In 1987, the rock band U2 released an album titled The Joshua Tree. The opening track from this album is Where The Streets Have No Name.
Bono, the lead vocalist of U2, wrote the lyrics of WTSHNN. The guitarist, The Edge, wrote the music that is famous for the repeating guitar arpeggios (open chords).
Where the Streets Have No Name was highly praised by critics and became a commercial success. It peaked at number thirteen on the US charts. The song is considered one of the band’s most popular songs.
The Joshua Tree Tour debuted in April of 1987 and Where The Streets Have No Name was the immediate favorite for the fans. Because of its popularity the song has been played at nearly every full-length concert that U2 has headlined.
In the summer of 2004, Clay Aiken performed his Solo – Not-A-Tour for about 3 ½ months. Clay chose to open each concert with a spectacular performance of Where The Streets Have No Name…as he emerged from “the Mother Ship.”

Just a quick reminder…today (Saturday, Aug. 15), Clay is supposed to be in Philadelphia again, helping American Idol with their auditions.

I'm going to do a little whining here because even tho I have been here from the beginning at "take" I did not go to those early tours. I couldn't find anybody to go with and I thought they were out of my price range! Silly me, but I made up for it later! LOL! Thanks for the memories and I'll be checking back in case there is news about his Idol appearance!
Down memory lane of OMC! During the year of 2004, I had a personal loss and my children and I were trying to get our world back together. Clay was inspiring and helpful with my grief personally with his beautiful voice and his words! I have been with him since, watched every show he was on and listened to his cds!

I remember sitting at the York, Pa. concert with my heart pounding as the music started, excitedly waiting for those flickering stairs to lift and to get the first glimpse of Clay as he started his ascent onto the stage!!! Oh, how I wish those days were still with us!! I sure miss touring Clay!!

Loved the "Not a Tour"…lol I think I made it to 2 concerts for that tour. LOVED IT!!!!!!! Each tour was unique, and so much fun. Nice to re-live that again…Thanks Musicfan.

We were so excited at this first solo concert for Clay. I hardly remember the details because it was so overwhelming just to see Clay up close for the first time. I do have some photos that my friend took at the Ohio State Fair's concert venue. It was a sold out show.
