Clay Aiken – Thank You To Erroll Garner

In 1954 the Erroll Garner Trio introduced an instrumental song titled “Misty.” About a year later, Johnny Burke penned the lyrics, creating the song that is well-known today. “Misty” remained relatively unknown until Johnny Mathis popularized the vocal version with his million-selling recording in 1959.

Although it was never a number one hit, “Misty” has been performed by hundreds of instrumentalists and vocalists.

Misty

Look at me, I’m as helpless as a kitten up a tree,

And I feel like I’m clinging to a cloud, I can’t understand,

I get misty, just holding your hand.

Walk my way, and a thousand violins begin to play,

Or it might be the sound of your hello, that music I hear,

I get misty, the moment you’re near…

Clay Aiken recorded this beautiful song for his Cd, Tried & True.

The following is a performance by Clay at his Tried & True Tour concert in Atlanta, GA on Feb. 16th, 2011.

A big thank-you to Wowzers4Clay for the beautiful video!

  2. I will be honest that I wasn’t crazy about the song Misty. Clay’s version completely changed my mind. His voice is just perfect and really brings the song alive for me. The video is awesome. He sound fantastic and looks very handsome! 🙂

  3. I have always loved this song. But, when Clay sings it…I go to another universe. Beautiful lyrics and oh so romantic. Thank you for a great montage.

  4. I still have Johnny Mathis' "Heavenly" album with the song "Misty". I've always loved it and when Clay recorded it on T&T, my heart just melted. Clay is true to the past, but always updates just the right way to make the songs current.

  5. This is the song I listen to when I'm stuck in traffic on the 101 Freeway in L.A. Hearing Clay's beautiful version just makes the miles melt away.
