Clay Aiken – Hollywoodland

By musicfan123 · Comments 13987(4)http%3A%2F%2Fclaynewsnetwork.com%2F2012%2F01%2F08%2Fclay-aiken-hollywoodland%2FClay+Aiken+-+Hollywoodland2012-01-08+16%3A55%3A59musicfan123http%3A%2F%2Fclaynewsnetwork.com%2F%3Fp%3D13987

It is always fun to read positive articles, especially if they are about Clay Aiken.

Tommy Lightfoot Garrett writes an Internet blog titled Highlight Hollywood.  Each week he pens an article called This Week In Hollywoodland.

On January 5th, Garrett reported on the new contestants on Celebrity Apprentice.  The original report was accurate and he used the CD cover from ON My Way Here.  He must have gotten some great feedback from this article because on January 8th, Garrett wrote another article about Clay and his supportive fans.  He said:

This week in Hollywoodland, it’s all about the music, acting and entertainment. Or is it? Jack Wagner is about to serenade a “B&B” leading lady, musical icon and “American Idol” great Clay Aiken’s fans are very supportive of his bid for the top spot on NBC’s “Celebrity Apprentice” starring Donald Trump and lets not forget that there is a lot more news in Hollywood, and our favorite shows and even some film productions have restarted for the New Year. Plus, here’s all the gossip this week that made Hollywood buzz and fans around the world seemed captivated by; including actor and singer Justin Timberlake popping the question….

…When Highlight Hollywood reported last week that handsome and talented singer Clay Aiken would be on Donald Trumps “Celebrity Apprentice” which airs on NBC, we had no idea there would be such a magnificent reaction. When you work in the media, you sometimes hit raw nerves and end up being attacked by people who feel as if you are being unfair (which Highlight Hollywood) strives never to do, or that you are not giving enough attention to a certain celebrity or TV show or film. We try to focus on everyone, who has something positive going on in their lives, and we also hit hard news. We may be a bit more tough in our reportage on politics, but there’s a simple reason for that. Politicians control our futures to some extent, and they are all paid by taxpayers. So, there is no need to allow them to use the media for propaganda, as they tend to do on Fox News and MSNBC. But it is very rare that a celebrity has such a huge following, and yet their fans are so genuinely gracious, kind and supportive, generous in spirit and all around awesome! Clay Aiken has such fans.

His fans embraced his decision to appear on “Celebrity Apprentice” and they all believe as we do, that he’ll be the winner of the competition. Donald Trump is a great showman, even though sometimes his show is a bit overdone when he panders to people who have ill will against others, and it’s a shame he uses The White House as a way to garner attention and get ratings, when we face so many serious issues. But it’s great when he picks someone as charismatic, talented and genuinely kind as Clay Aiken to appear as a contestant on his highly-rated series “Celebrity Apprentice,” which thanks to Clay’s wonderful fans will be even higher rated than any previous season. Thanks Aiken fans for showing Highlight Hollywood and the world, that you back the right guy, and that you all have as much class he Clay does! You do him proud!

Please visit ThisWeekInHollywood to read the entire article.  I do hope you will leave a nice comment.  That is a great way of thanking Garrett for the nice words.

A BIG Thank you to all of you who participated in the Song Poll this week.  It was fun to see some names I didn’t recognize.  I hope you will comment again!!

I found the results of the poll to be very interesting.  Of course, this is just a small group of fans that voted, but it still showed a trend.  So…here we go!!

Measure of A Man

Every song from this album received votes.  This Is The Night received the least votes.

10 points – The Way

8 points – Measure of A Man

6 points – Touch

Merry Christmas With Love

Four songs received no votes

18 points – Mary, Did You Know

13 points – Don’t Save It All For Christmas Day

8 points – O Holy Night

A Thousand Different Ways

This was very close…there didn’t seem to be a huge favorite from this album.

7 points – Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word

6 points – A Thousand Days

5 points – Because You Loved Me

5 points – Here You Come Again

5 points – Broken Wings

On My Way Here

The only song without any vote was Weight of The World.

9 points – Something About Us

8 points – Everything I Don’t Need

4 points – Ashes, As Long As We’re Here, Sacrificial Love

Tried & True

Every song received at least one point…but this wasn’t even close!!

24 points – Unchained Melody

7 points – Suspicious Minds

5 points – It’s Impossible

There were lots of comments that mentioned All Is Well and wanted to vote for it.  Also, Lover All Alone received votes for two albums…if you put them together; people seem to really enjoy it!!

Are the results surprising to you?  Did any of your favorites win??

Thanks again for participating.  I think this was fun!!

A quick apology for the Wednesday Blog.   I need to proof-read a little better.  I did know that August 24th was not Clay’s birthday…I just didn’t write it clearly.  I did change it when I checked in the morning!!

While Clay is out “spelunking”, we need to try a few things… so…

Lets take an un-official poll of our favorite Clay Aiken songs…

May I just say how much I appreciate your support of CANN.  If there is some topic you would like me to research and write about, please let me know.  This has been a long break and like most of you, I can’t wait to report some exciting news “soon”.

Clay Aiken – Summer Memories!

By musicfan123 · Comments 11484(16)http%3A%2F%2Fclaynewsnetwork.com%2F2011%2F08%2F16%2Fclay-aiken-summer-memories%2FClay+Aiken+-+Summer+Memories%212011-08-16+07%3A25%3A15musicfan123http%3A%2F%2Fclaynewsnetwork.com%2F%3Fp%3D11484

It’s the Dog Days of Summer…it’s hot…it’s muggy…and the kids are getting restless.  For those of us in California, the kids are returning to school…it’s that time!

Some years ago I thought summer was:  sprinklers, Popsicles, bug bites, bare feet and lots of laughter.  But my remembrances of summer changed drastically during the summer of 2004.  Now my summer memories include concert tours and television concert series.  Oh…what fun memories!

Clay Aiken was a musical guest for three years on the Summer Concert Series sponsored by Good Morning America.

On July 2nd, 2004, GMA held their concert series in Bryant Park. There were over 3,000 people in the audience and it was reported to be the largest audience ever for a GMA concert.  Clay sang Invisible, I Will Carry You and I Survived You.

The next summer, Clay was again on the Summer Concert Series.  He was back at Bryant Park on July 29th, 2005.  The concert was the morning after opening night of the Jukebox Tour. Clay sang Invisible, Suspicious Minds, and Back For More. According to those in attendance, Clay sang Twisting The Night Away in the warm-up. There was another large audience and Clay seemed to enjoy joking with the excited audience members.

The third time Clay was on the GMA Summer Concert Series was on May 7th, 2008.  This time the concert was held in-studio. The studio was packed with fans. Clay had a short interview with Diane Sawyer but she had a bad case of laryngitis so Robin Roberts had to step in. Clay sang On My Way Here and Ashes.  It’s too bad that Ashes was not broadcast but only put on the ABC website.

Which one of these concerts was your favorite?  Did you get to attend one of these concerts in person?  I love these summer memories!!

Clay Aiken – That Special Song!

By musicfan123 · Comments 10269(6)http%3A%2F%2Fclaynewsnetwork.com%2F2011%2F04%2F09%2Fclay-aiken-that-special-song%2FClay+Aiken+-+That+Special+Song%212011-04-09+08%3A05%3A17musicfan123http%3A%2F%2Fwww.claynewsnetwork.com%2F%3Fp%3D10269

Sometimes a certain song just gets to you.  Maybe it’s the melody that plays over and over in your mind.  Other times it’s the arrangement, listening for the brass, the beat of the drums and the way the arranger weaves the strings to produce a certain emotion.  To many the lyrics of the song are the most important.  When the song conveys a story, it is hard to forget.

Clay Aiken sings one of my “gets you” songs.  It has the most plays on my I-Tunes list and it always seems to make me feel good. I love the beautiful melody, the lush arrangement and the lyrics convey such love that you can’t help but feel good. From Clay’s album, On My Way Here, the song is titled Something About Us.

Three outstanding composers wrote Something About Us.  Michael O’Brien, Scotty Wilbanks and Regie Hamm are all award winning musicians who are first known for their singing and then known as amazing song writers.

Michael O’Brien is probably most known from his 7-year tenure as lead singer of the Christian band Newsong. But, he has actually been in the music ministry for some 20 years now and has built a reputation as an incredibly gifted singer and songwriter.  He put together a CD filled with 14 original love songs.  Michael said about the CD:

“Our goal was to create a work that would give couples an opportunity to have romantic interludes in a style reminiscent of Nat King Cole. It’s like Song of Solomon set to music. Romantic! Poetic! I believe Christians should be writing the most beautiful love songs ever.”

Regie Hamm has won many Dove awards for his music.  He has had many #1 hits on Christian radio.  Regie wrote the final song for David Cook when he won on American Idol.

Scotty Wilbanks seems to be a man who loves life and enjoys being free and happy.  He has earned many Dove Awards for his hits in the Christian Music field.

I don’t know how these young men got together to write Something About Us, but between their beautiful song and Clay Aiken’s soaring vocals and passion, this song “gets to me”.

Stop the music, play the song
We’ll dance together all night long
The spotlight glows, somehow it knows,
That there’s something about us
Something about us

People smile when they walk by
There’s too much magic to deny
A fool can see we’re meant to be
’cause there’s something about us,
something about us

The words on every poet’s tongue
Every love song ever sung
about us, it’s about us
From Romeo and Juliet,
to plays they haven’t written yet
It’s old and new, it’s a classic tale of two
of our perfectly perfect love

You can see it in our ways
in how we spend our nights and days
A crazy laugh, a photograph
There’s just something about
something about us

The words on every poet’s tongue
Every love song ever sung
about us, it’s about us
From Romeo and Juliet,
to plays they haven’t written yet
It’s old and new, it’s a classic tale of two
of our perfectly perfect love

So stop the music, play the song
And we’ll dance together all night long
We’ll reminisce of moments like this
Cause there’s something about us
something about us
yes, there something about us….

Clay Aiken – The View

By musicfan123 · Comments 10159(8)http%3A%2F%2Fclaynewsnetwork.com%2F2011%2F01%2F09%2Fclay-aiken-the-view%2FClay+Aiken+-+The+View2011-01-09+09%3A03%3A17musicfan123http%3A%2F%2Fwww.claynewsnetwork.com%2F%3Fp%3D10159
Sunday, January 9th, 2011

The name Clay Aiken comes up in many conversations daily among many people.  On Saturday, a conversation that I was involved with was about Clay and his wonderful appearances on the popular daytime television show, The View.

The conversation made me think of the many times Clay has visited The View.  From what I can remember, he has appeared on the show nine different times.  Each one was fun, different and entertaining.  I hope I found them all.

7-30-03

Clay and Ruben both talked with the ladies and sang the new singles.

10-17-03

Besides singing Invisible, Clay was interviewed by a “Hot Dog” and smelled by an expert!

03-04-04

The sang The Way and even though he was not feeling well, his performance was great.

12-09-04

Sitting in the middle of a special Christmas set, Clay performed Mary Did You Know.

09-22-06

Looking dashing in his gray suit and long  hair, Clay sang Without You

01-22-08

No song for this appearance, but Clay tried to teach the Russian Dance from Spamalot to he ladies.

05-08-08

On My Way Here was a hit when Clay performed it on this appearance.

06-02-10

To me, the best performance of then all, Clay sang Unchained Melody

07-13-10

Clay was a co-host on the View.  It was cute that he actually got “bleeped” and there was a great conversation on Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell!

I am posting a YouTube of Clay’s performance of Unchained Melody. Be sure and double click on the video and leave a comment under the video on YouTube.

Clay Aiken – Is It Fall Yet?

Wednesday, September 22nd, 2010

Bring out the jackets and rakes and get ready to go apple picking. Enjoy watching the trees as the leaves start to change their color from green to yellow. Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2010 is the Autumnal Equinox, which marks the first official day of fall.

Today at 11:09 ET, the First Day of fall will start as the sun will be directly on the Equator of the Earth and the hours of day and night will be equal.

The first day of fall marks the start of shorter days and longer nights as well.

So, where ever you are and from whatever country you belong to, if and only if you are in the Northern Hemisphere countries, a very happy first day of fall to you.

I have no idea where Clay Aiken is today, but it has been reported that he has been in New York.  If he is there, I doubt he will realize it is the beginning of fall.  The weatherman predicts that it will be 85 degrees in Manhattan today.  If Clay is home in Raleigh, he will probably think it is still summer as it is supposed to be in the nineties.

It’s a stretch, I know…….but I still hope you will enjoy the following video of “Falling.”

Quote of the Day

It is not always about performance art, but about receiving positive energy from people with positive spirits. Sometimes we can see someone's spirit, and those are the people with great energy. Those are the people that get me through the day, especially on Broadway. -Clay Aiken
