A YouTube of Clay’s performance on Tuesday night has been added to this article

Tuesday, May 8th, must have been a very busy day for Clay Aiken.  For fans of Clay, his busy schedule had many fans checking their computer a bit more than usual.

In the early afternoon, Clay visited the CNN studio in New York.  He had the opportunity to chat with Brooke Baldwin who anchors the CNN Newsroom weekdays from 2-4pm. Clay and Brooke talked about Amendment One,  a constitutional amendment that defines marriage solely as a union between a man and a woman.  Clay has been an active voice in his campaign to defeat the measure.  North Carolina held their election on Tuesday and Clay was asked to share his ideas about why he hopes the amendment is defeated.

Clay was articulate, knowledgeable, and was able to explain the pitfalls of the amendment so that the average person could understand.

A video of Clay’s discussion can be seen at at the following site.  I watched it twice and each time, I learned something new about the amendment.  Press on CNN for the video.  The  screencaps are from Cotton at the CV.  Thanks for sharing!

On Tuesday night, Clay was one of the  featured performers at the Family Equality Council’s Night at the Pier.  The night brought together  LGBT parents, allies, and honored guests to celebrate the progress we have made as a community of loving families towards full equality. The event included  cocktails, live music, silent auction and  a seated dinner.

There was at least one full table of Clay fans who were able to attend the event and support Clay and the organization.  According to their reports, Clay seemed  happy, confident and totally comfortable and was kind enough to pose for pictures with many of the guests.

Clay sang two songs.  He started off the performance with  This Is The Moment, from the Broadway musical, Jekyll and Hyde.  This seems to be one of Clay’s favorites as he performed it at a special performance when he was in high school.

Before his last song, Clay gave a heartfelt speech.  He talked about the fine work of the FEC and related it to Amendment One in North Carolina.

To close this part of the evening, Clay sang the beautiful song, Home, from the musical, The Wiz.  According to those in attendance, the audience became enthralled with this performance by Clay. Towards the end of the song, there was there was some spontaneous applause.  At the end there was much applause and cheering.

Don’t you wish you had been there?  I certainly miss hearing Clay sing.  I feel sure that there will be some videos of the event.  Please check back during the day as I will add any new information about the event and Clay’s performance.  We do have a few pictures of Clay at the event.  According to those in attendance, the suit was gray, not beige…the difference in the lighting and cameras made some pictures look the wrong color.

A big thank you to bigappleforclay for the video!

Clay Aiken – Creating A Buzz

By musicfan123 · Comments 16067(8)http%3A%2F%2Fclaynewsnetwork.com%2F2012%2F05%2F04%2Fclay-aiken-creating-a-buzz%2FClay+Aiken+-+Creating+A+Buzz2012-05-04+08%3A17%3A33musicfan123http%3A%2F%2Fclaynewsnetwork.com%2F%3Fp%3D16067
Friday, May 4th, 2012

On Thursday, the Internet was buzzing about multi-talented Clay Aiken.  His name and information about him could be found in many different categories.  It seems this young man is creating a buzz all over the Internet.

Clay’s name was linked with Dee Snider.  Dee’s newest album drops next Tuesday and the reviews are beginning to pop up.  The album titled Dee Does Broadway, is filled with familiar songs and features many singers in duets with the Twisted Sister star.

One of the first reviews to reach the Internet is on The Dallas Voice.com and is very positive.  I loved what they said about Dee’s duet with Clay Aiken:

I waited with anticipation for track 8, “Luck Be a Lady Tonight.” Teaming with Clay Aiken, this is the musical equivalent of The Twilight Zone. The song starts off gently only to screech into high gear. The juxtaposition is a fun one. Aiken clearly wins in the slower intro, but he holds his own against

Snider’s shrill vocals. Aiken can actually belt out a heavy metal tune and sounds in the vein of Ozzy Osbourne or Don Dokken. The potential that this song could have been a train wreck is easily dismissed and it turns out to be the best track on the album.

Congratulations to Dee and Clay.  I can’t wait to hear the song on Tuesday.  To read the entire article about Dee Does Broadway, click DALLASVOICE.

Clay has been a friend and supporter of the Caregiver Magazine since 2005.  Clay was a keynote speaker at their conference and a recipient of the Robert M. Barg Memorial Achievement Award in 2005.

On Thursday, the organization announced the Henry Winkler would receive the Magazine’s Rare Advocacy Award on May 24th.  In the article, they did mention Clay.  What a wonderful group of people who are named as previous winners and what an honor to be a part of the group.  The following was posted:

Today’s Caregiver magazine and http://www.Caregiver.com, the nation’s foremost print magazine and Web community educating, training and supporting family and professional caregivers since 1995, will present the Robert M. Barg Memorial Achievement Award to actor, director, author and producer, Henry Winkler during the May 24th Western Connecticut Fearless Caregiver Conference in Southbury Connecticut. “This prestigious award has only been presented to a select few caregiver advocates in the organization’s 17 year history who represent a special brand of kindness and advocacy and whose hard work truly makes a difference in the lives of those in need,” said Gary Barg, founder and editor-in-chief of the first national magazine for caregivers, Today’s Caregiver magazine, http://www.caregiver.com, and the Fearless Caregiver Conferences. Prior recipients of the Robert M. Barg Memorial Achievement Award include Debbie Reynolds, Clay Aiken, Della Reese, Robert Urich, Leeza Gibbons, Clay Walker, Patricia Richardson and Linda Dano.

It is wonderful to know that the name of Clay Aiken will always be a part of this list.  More information can be found at the links in the article.

Theatermania is a group that writes about the top headlines in the field of theater.  On Thursday they announced that:

Cast members from the Tony and Drama Desk-nominated Broadway musical Newsies will join the previously reported recording star Clay Aiken and Tony nominee Montego Glover at Family Equality Council’s Night at the Pier celebration in New York City on Tuesday, May 8.

The event will feature Broadway-themed performances in honor of the 30th anniversary of Family Equality Council – the national organization that connects, supports and represents the one million parents in the U.S. who are lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT).

Aiken is currently featured on NBC’s Celebrity Apprentice. He is perhaps best known for his appearances on FOX’s American Idol, and was seen on Broadway in Monty Python’s Spamalot, playing the role of Sir Robin. Glover received at Tony nomination for her performance as Felicia Farrell in Memphis.

I certainly wish I could be at this wonderful event.  I always love to hear Clay sing and I would love to hear some of the music from Newsies.

CarterMatt.com is a site that reports and reviews TV shows.  They have reported on Celebrity Apprentice after each episode.

Today, the site published an article titled; Clay Aiken fights against Internet hate

The writer says:

Clay Aiken knows one thing by now after years of dealing with the public’s reaction to his sexuality — how to be comfortable in your own skin, and not give in to some of the bigotry and hate that often comes in your direction based on people with no right to judge.

The writer quoted Clay in the article:

“I occasionally retweet some folks just 2 highlight their ignorance & stupidity. I certainly don’t take offense from [stuff] said by idiots!”

I am glad that CarterMatt wrote about this important topic.  Internet bullies and paid bullies are getting out of hand!

If you would like to read the entire article, click on CARTERMATT

NBC/Celebrity Apprentice posted an album of pictures from last Sunday’s show titled Jingle All The Way.  You can see the pictures at NBCPICTURES

It is exciting to see Clay Aiken articles throughout the Internet.  I do believe that people are falling in love with him all over again!

Which one of these topics do you think is the best for Clay?

On the other team, a mutiny results in some of the season’s biggest fireworks when the team hijacks the task away from the Project Manager. It all comes down to the performances, and the celebrities must sing their hearts out to get the win. In the Boardroom, one team is declared the victor, and Mr. Trump sends another celebrity packing.
  • The task:  The celebrities get musical as they are tasked with creating and performing a 90-second jingle promoting ” Good Sam’s Roadside Assistance Program”.
  • The advisors for this episode are Ivanka Trump and Donald Trump Jr

Next…

  • Episode 12: Blown Away – May 6, 2012                          DESCRIPTION: The remaining five celebrities embark on their penultimate task, to create a print ad campaign for the new “CHI Touch” Digital Touchscreen Hair Dryer. With nothing left to lose, both teams go all out, but in completely different directions. The executives pick their winner, and Donald Trump fires another celebrity. Their victory is short lived, when the Final Four are summoned back to the Boardroom, where Mr. Trump sends them to the most important job interview of their lives. Returning Celebrity Apprentice, John Rich, and runner up, Marlee Matlin grill the celebrities and make their recommendations to Donald Trump, who is left with a difficult decision: who will be the final two.
  • Task: As the competition goes down to the wire, the remaining celebrities must create a four-page print ad campaign for the “CHI TOUCH” Digital touchscreen Hair Dryer and pitch it to Farouk Systems and Elle Magazine Executives.
  • Boardroom advisors are Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump
Special Guests: John Rich and Marlee Matlin

And then:

  • Episode 13: And Then There Were Two – May 13, 2012

They must create, host, and sell tickets to a celebrity charity event, featuring a charity awareness ad and a variety show, starring none other than… themselves. With eight celebrities returning to help them, the two finalists must rely on everything they’ve learned all season to win the ultimate prize: $250,000 for their charity, and the title of The Celebrity Apprentice. With time running out, one finalist finds they don’t have the footage needed to edit their charity awareness ad, while the other finalist goes head to head with a returning celebrity.
  • Task:  The two finalists must create, host and sell tickets to a Celebrity Charity event, featuring a charity awareness ad and a variety show, starring celebrities and their helpers
  • Boardroom advisors are Ivanka Trump and Donald Trump Jr.

The Big Day:

  • Episode 14:  – May 20, 2012
  • No official news yet, but we do know that the event will be at the American Museum of Natural History.
  • Tickets for this live event are not being sold…but there are many sponsors who are raffling off tickets for the event.  GOOD LUCK to Clay Aiken and the National Inclusion Project.  I hope that Clay is a part of this exciting ending to a wonderfully exciting season.

Another performance by Clay Aiken was announced on Friday!  The announcement said:

We hope you will join us at the 2012 Harboring Hearts Spring Gala to be held on Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at the Rubin Museum of Art in New York City.

This year, Harboring Hearts is thrilled to honor Dr. Yoshifumi Naka, Cardiothoracic Surgeon at New York Presbyterian and Associate Professor at Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons, and Dr. Donna Mancini, Medical Director, Professor of Medicine and Sudhir Choudhrie Professor of Cardiology at the Center for Advanced Cardiac Care at Columbia University Medical Center.  Dr. Naka and Dr. Mancini, along with the entire cardiac team at New York Presbyterian, work tirelessly to provide the best care for their patients. It is because of these efforts that peers recognize them as leaders in their fields.

With an exciting silent auction and special performances by American Idol alum Clay Aikens, The New York Pops, DJs Nick Cohen and Alexandra Richards, this event promises to be an exciting and memorable evening for all!  So come and support Harboring Hearts and our honorees and enjoy cocktails, food, entertainment, and dancing.

So what is this organization?  According to their website:

Harboring Hearts provides a haven for heart patients and their families while they are seeking medical care away from home. We offer solutions to financial and emotional problems often associated with a family member undergoing cardiac treatment. These problems include finding housing near a hospitalized patient, paying for the family to live in another city while a loved one undergoes treatment, providing emotional support to a heart patient, and accessing basic living needs.

Through community outreach programs and small grants, we have provided financial and emotional support to 200 families all over the country.

As Harboring Hearts grows, we hope to continue to alleviate the financial and emotional burdens often coupled with heart disease. We want to expand our positive impact on the cardiac community by providing comprehensive solutions for the well-being and health of heart patients and their families.

This sounds like a wonderful organization and I would imagine this Gala will be an amazing event…especially with Clay Aiken performing!!

As I said at the beginning of this blog…

Clay Aiken – Honored Father!

The Family Equality Council is an organization that works with all levels of government to advance full social and legal equality for the approximately one million lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender families raising two million children. Some of the concerns of the Family Equality Council are parenting protections, adoption, repeal of the so-called Defense of Marriage Act, health insurance reform, immigration reform, and safe schools.  The Council works at both the state and federal level.

The organization was started in 1979 by a group of gay fathers who got together to form a network of support.  A few years later, the group expanded to include lesbian moms.  In 2007, the name was changed to Family Equality Council.  They have a vision of a world that treats all loving families equally.

On April 21, 2009, Clay Aiken received the Equality Circle Award from the Family Equality Council’s Night at the Tavern event in New York City.  Clay received the award for his commitment to loving families of all kinds, taking a stand, and sharing his journey to parenthood proudly.  According to their website:

Family Equality Council is proud to honor Clay for all of his work on behalf of children and for all that he does to make the world a safer place for his own child and the children of LGBT parents everywhere.

Clay thanked the group and said that the award belonged to everyone in the room.  He also suggested that it was important for straight people to speak up as much as people in the gay community.  The special guest performer for the evening was Broadway star, Linda Eder.

Clay had many fans in attendance for the beautiful dinner.  Held at the famous Tavern on the Green, the tickets were $250.00 per person and included a cocktail reception, a full-course seated dinner, live entertainment, and a silent auction.

When we get some more pictures and reports, we will post them in another blog!!

We hope to bring you up-to-date reports and pictures from the Family Equality Council’s Night at the Tavern.

“The place is beautiful. No Clay yet, but I got a picture of the life sized Clay poster!!” from mustbeme at 6:28

bigappleforclay: He just walked in wearing gray jacket with black velvet collar… white shirt and glasses. He was by himself, walking with a hostess. (or at least she doesn’t see anyone else yet) Jerome is there also. Kind of reddish spikey hair.

The council board members all had their pictures taken with Clay…….from mustbeme at 6:49

Jess just called. She said it is VERY crowded.

The press are there – TV cameras!!!!

Also the life sized posted on auction is from the front of the Schubert – $1,000 opening bid.

He just walked in. He was interviewed out in the hallway before he came in. He looks so good!! Mustbeme at 7:35pm

Part of Terry Boggis’ speech:

I believe she’s talking about the White House Easter egg hunt?
But she talked about the way the children’s faces fell when one woman went on a rant about the same sex families who were there.

She said as much progress as we have, this is what makes her do the work she does.
That she never wants to see that look on a child’s face.

Clay is talking so much, I don’t know how he can eat ……..from mustbeme at 8:55pm

His award should be soon looks like they are saving him for last from mustbeme at9:04pm

Clay is talking to B.D. Wong the actor.

It was just announced that they surpassed the matching donations…more than $100,000 was donated from people in the room in the room.

This was part of the introduction via the OFC:

great privilege and honor to introduce the next honoree…platinum recording artist, NYT best selling artist, touring…

all incredible things…we are honoring him….he was a special education teacher…undying commitment to children…shown time and time again…TBAF and UNICEf….reason for honoring…2008…became a father…and he did the most important thing that any GLBT can do, he told the truth about he was, he showed his son to live a life that is proud and truthful is the only way to live…and for that is why we are honoring him…

Clay’s being introduced!

Really nice applause — and MUCH screaming.

I think he just made a joke about it.

He’s saying he doesn’t really belong there because he doesn’t “do the hard work.” “I’ve only been doing it for 8 1/2 months. The most important work is being done by people in this room who’ve been doing it for years.”

He said he didn’t write anything down.

Equating the gay rights movement with the civil rights movements. Just as white people joined the movement to work alongside blacks for civil rights, heterosexuals are beginning to stand with those fighting for gay rights.
