Clay Aiken – “One Of The Most Popular Voices In Music Today”

UPDATE WITH VIDEO

Day 15 – Joyful Noise Tour

Arcada Theatre – St. Charles, IL

As we anxiously await the 15th concert of Clay Aiken’s Joyful Noise Tour, let’s check out what the press is saying about Clay and his music.

On Friday, Gary Graff of  Billboard published an interview/article about Clay.  Clay was asked about American Idol and so now the article has been picked up by so many different entertainment sites.  I checked Google searches and I found it listed 25 times.  I will reference the MSN site.  The following are a few interesting points:

Clay Aiken: American Idol is Now All About The Judges

by Gary Graff – Billboard

After a five-year break, Clay Aiken says he was long overdue to bring a Christmas show back on the road…

… After an eventful 2012 — which in addition to “Celebrity Apprentice,” saw the release of his sixth album, “Steadfast,” and a guest appearance on Dee Snider’s “Dee Does Broadway” — Aiken says he’s eyeballing “a few things that are a little more low-key” for 2013 and is holding off most decisions until the Joyful Noise tour wraps Dec. 21 in Anaheim, Calif.

“We’ve got some producers on a TV show concept idea they want me to work on, but I don’t have time to do it right now,” Aiken notes…

…And when I was on, Ruben (Studdard) and myself and Kimberley Locke were the stars of the show. Now ‘Idol’ is about the judges. I don’t even know if they remember there are contestants anymore.”

Be sure and visit the site and read the entire article.  It is well written and interesting.  Click on MSN

A fan of Clay Aiken scanned an article that was in the local Chicago newspaper.  Thank you, Cablegirl!

The following are just a few comments about the concert in St. Charles
1.  The venue is very old and in poor shape.  There were lots of  electrical problems throughout the program.  At one point Clay finally stormed backstage and unplugged the noisy speaker.
2.  Clay started the concert by saying…Welcome to the Fisher-Price Theatre!
3.  The theatre next door had a loud band playing and those close to the wall could hear them loudly.
4.  In spite of the problems, Clay and the musicians performed beautifully and seemed to have a great time.
5.  Clay took a moment to honor the murdered children in CT.  His words were very moving.  He asked for a moment of silence and then sang a heart-wrenching performance of My Grown Up Christmas List.
6.  The members of the orchestra were young, but did a wonderful job.  They seemed to enjoy the performance.
A wonderful Clay fan was able to video Clay’s moving words and his performance of Grown Up Christmas List.  A big thank-you to Thankful4Clay

  1. That video of Clay was oh so beautiful, I had tears in my eyes, so sorry for those children and adults who were massacered and my condolences to the families who must be devastated, God bless them.
Thanks Musicfan for your wonderful posts xox, God bless you too.

  2. Thank you for sharing that emotional video. I hope someone got video of the funny momments too.

  3. On CBS Sunday Morning someone said Conn was invaded by evil on Friday but love has been pouring in from all over the globe ever since.there will always be evil in the world but we must never give up fighting it.

  4. I don't know how Clay got through that song. You can tell he was very emotional. But as always, he comes through with class and that beautiful voice.

  5. Clay was beautiful! The venue not comfortable or nice. We were in the middle and we all could hear the very loud band rocking out next door, especially disturbing during the moment of silence portion.

  6. Leave to Clay to make lemonade from lemons. I'm sure he'll never forget that theater. What a heartfelt tribute–must have been hard for him to get through the song. So wonderful about the toys that were collected.
Hard to believe that the tour is nearly over. It has been wonderful reading all of the interviews and hearing all of the reports from the venues–so many beautiful videos!
Looking forward to whatever is next.
