Are you a fan of basketball? Are you a fan of Clay Aiken? If you say yes to either of these questions and you live close to Raleigh, North Carolina, you are in luck.
Tonight, there is a special charity basketball game for the Richard J. Murphy Memorial Scholarship. The game will be played at the Leesville Road High School gymnasium on Thursday, June 14 at 6:30 p.m…AND…Clay Aiken will be singing the National Anthem before the game.
So…get yourself to Leesville Road High School and enjoy a great game of basketball. And hearing Clay sing the Star Spangled Banner…well, no one sings it better than Clay!
Be sure and check back after 6:30pm. Hopefully there will be some pictures and mentions about Clay’s appearance…As soon as we have anything, we will post it right here!
People across the United States celebrate Flag Day on June 14 each year to honor the United States flag and to commemorate the flag’s adoption. Also known as the “Stars and Stripes” or “Old Glory,” the first American flag was approved by the Continental Congress on June 14, 1777. In 1818, after 5 more states joined the Union, Congress passed legislation fixing the number of stripes at 13 and requiring that the number of stars equal the number of states.
Many people in the United States honor this day by displaying the American flag at homes and public buildings. Other popular ways of observing this holiday include: flag-raising ceremonies; Flag Day services; school quizzes and essay competitions about the American flag; musical salutes; street parades; and awards for special recognition.

Betsy Ross was a seamstress who made clothes for George Washington. In June, 1776, Washington approached her to make the country’s first flag and the rest is history.
Francis Scott Key Inspired by the British bombardment of Fort McHenry, Francis Scott Key penned the lyrics to our national anthem as he witnessed the event as British rockets whizzed in the air while our American Flag flew in the breeze.
