It was opening night for After Midnight at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre. According to their website:
AFTER MIDNIGHT is Broadway’s exhilarating new musical celebrating the glamour and exuberance of Harlem’s Golden Age, starring Grammy® Award winner Fantasia (The Color Purple) in her highly anticipated return to the stage. This heart-pounding new show also features Emmy® Award nominee Dulé Hill (“The West Wing”) and an internationally renowned cast of 25 extraordinary dancers and singers.
Featuring breathtaking, one-of-a-kind costumes by award-winning fashion designer Isabel Toledo and direction and choreography by Warren Carlyle, AFTER MIDNIGHT packs the theatre with more raw talent per square inch than any other show in town. It’s simply UNMISSABLE!
So far, the reviews coming in are excellent. Variety’s Marilyn Stasio says:
Snazzy Broadway revue, gorgeously designed and packed with talent, is great (if somewhat sanitized) entertainment.
Variety did not have the only positive review. Clay shared his excitement of the night by tweeting twice:
Go see @AfterMidnightNY !! Thanks to @TasiasWord and @DuleHill its one of the MOST fun nights I’ve had on Broadway EVER!! Just incredible!
