I am reporting from my hotel room in Lancaster,PA. I am a very happy person right now. The Clay Aiken/Ruben Studdard Timeless Tour was amazing tonight. Everything seemed to go well.
It seemed that the venue was sold out. I didn’t see any empty seats at all. I was lucky enough to be in row G and my seat was right in the middle. The venue is beautiful with lots of leg room and comfortable seats.
The audience was enthusiastic and ready to have a good time. Everyone seemed to be dancing in and out of their seats and stood often to show their appreciation for the talented performers. The whole evening was like a big celebration between the audience and the artists.
It is almost impossible to pick out the highlights of the evening. Clay and Ruben worked the stage and the audience like seasoned performers and seemed to have as much fun as the fans. Yes, Clays speaking voice was a bit raspy. He joked that he sounded like Bea Arthur. However, he still sang well and didn’t back off at all.
A nice touch at the end of the concert during One Fine Day was the addition of a background of stars that lit up the stage. It enhanced the mood of the beautiful song.
There was a rather large crowd of people that gathered near the buses in hopes of seeing Clay emerge from backstage and board the bus. We watched as Jerome escorted many guests in and out of the backstage door. Clay’s mom was in attendance and people cheered for her as she left the area. Casey Thompson came out and signed autographs and greeted many of the fans.
About an hour after the concert, Clay exited the building and went directly to his bus. He returned shortly and greeted some of the fans who were lucky enough to be in front. Finally, with a wave and a smile, he headed for the bus.
It was an exciting evening, full of great music, lots of laughs, and wonderful friendships.
During the day, we spent time visiting the beautiful area of Lancaster. As we drove into the city, we saw the buses at the theater, we visited an Amish farm, and drove though the countryside. We even saw one of the buses leaving the parking lot of the amusement park named Dutch Wonderland. Maybe Clay and Ruben got to try a roller coaster today. You never know.
Here are a couple of pictures from the area. Concert pictures will be posted when they are available.
