On Tuesday, April 8th, Clay Aiken traveled to the city of Charlotte to attend a Reception / Fund Raiser at the home of Ambassador Mark Erwin and Mrs. Joan Erwin. The reception started at 5:30pm and was full of people who were interested in learning more about Clay and his qualifications for the position of U.S. Representative. The event ran from 5:30 to 7:30pm.
Ambassador and Mrs. Erwin have a beautiful home in Charlotte. They served some light hors d’oeuvres and had a small bar for drinks.
According to those in attendance, Clay made a point of meeting and chatting with each person. Sometimes it was within a group and sometimes just to one person directly. He made sure to take “selfies” with the guests if they requested it.
At about the halfway mark, people sat down to hear a few short talks. Ambassador Erwin formally greeted the attendees and put in a few words of support for Clay. When Clay spoke, he talked about his background. He reminded the guests that he had taught Special Ed, had gone to UNCC, and even spoke about the National Inclusion Project and how it started. He also mentioned his work with UNICEF and talked about some of his travels for the organization.
As Clay was leaving the event, he was able to thank many of the attendees personally for being there…and, of course, there were a few more “selfies.” According to people who were in attendance, his resume and background were a surprise to many of the people and they were impressed and excited to learn more about Clay.
As an official fundraising event for Clay’s run for Congress, I hope the guests were very impressed and will find a way to support Clay!
A big thank you to Ambassador Mark Erwin and Mrs Joan Erwin for opening their home for this important event. Also, thanks to all the people who attended the event for their support and interest in Clay Aiken. Your support is very important.
