Clay Aiken – “My Heart Hurts For The Parents”

I am finding it very hard to post right now.  Like most of the world, I am stunned and heartbroken over the tragedy at Newtown, CT.  As the Grandmother of twins who are in kindergarten, I am aching for the parents who have lost their children along with the other families who have lost loved ones.

My daughter-in-law brought the twins over after school today.  I got to hug them, give them a big smoochie kiss and listen to their laughter as they played by the Christmas Tree.  When I think of the twenty families that will never get to do this again, I can’t help but tear up.

One of my friends on Facebook posted this thoughtful quote from Maya Angelou:

Our country is grieving. Each child who has been slaughtered belongs to each of us and each slain adult is a member of our family. It is impossible to explain the horror to ourselves and to our survivors. We need to hold each other’s hands and look into each other’s eyes and say, “I am sorry.”

Please take a moment and listen to Clay Aiken sing two beautiful holiday songs.  For me, it is like sharing a prayer with him.

I will be back in the morning, ready to smile and report all the wonderful news of Clay Aiken.

Please check back!

  1. It was a terrible tragedy today – Maya Angelou said it beautifully! Lots of innocent babes got their
heavenly wings, today! Love and prayers sent to all! The North East has had too much harshness
to deal with the last few months. 🙁

  2. There are no words for this horrible tragedy. All we can do is pray for all those in need of comfort. Those videos are the perfect sentiment. Thanks for a beautiful post.

  3. musicfan, I also have a kindergarten granddaughter and you can bet I hugged and kissed her when she came home from school. It 's so senseless and I can't stop thinking about the 20 sets of parents who are in mourning this morning. Clay was twittering a lot yesterday and I agree with him totally. Thank you for posting these gorgeous video's of Clay singing these songs. I am going to share Maya's beautiful message to everyone…..

  4. Such a terrible, senseless act. My heart goes out to all the families that are in mourning today. It just makes no sense at all. Gaymarie, yes Clay was twittering a lot yesterday, as I think as all parents of little ones felt. Hurt, anger, every emotion you can think of. May God bless everyone affected by this awful act.

Musicfan, thank you for posting those heartfelt videos. All Year Long especially hit home with me. Take care everyone.

  5. There really are no words. Maya's message of "I am sorry" is all that I can say.
I also have three grandchildren who were at school at the time. As a former teacher, I also thought of my own school right down the road and of all the dear children there.
Clay's song, "Grace of God" comes to mind at this time.

  6. i was so sad when i herd the news of those inacent little children who were killed and my condolances go to the familys who have lost there kids out of ths bad horfic event it just doest make any sence

  7. There are just no words to describe what has happened in Newtown, Ct last night. Clay was naturally affected by this..as he has a son who is almost in the age bracket of these children who were so senselessly killed. Clay tweeted last night..and, I agree wholeheartedly with him. May God bless these families.

  8. I am sorry, I know that words are not enaugh, but words are all I have. As a mother of a 5 year old (how is getting a lot of extra hugs and kisses these days) I……….. there is really nothing I can say, my heart is crying.
