Monday night was the annual “Back to the DAP” game for the Durham Bulls, who hosted the Indianapolis Indians at historic Durham Athletic Park in the opener of a four game set.

It’s the second straight season the Bulls have played in the remodeled park, which was their home from 1938-1994. It is the park where the iconic baseball film “Bull Durham” was shot.

Both teams wore vintage uniforms from the 1960s, and there were plenty of pre-game festivities. Former Durham skipper Bill Evers threw the ceremonial first pitch to current manager Charlie Montoyo.

Mike Potter of the INDY WEEK.COM wrote about the festivities and the game.  He wrote:

Local hero and International pop sensation Clay Aiken performed the National Anthem, and there was a flyover of vintage airplanes before we get down to business before an SRO crowd of 2,638.

Clay Aiken fans were excited to see and hear Clay who has been on a well-deserved break from his busy entertainment career.  Besides a live Cell-cert, the fans were able to see many pictures and even a video of Clay singing the Star Spangled Banner.
