It is difficult to realize that it has been almost a month since Clay Aiken was one of the featured performers at the Family Equality Council’s Night at the Pier. This event brought together LGBT parents, allies, and honored guests to celebrate the progress we have made as a community of loving families towards full equality. The event included cocktails, live music, silent auction and a seated dinner.
So much has happened to Clay since that performance. Much of the information and great pictures from the event have not been published.
According to Winnie McCroy, a writer for Edge – New York, more than 750 people crowded the Pier 60 Ballroom to celebrate Family Equality Council’s 30th anniversary. The event reached record numbers in attendance and raised $810,000 for their ongoing advocacy on behalf of LGBT families.
Clay sang two songs. He started off the performance with This Is The Moment, from the Broadway musical, Jekyll and Hyde. To close this part of the evening, Clay sang the beautiful song, Home, from the musical, The Wiz. At the end there was much applause and cheering.
Fortunately there are many great pictures of Clay from this night. A big thanks to dancermom and dancerdad from CV who shared their pictures with us.
