In these tough economic times, it is a real challenge to find ways to support our favorite charities. But, there are ways that we can do this. We have been answering such challenges as the Citgo Facebook Challenge and the Christie Cookie Giveaway. Both of which just required a bit of our time to participate.

Another way we can help support the National Inclusion Project is GoodSearch. Periodically we write about GoodSearch and give updates on funds raised so far. We also have one of their badges in the sidebar for your convenience. Here is a chart showing how much has been raised by your efforts so far this year and how much has been raised in the nearly three years that we have been participating.

GoodSearch has a number of tools to help us remember to use them for all our internet searching and shopping. For those who use Internet Explorer or Firefox, you can download and install the GoodSearch Toolbar. It includes a search box and also when you’re on the website of one of the 1,300+ participating merchants, the toolbar will light up. It will show what percentage of your purchase will be donated and display any special coupons offered – all at no extra cost to you.

If you have a webpage or blog, you can install your own badge or banner for GoodSearch like the one in our sidebar or like this:

Use GoodSearch and GoodShop and let’s see if we can’t increase how much is donated through this unique service!

The following chart shows the amount raised for the Bubel/Aiken Foundation in January and February. We need to work hard and invite out family and friends to join us in using this wonderful tool for raising money for The Bubel/Aiken Foundation.

Let’s Double GoodSearch

GoodSearch is a search engine which donates 50-percent of its revenue to the charities and schools designated by its users. It’s a simple and compelling concept. You use GoodSearch exactly as you would any other search engine. Because it’s powered by Yahoo!, you get proven search results. The money GoodSearch donates to your cause comes from its advertisers – the users and the organizations do not spend a dime!

In 2007, GoodSearch was expanded to include GoodShop, an online shopping mall of world-class merchants dedicated to helping fund worthy causes across the country. Each purchase made via the GoodShop mall results in a donation to the user’s designated charity or school.

The goal of GoodSearch is to help as many nonprofits and schools as possible. They want to help fund the great works the nonprofits are doing. And, as important as the money, GoodSearch allows people to feel connected to organizations helping to make the world a better place and support them every single day. They believe that “doing good” should be a part of people’s everyday lives.

The Bubel/Aiken Foundation has been a part of GoodSearch for a few years. It is an easy way for all of us to help raise some needed funds for  Clay Aiken’s dream.  The next time you are looking for a new book, computer, DVD, pair of shoes or clothing, go to GoodShop.  It’s simple.  No username or password is required.  Just designate the Bubel/Aiken Foundation as your favorite charity, click on the store’s logo from the GoodShop site and then shop as you normally would. Do you use GoodSeach? If you haven’t yet, why not give it a try.

The following is the totals for the month of January for the Bubel/Aiken Foundation. With  all the many people that support Clay and his foundation, we should be able to double this amount during February.  Lets give it a try and see if we can make a difference.

Quote of the Day

It is not always about performance art, but about receiving positive energy from people with positive spirits. Sometimes we can see someone's spirit, and those are the people with great energy. Those are the people that get me through the day, especially on Broadway. -Clay Aiken
