Clay Aiken – PBS and OMG

It’s Thursday and Clay Aiken will be busy being the host of the Politicon Podcast, “How The Heck Are We Gonna Get Along”.  The following picture was taken at the live event.  Remember, you can hear this podcast on iTunes and many other Podcast sites.

Do you remember what you were doing on March 12, 2010?  For many Clay Aiken fans, this date will bring back memories of the taping of the PBS special at the Raleigh Memorial Auditorium.  The concert, lovingly called the “OMG” Concert was the beginning of a year of wonderful live music, a new CD and DVD and many PBS specials on TV.

The concert was polished, professional and classy.  Clay’s voice was phenomenal on the fresh arrangements of the timeless classics.

Clay opened the show with a rousing rendition of Mack The Knife and closed the show with a poignant version of Moon River. Each song chosen for the program allowed Clay to showcase his wonderful voice.  It is amazing how his voice soared on the variety of songs.  Each one highlighted his versatility and range.

I still find it impossible to describe Unchained Melody on this night. It started out slowly and emotional but then…as SueReu said:

...it likened to a 747 taking off or thunder that started in Clay’s toes and traveled through his body.

I feel lucky that I was able to be in the audience that night.  It is one of my favorite “Clay” moments!

I hope you enjoy these videos.

The first one has talking Clay, singing Clay, and pictures of Clay!!

OMG

I wish Clay could perform another concert like this.  It was very special!

  1. Thank you for the pictures and the videos. I wish I was there that night. I love that song. What can you say about that voice, but WOW. I will be listening to the podcast, just like I did last week. Thank you again.

  2. It was worth the long drive to get to Raleigh to be present at Clay's PBS concert that March. What an exciting evening it was to watch the taping of the show. Clay was in terrific voice and the audience went wild! The only thing I would have changed was that shiny black suit Clay wore. Never did like it.

  3. What a fantastic voice I can sit here all day and listen to it over and over again Thanks so much for sharing this
