Clay Aiken – Articulate And At Ease

In this day and age it is obvious that Social Networking is one of the fastest and popular ways to keep up on what is happening around the world.  This is certainly true in the entertainment field.  Facebook and Twitter allow news and opinions to be broadcast to millions in seconds.

On Tuesday, Facebook and Twitter were active with news clips about Clay Aiken and his Joyful Noise Tour.  The following are only a few that were being sent over the internet.

From Facebook:

Sitting in my office looking through the arrangements for the Clay Aiken Joyful Noise Tour. My 22 piece orchestra and Clay at The Avalon Theatre in Easton, Md. December 12. Tickets are still available, and I promise an absolutely glorious orchestra including live horns, live strings, lots of live percussion, live rhythm section. Get it? Live. Many national acts travel today with very scaled down bands augmented by recorded tracks. We’ll be there live folks with the very best musicians from Charlottesville to Rehoboth Beach. My buddy Dave Schiff is putting this group together with me, and we promise nothing but top shelf muscians. Oh yeah, Clay Aiken will be there too:)

It’s fun to see what is out there about Clay!  This is just a pinch of what goes on with twitter.  Do you tweet?

On Tuesday, November 27th, the UNICEF Snowflake lighting ceremony will take place at the intersection of Fifth Avenue and 57th Street in New York City.  Join the fun at 6:30pm and help celebrate children around the world.

The UNICEF Snowflake, donated by the Stonbely family, has become an iconic fixture in New York City during the holiday season. It was handcrafted by German lighting designer Ingo Maurer and is adorned with 16,000 Baccarat crystal prisms. At 23 feet in diameter, over 28 feet in height and weighing 3,300 pounds, the UNICEF Snowflake is the largest outdoor chandelier of its kind. The UNICEF Snowflake will be illuminated for the entire holiday season.

After the lighting of the Snowflake, UNICEF will host the Snowflake Ball, one of New York City’s most notable black-tie galas, to celebrate the lighting of the UNICEF Snowflakes and to honor those whose philanthropic commitments support its mission to save children’s lives. Since its debut in 2005, the annual holiday occasion has raised over $16 Million for UNICEF’s lifesaving programs.

On November 18, 2006, UNICEF Ambassador, Clay Aiken helped light the UNICEF Snowflake in New York.

It was a cold and windy night, but a crowd of about 250 people gathered to mark the beginning of the holiday season. Clay was joined by NBA legend Darryl Dawkins for the lighting of the UNICEF snowflake.

The Brooklyn Youth Chorus entertained that night with holiday carols before Clay Aiken came onto the stage. He was also joined by three young teen – aged girls who were the winners of the UNICEF holiday card contest.

Clay gave an impassioned speech about his experiences with UNICEF and joked with the young people on stage. The crowd was supportive and seemed to enjoy the event.

The videos below show Clay’s speech from that evening. He was articulate and seemed so at ease.
