Do you remember when Clay Aiken was on the Top 8 show of American Idol in Season 2? The theme for the night was Billboard #1 Hits. Lionel Richie was the guest judge. Clay sang At This Moment by Billy Vera and the Beaters. In a surprising turn of events, Simon complimented Clay by saying:
That song was perfect for you. Absolutely on the money…Well Done!!
Yes…it was an excellent performance.

One of my favorite songs from way back and Clay did it justice! Simon was a good guy this time. I definitely remember this and was getting more and more excited for Clay each week. Going to have to watch Idol this new season – Clay is mentoring one week and he and Ruben will be on the finale show. He made note of this in his message to us on the CB and CVS a few days ago! Loving it!

How many years ago was this? I do remember watching Clay perform this song and was so happy that Simon was a very positive vote for him. I thought Clay did a good rendition of the song.
