Clay Aiken – An Exciting and Scary Day!

Wednesday – a day filled with interesting news about Clay Aiken and…then a bit of a frown!

Lets get the frown taken care of first.  It started with a very interesting(?) tweet from Clay:

THAT was SOME flight! Gotta love that my first instinct was to take a picture of it.

Emergency oxygen bag on Plane

So…what happened?  Clay was flying somewhere?  Is everyone OK?  Were you on that flight to Denver that had to use the emergency slides?  ARE YOU OK?

The chat boards were all busy talking about flights, oxygen, etc. But most of all everyone was concerned that everything was OK.

Lets move on to Very Interesting!

On Wednesday, the following invitation was posted on twitter and Facebook:

Check the name on the left!

It looks like Clay is one of the hosts for this fundraising event in New York City.  It is not surprising as many of the people involved with the making of this movie helped support Clay when he was campaigning for Congress last year…and the movie sounds like a movie Clay would like to support.

The more I read about the movie, the more excited I was to see it.  According to Guto Bittencourt’s Facebook:

Coming from different nations and sharing the same dreams; to compete in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro… Cultural oppression, intolerance and poverty are only a handful of obstacles that stand in the way of our young olympic hopefuls.
Manu, a Saudi student with a desire to play football, lives in an islamic country where women are deemed indecent for participating in sports. She risks freedom and puts her life on the line in pursuit of her passion.
In Russia, Roma embodies the ideal Olympic decathlete, coached by Nicolai, his father, and former Olympic hero. Roma fights to keep a double life hidden from his father and a nation seeped in homophobia.
Manny, a Brazilian wrestler living in the slums of Rio de Janeiro, the host city of the Olympic Games, struggles to get his mother out of poverty by making it to the games. Socioeconomic conditions of favelas threaten to tear him from his family and ultimately destroy his Olympic Dream.
Three lives. Three dreams. The Roads to Olympia.

But, no one will see this movie if these film pros don’t raise some serious money.  They have signed up with Seed & Spark, a company that will help them reach their goals.  According to their website:

At Seed&Spark, we’re challenging you—the audience—to start thinking differently, to start spending your entertainment dollars in ways that directly benefit creators. After all, without creators, we wouldn’t have anything to watch.

On our platform, we give you an opportunity to follow a film from its earliest stages of development. Check out our Studio. It’s full of incubating films you can help hatch. Contribute funds, loan or gift production items, or simply sign up to follow a project as it progresses. You’ll earn Sparks! They’re rewards points you can spend to watch finished films of exceptional quality.

I found their website fascinating. They have a production wish list and how much they need for each category.  They also have a list of the rewards for helping them out. I hope you will visit the site and check it out.  You might even feel like donating to the film…every dollar counts!  You can reach the page at SEED&SPARK

I enjoy reading that Clay is working with the following people:

Donald Dye:  a financial advisor employed by RBC Capital Markets in New York, New York with over 21 years of experience as a financial professional.

Ramazan Nanayev: is a film director, producer, screenwriter, editor and model.  His first short film called “The Red Dream” which was presented at Stanford University and Berkeley California as part of the McNair Scholars Fellowship Program. In the last 3 years Nanayev wrote, produced and directed over a dozen short films.

Guto Bittencourt: is a Brazilian actor and model. Bittencourt first appeared in Brazil soap operas. He got his first role in the Brazilian original cast of a Broadway show called Les Miserables, playing Marius Pontmercy.  He now lives in NYC and performs all over the world.

This is one time when I wish I lived close to NYC.  I would love to meet these talented and creative people and support them in their project…California to New York???  Sorry…just can’t happen.

So…no pictures of Clay today?  Ok…what will Clay wear on Sunday?

#1 Maybe

#2 The formal look -very nice!

#3 Nice all around!

#4 Does Clay still have this suit?

#5 – Uh…no, just no!!!

So…Clay was on a wild-ride, is supporting his friends and their project and wears clothes with a flair!

What number do you choose?

  1. One would think if there was another flight with serious issues that would have made the news as well. Glad that everyone got off that flight to Denver no matter if Clay was on it or not. Proud of Clay because he steps up and helps with such worthwhile projects. I think in that setting I would choose #2 outfit. Definitely not #5 ever. For anything! lol

  2. Either #2 or #4… He looks so dashing and debonair on both suits. I do wish he still has the suit on #4. But he looks so "adorkable" on #5 🙂 I love all the pictures though…

    Thanks CANN!!!

  3. Frightening situation for Clay and the others of that flight. Seems like they handled the situation calmly. Movie seems to be the one to watch and hope it gets to theaters everywhere. Great pictures of Clay and I love the one with him and Mary in the onepiece, They look like they are having fun.

Thanks for keeping us informed, musicfan

  4. I gotta be honest… when I saw first saw the oxygen mask, my first instinct was "CLAY! Are you drinking alcohol?!!!!" Then when I looked closer I saw what it was & my anxiety kind of went up & I started thinking to myself… "OMG! Are you OK?!" Momma instinct kind of kicked in for a moment. The program that he's helping host on Sunday sounds EXTREMELY interesting & I hope that they raise LOTS of $ for a good cause. And finally, as far as outfits are concerned, I'd go for #2. He looks GOOD in a suit & tie. Agreed that #5 is a big NO!!!!! Thanks as always for sharing, Musicfan123!!!

  5. I can fully comprehend why Clay would be one of the hosts for this endeavor. It is right down his alley: seeking to uplift the underdog and freeing individuals from prejudice, affliction, dictatorship, and oppression. The idea of creating films that demonstrate how these odds can be overcome is absolutely brilliant! Kudos to these producers! Our world is in dire need of this brand of thinking out of the box, and I look forward to the possibility Clay will give us more insight into this project through another blog once the fundraiser has taken place.

Thank goodness Clay’s flight culminated in a safe journey for everyone! Regarding Clay’s attire for the event, I cannot even venture a guess. Being surrounded by so much imagination and inspiration, we could be in for some enlightenment! And I can’t resist speculating if Clay might appear in one of these future films!

  7. After reading through SEED&SPARK and watching the promotional video, I am deeply impressed with the authenticity and honesty of this undertaking. Is it possible to include updates on the total donations from time to time via the Clay Aiken News Network as a reminder of their progress? I am willing to support this innovative and worthy cause backed by Clay's approval.
