to make us fall in love over and over again.

The best love songs are in the heart of the beholder. Songs that strike a cord of passion, belonging, and self expression are the ones that end up being your favorites. The very second a song starts playing will most likely identify an instant in time when you were either falling in love, deeply in love, or falling out of love.

It takes a great artist and great lyrics to be a source of inspiration and expression.  The combination is an influence on your emotions which help to decide what the best love songs are for you.

There is a love song for every genre of music. From hard rock to the oldies and gospel, there is a limitless amount of music to choose from to celebrate the love in your heart.

What are your favorite love songs of all time that you would love to hear Clay Aiken sing? Are they classics or contemporaries? Maybe you like a ballad or one with a dance beat. How about country or pop or rock?

We did such a good job of putting together a list of Christmas songs that I am sure we can come up with a great selection of love songs for Clay to sing.

Please list your top three or four love or romantic songs that you would like  Clay to sing. It doesn’t matter if he has already recorded them or if they are new to him.  And try not to read the comments until you list your own selections.  Of course, if you post four songs today and then think of the very best, just add it in another comment.

If you have the time, why not share why you like the songs.  Also, have you kept one favorite song for years or do your favorites change over time?

Let’s give ourselves one week to compile our list so the deadline is Saturday, February 13th.  I will list the winners on Valentine’s Day.

Have fun and let’s be creative.

  1. I would love to hear Clay sing "Love Me" as Elvis recorded it in the mid 50's, "Twelfth of Never", "Keeper of the Keys", and "You'll Accompany Me".

  2. 1. My absolute favourite Beatles song is "The Long and Winding Road". George Michael has sung a fantastic live version (better than the original imo -) but I'm sure Clay could match him 🙂
    2. I love old musicals and one of the most romantic songs ever was from "Carousel" – "if I loved you". I'd love to hear Clay's lower register on that one.

  3. Well I don't know that I'd call them love songs but when I heard Clay was doing songs from 50/60's two songs came to my mind that I would just love to hear him sing. You're only lonely – JD Souther and I started a joke – Bee Gee's. I think these would be perfect for his voice and he would sing the heck out of them. It will be fun to see which songs he chooses for the cd. (I know we kinda got a hint of a few of them)

  4. How fun!! I hope we get lots of songs!!

    1. When Love Takes You In (Steven Curtis Chapman)
    2. I'll Be Seeing You
    3. How I Love The Rain

I may come back and post a couple more. I don't want to be a hog, but………there are so many wonderful songs!!

  5. "Misty"–Clay should sing Misty, for abolutely sure!
    Others:

    The Shelter of Your Arms
Come To Me, Bend To Me
    With These Hands

Would Love to hear songs from broadway musicals, like "Who Will Buy" from Oliver, or "If Ever I Would Leave You" from Camelot.

Well, the thought of Clay singing from an older repertoire is just so exciting, I can't even think straight.

Clay has class, and he should be singing classy songs.

  6. There are some really good suggestions here for Clay to sing.

If I Loved You really strikes a chord with my heart! I love that!
I'll Be Seeing You is also a fantastic suggestion.

Let me think of some more. I remember a lot of 1940's songs that my mom used to sing. I think I have some of her albums that Ill have to look over. Oh, I remember one from when I was young called The Falling Leaves that was beautiful.

  7. Well, obviously Clay Aiken can wrap that silky smooth, perfect voice around any song! But you asked for three, so I'll try to choose! A song I've always loved is Nights in White Satin by the Moody Blues, then there's Always and Bed of Roses by Bon Jovi. I'm sure I could think of many, many more, but those are three songs that I really enjoy and would love to hear Clay make his own!

  8. I just want to hear Clay sing ANYTHING AT ALL!!!

But, I would be really happy if he sang:
If Ever I Would Leave You
    When Love Takes You In
    Half of April

  9. The following 3 songs, I would love for Clay to record:
    1. "Only You" by the Platters
    2. It's Twilight Time also by the Platters
    3. "To Love Somebody" by the Bee Gees

    It would be just awesome

    • Would also love to hear Clay sing and or record
"Harbor Lights" also by the Platters-

also what about some Roy Orbinson songs"x

  10. I also love Sam Cooke!!!!!! I don't know if Clay's voice would be suited for some of Sam's songs
but I sure wish he could try.

  11. Oh my, there are so many wonderful songs and Clay could sing any of them and sound better than the original artist. I will list four or five that I can think of right now and then later on list a couple more, if that is OK.

    1. I Started A Joke – Bee Gees
    2. A Whiter Shade of Pale – Procol Harem
    3. When A Man Loves A Woman – Percy Sledge
    4. The Rose – Bette Midler

I thought of ten more while I was typing these four. This is fun, but really hard because there are so many wonderful, beautiful songs.

Thanks for doing this musicfan, it is great.

  12. I can't help falling in love with you, recorded by Elvis
    Town without pity, Gene Pitney
When a man loves a woman

  13. Deep Purple –Our Love is Here To Stay–Smoke Gets In Your Eyes–last but not the lest—-I"LL Get BY–Anniemae

  14. Hands down, if I could have any wish, it would be for him to record When A Man Loves A Woman. Some other favorites of mine are These Arms of Mine – Ottis Redding and How Can You Mend A Broken Heart – BeeGees. Also, as a fourth, I'd love to hear him sing Oh, Girl.

  15. 1. Nobody Does It Better By Paul McCartney. This is a very sensual love song. I love the melody and the words.
    2. Something About Us From the first time I heard this I just loved it. I think he picked this song because it describes him and Reed.
    3. When A Man Loves A Woman The title says it all.
    4. Sexual Healing I could listen to this one over and over.

  16. I would love to hear Clay sing "Stranger In Paradise", from "Kismet". Also, one of my favorites from his Demos, "I Will Be Here". My favorite, from the last album, "Grace Of God"

  17. Gosh….Clay can sing anything….. but I have to say, I sure hope "It's Impossible" is on the CD. I completely adore this song…..It just touches your soul….and after hearing Clay sing it with just the piano…..I can only imagine what it will sound like with the full orchestration. I love the older songs, so I know I'm gonna be happy with all his choices…I've loved everything he has sung so far in 7 years…so I don't see a change happening….. I can't wait to get my hands on this CD.

    HUgs,
    Judy

  18. "How To Handle A Woman" from the musical Camelot. (NO pun intended ala Spamelot) I love Richard Harris' version in the movie, but love to hear Clay sing it.

  19. These are my choices for Clay's beautiful voice:
Love is a Many Splendored Thing – Frank Sinatra
A Summer Place – Andy Williams
I Only Have Eyes For You and Where Do I Begin (Theme to Love Story)

  22. Back again – I'm on a roll now..

    The Look of Love
    These Foolish Things
    The Greatest love of all
    Feel like making love
    Nature Boy

  23. This is so hard you don't know.

    1. Lover all alone
    2. I wanna know what love is
    3. Something about us
    4. To love somebody.

Am almost sure I'll be posting another comment because I have another list of 12 songs that i'd love him to sing.

  24. This is a very tough decision because Clay would sing the heck out of any song I love.

At the top of the list would be To Love Somebody. Just thinking about that gaze when he sang on AI….

Another would be Somewhere My Love which was one of my Grandma’s favorite songs. I think it was Frank Sinatra who sang it but I’m not 100% sure.

Two more that I would love to hear him sing are Heaven by Bryan Adams and Love of a Lifetime by Firehouse. Both are special songs to me and my hubby.
