Clay Aiken – Ready To WOW The World

The last week of September, 2011…it just might go down as one of the most joyous times for fans of Clay Aiken.  After months of quiet, Clay has re-emerged, sounding rested, excited and ready to WOW the world!

After a blog with lots of information on Monday, it was announced on Wednesday that Clay would be hosting his second live video chat.  The event is scheduled for Friday, October 7, at 8:30pm EST and is for Official Fan Club members only.

So…start collecting your questions for Clay.  You can submit them ahead of time in the Campaigns section of the OFC.  If you cannot make the chat this time, it will be recorded and posted so it can be seen at a later date.  For more information about the video chat, please visit the OFC for the details.

On Wednesday, Digital Music News reported about the Scion Music (less) Music Conference that is taking place in Los Angeles right now.

The topic I found very interesting was titled:

 How Artists Deal With All the Hate…

 To have a discussion about the topic of hate must mean that it is a concern for many musicians.  The following are some of the points reported on DMN:

  • The Internet is full of hate.
  • Technology has totally amplified the level of hate being directed at the artist and their work.
  • If you grow large enough, you will get lots of hate.
  • The haters are the most vocal, and tend to drown out those that truly appreciate the performer.
  • People only have the courage to do it on the Internet and it’s coming from people who are on the Internet 17 hours a day.
  • There’s definitely a lot of hate on Twitter.
  • Hate does play in the development of artists – and it tests a performers creative resolve.
  • There should be some honesty in the form of feedback.  It can be immensely valuable…if the artist can take it.

Artist who put their heart and soul into their music should not have to read so much hatred.  I am always appalled when I read some of the comments written about so many celebrities.  I just don’t understand.  To me it is just anonymous bullying.  I can’t imagine how difficult it must be to read even one hateful post.

Clay Aiken – It Still Hurts My Feelings!

A few years ago,  Clay Aiken was gracious enough to answer questions from his fans on his Official Fan club.  One serious question stood out and Clays  answer was amazing.

This was the question:

I’ve gotten bullied my whole life even at times as an adult. I try to ignore people such as co workers and such but it’s not easy at all. How were you able to develop such a thick skin? Any advice?

And Clay’s wonderful answer:

As unbelievably hard as it is to do, I just learned to ignore.  I don’t think that the term “thick-skin” really applies to me.

If I pay attention to negativity, it still hurts my feelings.  I don’t think anyone is impervious to that type of pain.  Therefore, I found the best way to deal with it is to ignore it.

There has NEVER been a case that I have EVER seen where bullying is not a DIRECT result of the insecurities of the bully themselves.

People who are happy with themselves don’t have any reason to spend their time cutting down other people.  In almost EVERY situation, I have found that when someone is mean to someone else because of a trait they don’t care for it is because they have insecurities about themselves and want to make others feel bad for the rush of superiority it gives them.  When  you let that person affect your attitude in anyway, it gives them dominion over you…which is exactly what they want.

Ignoring is hard…REALLY hard, but one of three things will happen as a result of ignoring those who are nasty to you.

  1. They will see that they no longer affect you and they will stop.
  2. Others will see that they no longer affects you, and they will stop encouraging the bullying…or…and most powerfully…
  3. You’re ignoring will allow you to spend your time focusing on things that make you happy and make you feel good about yourself, and you honestly won’t even notice the haters anymore.

Trust me…it works!!

The title of this article should be all that needs to be said.  It’s a good reminder to every fan that when you write something negative on a public webpage it has the potential to hurt feelings.  My philosophy  is “never write something on the web that you wouldn’t say to a person  face to face!”

Clay Aiken – Meeting, Greeting, Trending, and More!

Friday…….another day of Clay Aiken in the news.  His name was everywhere.

Clay Aiken and his fans woke up on Friday morning to find out that Clay was on the TRENDING NOW LIST at Yahoo. The TRENDING NOW LIST  names the top searches that are on the web.  Of course the list is very fluid and changes within minutes.  However, the  name, Clay Aiken,  was listed in the #1 position for part of the morning and bounced around on the list for many hours.  It’s always glad to see that many people are still excited about Clay Aiken.

 

Members of the Clay Aiken Official Fan Club received an e-mail on Friday morning.  The e-mail announced the opportunity for Fan Club members to win a Meet & Greet with Clay while he is on the Tried and True Tour. The contest runs from Monday, January 24th at 10:00am PT through Thursday, January 27th at 11:55pm PT.

According to the e-mail, five winners will be chosen for each tour date.  The winners will be chosen through a random drawing and no one can win more than one Meet & Greet for this tour.

If you want another chance to meet Clay, you can sign up for a contest at Sound Spike, a site that covers daily news, music and has occasional contests.   According to their web-page, they will have three winners:

Gloria Dietz is a part-time writer for the Examiner.com – Baltimore.  She interviewed Clay Aiken and published an article about the interview.  She also put the audio of the interview on-line.  In the casual interview, Clay chatted about many topics, including some information about the Tried And True Tour that will be in Maryland on February 22nd.  You can read the article and hear the tape of the interview at Examiner.com

Take a moment to watch this amazing video of Clay singing Unchained Melody.  This wonderful video really shows the strong, beautiful voice that Clay has shared with us.  And, kudos to Ben Cohn for the amazing arrangement.  I would bet we hear a lot about Ben in the future.

Clay Aiken – Always Good To Know!

Monday, September 27th was a day that revealed many small bits of information for Clay Aiken fans.  There was no scoop, but lots of news that is good to know!

Billboard Chart Beat posted the total U.S. Album Sales for the top American Idol artists.  This is for sales through 9/24/10.

That’s a lot of albums sold.  Congratulations to all the top sellers.

KETC is the PBS station in St. Louis.  According to their website, the station:

engages and entertains the community with a diversity of ideas, issues, discourse and experiences that inform our present, guide our future and illuminate a wider world.

On Monday, Gloria Whitmore at KETC announced that Tried & True: Live!  will be broadcast on October 20th,  at 9:00pm.  The station had not committed to the show before and now feels it will be a match for its patrons.  I believe that KETC is the 112th station that has Tried and True in their line-up.


The Clay Aiken Official Fan Club announced the pre-sale for the Houston, TX concert will begin on October 4th at 10am PDT.

The Tried & True concert will be held at Jones Hall.  Jones Hall is a monument to the memory of Jesse Holman Jones, a towering figure in Houston during the first half of the 20th century.  Before his death in 1956, it was Jones’ expressed wish to see that Houston had a new opera house. Jones Hall would become his lasting gift to the City.

Today, Jones Hall is home to the Houston Symphony and the Society for the Performing Arts. More than 400,000 visitors attend some 250 events annually.

Houston is one of the last cities where pre-sale tickets are offered.  So far, the tickets for the pre-sale at other venues have been great and have sold quickly.  Remember, you have to be a member of Clay’s Official Fan Club to participate in this sale.  GOOD LUCK!!

We can always count on wonderful graphics from Fountaindawg.  On Monday, she posted four great pictures.  She paired pictures from the Timeless Tour with screen caps from American Idol, Season 2.  What fun to see that “Clay is Clay” and he has moved from cute to handsome.  Thank you, Fountaindawg, for these gems!!

Clay Aiken – The Official Fan Club

It was good to see some exciting movement happening at Clay Aiken’s Official Fan Club on Tuesday.  Since the OFC moved its location, many fans have been a bit lost over there and it has been very quiet on the site.

On Tuesday, the fans were treated to a blog from Clay Aiken.  Clay didn’t have any breaking news to share, he just blogged to keep in touch with his fans.  Clay calls it a “stream of consciousness” blog.  To most of Clay’s fans, the content of the blog is not so important.  It’s always fun to read a blog from Clay. Whatever Clay says isn’t as important as realizing that he is thinking of us…and that feels really good!!

In the news section of the OFC came the announcement of an exciting concert by Clay in Chicago.  Although many fans already knew about this concert, it was nice to read some details of the concert.

The Park West in Chicago is the venue for the October 14th concert.  The Park West is a popular concert venue and nightclub located at 322 West Armitage in Lincoln Park. It originally opened in 1925 as the Park Lane Vaudeville Theater, and then it was a movie theater for several decades until it was renovated into the Park West in the 1970′s.  It’s a great place to see a show because of its intimate setting, tiered seating, and clubby atmosphere. There’s arguably not a bad seat in the house.

According to the announcement at the OFC, Clay will sing his chart topping hits as well as songs from Tried and True. It’s a good chance to hear Clay in an intimate setting and support WTTW, the Chicago public television station.  It’s a win-win event and all in one night!

While we are speaking of Clay’s Official Fan Club, I want to take a moment to commend Clayitagain, a longtime fan of Clay.  She was concerned about the lack of posting at the Fan Club so she started a new place to post and went around to many of the private Clay boards to encourage the members to come and chat at the OFC.  Because of her tenacity, the thread is active and fans have returned to the site.  Thank-you, Clayitagain.

Just one more reminder to keep voting for The National Inclusion Project at the Pepsi Challenge site.  We are about halfway through the month and so many fans are voting each day and even forming partnerships with other fan bases to support each other.  This is the only way that The National Inclusion Project has a chance to win.  The following is a list of sites that need votes.   The few minutes that this voting takes are so important.  Just think… you are helping the National Inclusion Project raise $50,000.

Clay Aiken – An Amazing Day !

Tuesday, February 16, 2010………….What an amazing day for Clay Aiken fans.

It started early in the day…

  • check and update your Ticketmaster account
  • run off copy of seating chart
  • find credit card and have it handy, just in case
  • check in at the OFC
  • fire up extra computer, just in case
  • clean glasses
  • pour a cup of coffee
  • check in at the OFC
  • visit the “Bathroom”
  • remind family members to LEAVE THE ROOM
  • check in at the OFC
  • say a short prayer to the “Ticket Gods”

Finally, the time comes……..

  • What do you mean, no tickets match my request…..again and again and again
  • What do mean, the best seats available are in the last row of the balcony?
  • Things I forget to get………tissues to wipe brow…muzzle so neighbors can’t here inappropriate words
  • No tickets match my request……..except balcony, in the corner!!
  • Finally, some OK tickets…….must compromise and purchase these!
  • Get aspirin and a bottle of wine
  • Feel better when you realize your Canadian friends are really in trouble

Does that sound anything like your day??

Yet, it was a wonderful day.  Clay was on-line for hours, trying to solve our problems and answering our questions.  We learned that Brian, a part of “Team Clay” worked above and beyond to help with all the glitches.

But the best part of the day was realizing that even if our seats aren’t the very best, we will be seeing and hearing an extraordinary concert on March 12th.  To a Clay Aiken fan, there is nothing better than seeing Clay live, in concert.

The relationship between Clay Aiken and his fans is very special.  There is no doubt that he cares very much about his fans and their wants and needs.  He lets us get away with so much.  I know of no other artist that allows and encourages “Clack” at concerts and doesn’t mind that half the audience in engaged in a cellcert.  I just hope that every one of us will understand when he asks us to abide by the rules for this concert.

The concert and TV special is about Clay Aiken.  It is not about Clay Aiken’s enthusiastic fans.  So, when he asks us to put all phones away, leave our cameras and videos cameras at home and not to wear clothing that is fan-centric, we need to be extra careful to follow his requests.  If he doesn’t want binoculars in the first 6 rows, we don’t get to argue with him and suggest that it’s not fair because you can’t see.  I feel for anyone who has visual problems, however, you will be there in person, you get to hear Clay sing and when you want to see the freckles on his face, watch it on TV.  This is Clay’s night.  We need to do everything we can to support him and make him even more proud of his fans.

I loved going to E-bay and seeing the auction for the VIP package.  These tickets will bring much-needed money to The National Inclusion Project.  Unfortunately, I didn’t win the lottery so I will have to miss out.  However, as an orchestral musician, sitting through the dress rehearsal would be a dream come true.

So far, fans are coming to the concert from 25 states, three Canadian provinces and from Asia.  Isn’t that amazing?

The past couple of weeks have been so much fun. And we have so much more to look forward to!  Is it March 12th yet?

What were you doing on April 24th, 2009??  If you were like many of Clay Aiken fans, you were following Clay as he answered fan questions at his Official Fan Club…….FOR 7 HOURS!!

And, as if that wasn’t enough, Clay gave us all a gift.  I don’t know about you, but I immediately downloaded the new song and sent a small donation to the TBAF.

Clay really appreciates his fans and always tries to do what he can to show it.   Thank you, Clay for sharing so much with us!!

The talented SueReu made a wonderful video about Clay, using Clay’s gift to us….the song, Just You.  I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
