Clay Aiken – A True Entertainer

February 22, 2007…CLAY DAY!!…………Well, it was Clay Day at The Morning Show with Mike and Juliet.  A new show to the morning line-up, the program was broadcast live from the Fox studios in New York. The show was launched on January 22, 2007 so Clay Aiken was a part of their first month of shows.

Acting as the guest co-host for the entire hour, Clay looked relaxed and spoke as through he had done research on the topics before he appeared on the show.

The show began with a karaoke segment that was filmed the night before the taping. Because Clay was under the weather, he did not sing at the club, however, he did act as a judge and even participated in a short dance with Juliet.

At one point of the program, Clay bundled up in his winter coat and went outside to see the “Claymobile.” Put together by one of Clay’s ardent fans, Clay seemed surprised that there was so much memorabilia on the car. He also participated in a Fact or Fiction quiz.

Some of the topics of the show included a discussion on Anna Nicole Smith and a craft segment to help put care packages together for the military overseas. A guest on the show was an eight year old girl who tried to sing like Jennifer Hudson. Clay also revealed that he would be traveling for UNICEF in April. He did not include where he was going.

According to some members of the live audience, Juliet and Mike seemed thrilled to have Clay there and invited him back to co-host. The producer of the show was overwhelmed by Clay’s visit to the show. There were over 300 requests for tickets and there were only 52 seats in the studio. The show did add some seat outside in a viewing lounge.

This TV appearance of Clay’s was outstanding and showed that Clay was not only a great singer, but a true entertainer. I hope we see him on TV again in this type of show.

I found these videos on YouTube. It’s fun to be able to re-live the show.

Did any of you get to see this in the studio?

Clay did a great job as a co-host.  Why can’t he get the opportunity to do this more often?

  1. I watched on TV – but I got to meet Cookie, the owner of the Clay Car, at the Gala in Raleigh in 2011!
    Such a fun experience!

  2. OH! I forgot to say that Clay's interaction with the little girl was wonderful – he was a lot of fun during
    the whole show!

  3. Wow! This was way before I even knew who Clay was (actually, it was before I even had a tv in my house! lol) I've missed so much but these were a blast to watch…thanks for sharing them. 🙂

  4. What a loveable guy Clay is, just love watching these videos, God bless him. Thanks Musicfan xox.

  5. Clay is always adorable when just being himself. He has such a great sense of humor. I'm looking forward to his radio show. I know we'll be hearing lots of his humor.

  6. Clay was a fantastic guest host. I think this is why his radio pilot will do very well. I hope he gets many more opportunities like this.

  7. I have never seen this before. Thanks for posting it. I don't think our local TV station carried this show. I loved seeing Clay take Juliet's hand and dance with her. Clay is so comfortable and natural when he is being interviewed or acting as a host. Can't wait to see how he'll do "on the radio" Tues.

  8. Did not get inside the studio, was outside on the bleachers. One of the coldest days of my life. It was truly awful. Nicest part was Clay coming out to say hello and shake hands with some of us.
