The following are a few more article about Clay Aiken and Celebrity Apprentice.  Be sure you check out the previous article to see the reviews I posted late last night.

I wish I had pictures to post.. I am sure we will get them soon!!

Rolling Stone – Transparency

Arsenio Hall and Clay Aiken Vie For Victory With Help From Old Frenemies

By Dan Hyman

… For Aiken, who came in second to Ruben Studdard on American Idol back in 2003, there’s a sense of unfinished business. “This time I ain’t gonna lose,” he says. “I will sleep when it’s all over. Until then, game on!”

… The teams break off and hit the ground running. Team Clay, stocked with music-minded members, is going to put on a music-centric event. Aiken’s charity is the National Inclusion Project, a foundation he helped create that aims to help include disabled children with their non-handicapped peers. The team’s motto for their carnival-themed event is “Let’s ALL Play.” O’Day, having been picked last and snubbed by Hall, is out for revenge. “I really think Arsenio is dirt,” she says with a vindictive glimmer in her eye. “I hope Clay wins.”

… With so many contestants now back in the fold, it’d be safe to assume there would be boatloads of crazy drama. Ironically though, there’s almost none. Each former contestant, from O’Day and Giudice planning the respective events to Gibson arranging the music, appears happy to help out. Tempers do flare, however, when Aiken and Gibson go at it regarding a mural for the event that is to be painted by Gibson’s cousin. Aiken says he doesn’t want this to happen unless he can see a sketch of what it will look like. And Gibson? Well, she thinks Aiken is being a micromanaging nutjob. Tears nearly flow.

CBS NEWS – Celebrity Circuit – Transparency leaves another contestant behind

By Lauren Moraski

… Making it to the final three wasn’t easy. Aubrey O’Day surprised naysayers by staying in the game as long as she did. The pop singer stayed strong until the end, but on Sunday night, she fell short, leaving it to former late night host Arsenio Hall and singer Clay Aiken to duke it out.

… Both teams hustled to prepare for the final event, with Aiken tapping Gibson to arrange music, and Hall suggesting that Magic Johnson appear in his PSA.

US Weekly – Clay Aiken, Arsenio Hall Advance to Finale

By Allison Corneau

… Here’s hoping history doesn’t repeat itself for Clay Aiken.

Earning a spot in Donald Trump‘s final two on The Celebrity Apprentice Sunday, Aiken, 33, will face off against pal Arsenio Hall, 56, for bragging rights on next week’s live finale show.

… “I am not that heavy!” Hall joked, referring to Aiken’s 2003 Idol competitor Ruben Studdard.

… Later, O’Day channeled her anger to help Aiken plan a carnival-themed variety show and 30-second charity PSA, along with Penn Jillette, Debbie Gibson, and Dee Snider.

OMG from Yahoo – Celebrity Apprentice Shocker- Aubrey O’Day Is Fired

By Kim Jacobs Walker

… Donald Trump took a stand for professional behavior this week on “The Celebrity Apprentice,” and shocked a lot of viewers who expected Aubrey O’Day to advance to the finale. The Donald fired her.

… Aubrey, like Narcissus, was too busy admiring her own reflection in the pool of creative ideas she contributed to recognize that others shared in the successes of each project. Aubrey was all about Aubrey. Matlin and Rich found her motivations “transparent,” and her behavior immature.

… Surprisingly, Clay seems to be having a harder time managing his team. Trying to rein in Aubrey’s copious ideas for decorating the venue got him into a lather, which carried over to his interactions with Debbie. Aubrey wanted to paint the walls, which Clay thought was overkill. Debbie tried to help by offering to get her cousin, a professional mural painter, to do the job for them.

As the day progresses, I will add more info when it becomes available.  There are many other articles out there, but they really are short and have very little special things to say.  The hardest thing this week is finding pictures.  I will continue to look for them!!

The Latest Adventure of Clay Aiken – Part 2

By musicfan123 · Comments 16028(15)http%3A%2F%2Fclaynewsnetwork.com%2F2012%2F04%2F30%2Fthe-latest-adventure-of-clay-aiken%2F+The+Latest+Adventure+of+Clay+Aiken+-+Part+2+2012-05-01+01%3A07%3A26musicfan123http%3A%2F%2Fclaynewsnetwork.com%2F%3Fp%3D16028

Today has been a busy day and the comments are both good and interesting for the latest adventures of Clay Aiken on Celebrity Apprentice.  As always, there are those who love Dayana Mendoza and are disappointed that she was eliminated from the show.  However, most of the sites seem to understand the frustration that she caused to her teammates.  SO…..HERE WE GO !!  Part 2 of  Jingle All The Way Reviews

Television Blend – Celebrity Apprentice Power Rankings:  Arsenio Hall Tries To Manage Aubrey

By Jessica Grabert & Mack Rawden

Clay has been at the top of the Power Rankings for a few weeks and this week he is still the leader.  This is what Jessica and Mack say:

#1) Clay Aiken (34): Partway through the challenge, both Clay and Lisa were at the end of their ropes with Dayana. The Miss Universe winner was giving Clay tips on how to perform, Lisa instructions on how to write and the backing group strange commands like make the song more pink. The way Clay and Lisa responded to the situation is a good indication of why he’s on top and she’s noticeably lower. Apart from one angry exchange with the model to prove his point, Clay largely stayed out of the fray, put his head down, did his job and acted respectfully in the boardroom. Lisa, well, she was another story. It takes at least a bit of professionalism to succeed on Apprentice, and Clay is wonderful at knowing when to bite his tongue.

I always enjoy reading the Power Rankings.  You can read the entire article at TVBLEND

Starpulse.com – Dayana Mendoza Takes Her Final Cat Walk

By Roxanne Tellier

… Trump wonders which team will have the advantage. After all, there’s Clay Aiken, who’s one of the great singers… But Arsenio points to Aubrey, and the Donald remembers, “We think of you as Playboy cover. It’s actually singing, isn’t it?” Ouch! Burn, Aubrey!

… Clay says that jingles typically begin with finding a melody, to which words are added. He’s getting frustrated, knowing that he should have been in charge of the task, and is insulted when Dayana suggests that they should call Debbie Gibson for help.

Clay wonders if they should go with a “Teen Angel,” sixties style music concept. Dayana adds that they can then switch it up a little bit and take it to the eighties. Lisa and Clay, horrified at her suggestion, continue working on the sixties sound. Dayana’s frustrated that her ideas are not being accepted.

… Forte’s Clay wants to get a feel for their song before the musicians arrive. Dayana begins snapping her fingers, trying to find a beat, and suggests something along the lines of Duran Duran. Clay and Lisa just wish she’d get out of the way. Dayana finally agrees with the sixties groove, but wonders if the musicians could make the sound a little less flat. Clay begins to lose it, as Dayana’s lack of musicianship pushes him over the edge. He knows Dayana wants to be involved, but can’t figure out why she won’t defer to someone who actually knows what they’re doing.

Dayana just keeps throwing in suggestions to the musicians. “Add some pink. And yellow. Could there be some red?” The musicians wonder what on earth she’s talking about.

…Trump asks Clay if Dayana’s success as Miss Universe had any impact on the project, and Clay says they didn’t see that on this task. After this task, and the way she handled it, it’s hard for him to have respect for Dayana. She micromanaged things that she knew nothing about.

New York Daily News – Aubrey O’Day and Dayana Mendoza are menaces to project management

Jingle competition strikes sour note among Forte Members

By Joyce Chen

…The lesson to be learned from this week’s “Celebrity Apprentice” is two-fold.  First, don’t let Aubrey O’Day out of your site if you value your position as project manager, and second, don’t let Dayana Mendoza get in your way if you value your position as project manager.

…The former “American Idol” contestant is sad to see his buddy Penn out of the picture, but can now clearly see the pot of gold, er, oversized check, at the end of the tunnel.  Ironic, though, that he and Arsenionare the two last men standing, he notes, even though the men’s team had hit the ground running at the start of the competition.

…But here’s a chance for Clay to really shine:  the challenge for this week involves creating a 90-second jingle for Good Sam’s Roadside Assistance, something that’s right up obnoxious-and catchy Clay’s alley.

…Clay and Lisa try their best to be diplomatic with Miss Universe, but it’s clear that their patience is wearing thin with the Venezuelan beauty.  Her string of bad suggestions just never ends.

…She peers over Lisa’s shoulder as she’s trying to write the script and even goes so far as to tell Clay how to sing the jingle.  And don’t nobody do that to Clay Aiken, “American Idol” superstar!  The bubbly singer is noticeably irked, flaring nostrils and all.  Clay is now 100 percent on Lisa’s side.

Rolling Stone – Jingle All The Way

The ‘Dirty Half-Dozen’ stuck by the side of the road

by Dan Hyman

…The other team is having issues of its own. “Dayana doesn’ t know the difference between jingle and ‘jingle all the way’, ” Lisa Lampanelli says.  From the start, Clay Aiken and Lampanelli drive the team’s creative vision.  Mendoza, meanwhile, continues to prove to be a weak player.  ANd her teammates are done putting up with her idiocy.  How bad is Mendoza on this task?  Lampanelli and Aiken suggest a Sixties, Frankie Valli-style jingle.  Mendoza listens to a group of session musicians play a melody on that fashion and suggests adding “more read and yellow.  ”Duran Duran and rhumba.”

Hyman’s article can be found at ROLLINGSTONE

CBS – Celebrity Circuit – Three cheers for the jingle

by Mary-Jayne McKay

…What did she do wrong?  For starters, she put herself, and not her team, first by pleading to lead the task.  It was clear from the start that it was beyond her.  In the van after getting the task, she showed that she had no idea what a jingle was when she asked her teammates whether it wasn’t a Christmas task (think “Jingle Bells”).

…Aiken and Lampanelli were kind when they told host Donald Trump that they had to waste precious minutes giving Mendoza a crash course in musicology.  Here’s some of the things they did mention…

1.  When Aiken suggested a ’60s sound, she agreed but suggested they could bring it up into the ’80s.

2.  When the band played a sample song, she asked if they could add more pink. (Was she talking about the singer or the color? Who knows?)

3.  She asked for lyric changes that would have thrown off the timing of the melody.

4.  She kept insisting on using the word “track,” when the Good Sam assistance they were promoting wasn’t for trains but for TVs.

…Aiken told the Trumps he wouldn’t use the same language but he did suffer from the same feelings as Lampanelli.

Reality Blurred – Don’t tell Aubrey O’Day, but on Celebrity Apprentice, she’s just like Dayana Mendoza.

by Andy Dehnart

…The two people who got the most attention on last night’s Celebrity Apprentice were Dayana Mendoza and Aubrey O’Day.  On the surface, they seem like very different people: Dayana thought a jingle was a version of “Jingle All The Way,” while AUbrey has actually written every jingle ever used, ever, all while doing cancer research during her many trips into burning buildings to save orphans.

…When she did that during the jingle-writing task, that led to both more yelling from Lisa and gave us more of what has become a highlight of this season: Clay Aiken reactions.  Both in the moment (he made faces behind her back) and in intervieews, he is hilarious and ridiculously quotable – so quotable I just stopped writing down things he says, because there are too many and they’re much better in context.  Once again, Celebrity Apprentice helps us see a celebrity in an entirely new way.

NJ.com – Like the blind leading the seeing

by Vicki Hyman/The Star-Ledger

…When the musicians show up and they narrow down the jingle style to the mid-’60s Four Seasons, Dayana suggests adding “a little bit pink into it, yellow? Something a little more…not as flat?”  Even giving her a pass for the language barrier, it’s still pretty annoying.  She then tries to direct Clay in the recording booth, and instructs Lisa to “sound a little cuter, not so scary.”  Dayana also suggests having one person dressed as a hippie, because, after all, it’s the 60′s  The Four Seasons played at Wood stock, right? “It was not like the blind leading the blind,” Clay says.  ”It was like the blind leading the seeing.”

…At the rehearsal space, Clay gets prickly when Dayana tries to give him some staging suggestions.  Dayana backs off:  ”I’ll just sit here and when you’re done, I’ll clap.”

… At the performance, Clay is dressed in a plaid jacket and has hair slicked back; the back-up singers and dancers are in polka-dot dresses and headbands.  The mascot Good Sam comes out and the dancers dance around him.

…Trump asked Clay whether Dayana’s background and popularity as Miss Universe helped on a task like this. Huh? What a weird question.  Um, no, Clay says.

…Clay says it’s hard to have respect for Dayana after this task, and she should have put herself into a supportive role as opposed to being a micromanager.

It is always amazing how many articles and reviews are posted about Celebrity Apprentice.  Many of the sites have polls too.  I hope you will try and visit the sites and enter the poll.

I am sure there will be more Tuesday.  It always takes a bit before all the sites publish their ideas.  I will post the links as soon as I can.

CBS News – Celebrity Circuit – Contestant Pulls A Disappearing Act

By Mary-Jayne McKay

… Then again, as Aikin pointed out early in the episode, Jillette had demurred on leading the project and then showed with his ideas that he could have done so quite competently.

… Aikin, for his part, avoided the mistake that got Paul Teutel Sr., fired last week. When Trump said the judges didn’t like the slogan, he brought its creator back to the boardroom.

New York Daily News – Aubrey Rubs Her Success In Everyone’s Faces, Penn Does Final Disappearing Act

By Joyce Chen

… It turns out to be a battle of the gingers once more, with Aubrey heading up Team Unanimous and Clay taking the reins for Team Forte.

… “I noticed that Penn like to pitch and repitch his ideas,” Clay observes, eventually caving under what he calls “leading by consensus” and going with Penn’s magical ideas.

… “I can’t fire Dayana,” the curiously coiffed mogul tells Clay. “And I won’t fire you, Clay.”

Rolling Stone – Sweet Smell of Success / And What’s The Fragrance of Failure?

By Dan Hyman

… The project managers for this week are Clay Aiken and O’Day.

… Unfortunately, Clay Aiken isn’t feeling this idea (Damn you, Clay!) “This is not a porno cover,” the singer says, to the disgust of men across the country.

… Despite deferring project-manager duties to Aiken, team member Penn Jillette takes an authoritative role, much to Aiken’s disgust. Jillette also comes up with their slogan for the fragrance: “You Earned It.”

… Aiken must bring back two of his teammates to the boardroom and spare the other. He decides to bring back Jillette – because the magician came up with the team’s horrible slogan – and Mendoza for, well, just being her.

USA Today – LIFE LINE LIVE – Trump Makes Tough Celebrity Apprentice’ Firing Choice

By Ann Oldenburg

… Clay Aiken was project manager of his team, which included Dayana Mendoza (who as been called beautiful so many times that we’d be as rich as Trump if we had a dollar for every one), Penn Jillette and Lisa Lampanelli.

… Clay’s team lost largely due to Macy’s execs not liking the team’s slogan – “You earned it” – for the display. Because the slogan was Penn’s idea, Clay brought him and Dayana, who posed for a display photo that was deemed too large, back to the boardroom.

LIFELINE is the link to this short article.

ZAP2iT – It Happened Last Night

By ZAP2it

… Project Managers: Aubrey and Clay, that latter taking the mantle after Penn basically abdicates. Clay won his previous PM duel with Aubrey, it’s noted.

… Penn, despite not being PM, is kind of steamrolling the brainstorming process. Penn likes “You Earned It” as a slogan…

… Clay is also slightly dubious of “You Earned It” as a slogan, but the whole group really does like it.

… Clay enthuses about his whole team, and Lisa says Clay is one of the top 2 project managers she’s ever worked for, putting him in rarefied company with Her Aubreyness.

… Clay then brings up the “bigger balls” of him taking PM at Penn’s request. Trump is, I think, waiting for Penn to mix it up, but he merely continues to smile smugly.

The following are a few more reviews of Clay Aiken and Celebrity Apprentice.  Be sure and check out the article below this one as there are some great links for reviews.  It’s so much fun to read about the talented Mr. Aiken.  I am only quoting Clay related parts.

…Taking on the role of project manager, the bitter comedian showed her funny side, for once, during a puppet show that also featured the surprisingly versatile and entertaining Clay Aiken, marking Lampanelli’s first win as PM.

CBS News – Celebrity Circuit

By Mary-Jane McKay

…Fireworks began almost immediately when Lisa Lampanelli returned from last week’s boardroom crowing about the dismissal of Lou Ferrigno. Clay Aikin thought that was a tad harsh and Lampanelli turned her venom on him.

…The task involved creating two puppets and using them in an improv puppet show for adults. On one team Lampanelli and Aikin handled the puppets and magician Penn Jillette was host…

...Who knew Aikin was so good at improv? He was performing with Lampanelli who has a 22-year career in the comedy business, and his joke stole the show.

Rolling Stone – “I’m Your Puppet”

By Katy Kroll

…Trump moves Clay over to the other team, so each now has four contestants.

…While Lisa will stick her hand up a puppet’s butt and give it life, Penn cannot, as he’s deemed too tall to be a puppeteer, so he’s relegated to host. Filling his void is Clay, who tells his new teammates he used to puppeteer at his church. Alrighty then . . . who can argue with that?

…After a heated argument, Dayana walks outs crying. Then Lisa loses it, calling Clay and Penn out for not having her back. In reality, they probably played their cards best by keeping their mouths shut and watching the fight unfold. Where’s the popcorn when you need it?

…The night of the performance, Clay does amazingly well, although he and Lisa get a little too raunchy in their dialogue.

Newsobserver.com  - Happiness is a warm TV

by brookecain

…Thanks to “Celebrity Apprentice,” we now know that Clay Aiken can do almost anything.  He can sing (of course) and he can act. He can also write, direct, design and produce.  But the coolest thing Clay has done so far this season, is display his mastery as an improvisational puppeteer.

…Right before the show, Clay innocently suggested that Dayana be given something to do and Lisa went berserk. As Clay said, “She went from zero to 60 in a second.” Dayana started crying and left the dressing room. Heck, I probably would have, too. Lisa is pretty mean to Dayana. Always.

…Clay’s show with Lisa and Penn was fantastic, and I have to say, Clay was the best part (Clay is manning the blue puppet at right). The voices, the quick sense of humor, the handling of the puppet — he’s a natural!

…Donald Trump made the decision to move Clay Aiken over to Lisa’s team to balance things out. He probably took notice just how much Arsenio and Clay were getting along and wanted to split them up. This works out in Aubrey’s favor, because she would have been dead in the water if the team was left with Clay, Arsenio, and Aubrey down the road.
…They go back in and focus on the task at hand; creating a great puppet show. Penn will be the host, while Lisa and Clay will work the puppets. They end up creating a damn good show, which impresses the folks from the Jim Henson playhouse. Clay and Lisa had awesome chemistry. I’m wondering why Clay isn’t an actor. He has some serious skills and a great personality to boot.
…I figured this week that Lisa would be due for a win and either Paul or Teresa would be the odd ones out. Lisa is just simply too talented to keep on losing. And, she let her talents do the talking this week as she and Clay put on a hell of a show. The folks at Jim Henson’s company decided they had the better show.

…in this particular challenge, Team Forte truly lived up to its name, as Lampanelli’s comic timing and singer Clay Aiken‘s showmanship buoyed them to a win.

…Meanwhile, over at Team Forte, Clay Aiken is adapting to the “piss and vinegar” that make up Lisa’s personality by playing court jester, and the team seems to be getting along relatively well.

…The tension escalates the next day, when Lisa goes – in Clay’s words – “from zero to 60.”  One moment she’s not stressing, the next she’s screaming at Dayana, and the next she’s blaming Penn and Clay for not stepping in to interfere and then, oh no! she’s in tears.

…But she manages to reel it in for their performance just moments later, and the comedienne and Clay go “balls to the wall” with their puppetry.

Clay Aiken – Who Is In It To Win

I am trying to catch up and post some more interesting article about the 4th episode of Celebrity Apprentice.  I think I might be a bit busy!!

Rodney Ho reported on Clay’s participation on Episode 4.  Rodney writes an American Idol blog for Access Atlanta.  Roday says:

Clay Aiken on “Celebrity Apprentice” is clearly “in it to win it,” as Randy might say.

After four episodes, he’s shown to be catty at times but bright, cunning and hard working, all good attributes to succeed on this show. Last week, he felt George Takei wasn’t leading very well and implied this to one of Donald Trump’s sons without actually saying so by giggling a bit when asked the question. He also didn’t follow a gay stereotype by knowing a lot about fashion, the topic of last week’s challenge.

This week, Clay didn’t do much to draw attention. With the men’s team losing for the second week in a row, the spotlight was squarely on Michael Andretti (ousted for not helming a car-related project), Adam Carolla (who took the second bullet as project manager) and Lou Ferrigno (who survived despite the fact his teammates find him useless.)

Clay has made a few sly references to “Idol.” Last night, he said at one point to Trump that the boardroom is far rougher than any “Idol” elimination.

Good to read a article that sees that Clay is playing the game well.  Please visit AccessAtlanta.  Rodney has a lot of information about American Idol and usually posts info about alumni.

Radar Online published an article about the double elimination…too bad they didn’t mention Clay.  You can read the article at RADAR

Rolling Stone also posted a long article about the show.  They talk a lot about Trump firing 2 people.  ROLLING STONE

ESPN Page 2  has an interesting article about Michael Andretti and his departure from Celebrity Apprentice.  by Lynn Hoppes wrote:

On Monday morning, racing legend Michael Andretti still was in a state of shock about being fired from NBC’s “Celebrity Apprentice” on Sunday night.

“If you watch the clip, you’ll see that I really was upset,” said Andretti, who had been on the elimination-style competition show for more than a month. “I had the feeling that they wanted to get me off the show.”

Andretti’s team was asked to promote the new Buick Verano. Everyone thought Andretti, with his racing background, was going to make the presentation, but the quiet son of Mario Andretti allowed comedian Adam Carolla to take the lead. Carolla flopped and was fired, but host Donald Trump said someone else should go too, and that was Andretti.

“His reason that we didn’t use our people correctly is bogus. It was all pretty confusing,” said Andretti, who is chairman, president and CEO of Andretti Autosport and runs two full-time driver programs in the IndyCar series. “I wanted to start screaming. It was very surprising.”

Andretti, who felt bad that his Racing for Cancer charity wasn’t going to receive the eventual prize money, said he wouldn’t rule out another role on reality TV.

“I came off pretty much the way I am. I’m not the kind of person who stirs up controversy. The only thing I didn’t like in the editing was it was showing me standing around a lot. I was always working,” Andretti said. “I’m disappointed more for my charity. I’m glad I did the show and the experience was a good one. I came away with a lot of friends.”

And the eventual winner will be?

“I think Clay Aiken,” Andretti said, “who is in it to win it.”

Clay Aiken – Good, Bad, Cunning and Strong!

This post is coming to you from 2,580 miles from my home.  Early Thursday morning, I flew from California to New York.  I am here and ready to have a great time seeing Clay as a judge one night and a narrator another night. I imagine that Clay will be amazing in both roles.

The problem with long plane rides is that I am almost asleep as I sit here at my computer.  I had to get up at 4AM to get my flight…add the time difference and even a piece of cheesecake from Juniors didn’t wake me up!!

BUT……….there is fun news so I will do what I can. Hopefully, there will be no glaring spelling mishaps!!

It seems that Donald Trump was a guest on the Today Show, Thursday morning.  The following is the paragraph that accompanies the video:

Video on TODAY.com: Donald Trump tells TODAY’s Matt Lauer that he’ll do whatever he can to help Mitt Romney in his presidential race, and also discusses the latest season of “Celebrity Apprentice,” on which, he says, Clay Aiken is coming on surprisingly strong and nasty.

Nasty??  Clay Aiken??  Well,I love the words a fan found that the dictionary has listed under Nasty:  Tasty, Good, Bad, Cunning and Strong!!!!

So…nasty sounds good to me!! And here is the video:

Did you see the article at Rolling Stone?  The following is what they had to say about Clay.

Clay Aiken

Age: 33

Claim To Fame: The doe-eyed North Carolina-native welled America’s hearts with his beatific balladry on Season Two of American Idol. (He ultimately took second-place to Southern big-boy Ruben Studdard). Aiken has since released six full-length albums, performed on Broadway and after coming out as openly gay in 2008, has become an outspoken activist for gay rights.

What To Expect: Don’t let the fact that he sings like a mermaid misguide you; if preview clips are any indication, this ginger-topped crooner’s got some bite behind that boyish charm. How he matches up with The Donald, however, might be a different story.

This week’s Entertainment Weekly rated Celebrity Apprentice as #4 in The Top 10 Must See List!

QUOTE:

CELEBRITY APPRENTICE
Donald Trump always says that this season’s cast of Celebrity Apprentice is “the best ever”, but with Clay Aiken, Lisa Lampanelli and George Takei (pictured), we’re inclined to believe that he’s right!

So sorry that I have somehow misplaced the link to this so you could see the entire article.  Maybe I will find it after a bit of sleep.

Did you have a chance to see the latest video of Clay and Kelly singing together the other night?  The performance is great and it is so much fun to see how excited the audience was when they saw Clay enter the stage.    ENJOY!!

Clay Aiken – Defining Moments!

Tonight, American  Idol kicks off its 11th season.  It has been reported that the season will show 8 audition shows…WOW…that’s a lot of  ”Bad” singers.

As part of the promotion for the season, many of the popular Internet sites are posting articles about former  American Idol finalists.  The following articles mention my favorite American Alum:

From MTV:

‘American Idol’: Where Are Katharine McPhee, Leah LaBelle Now?
We also check in with Justin Guarini, Ruben Studdard, Constantine Maroulis and more ‘Idol’ alumni before season 11 kicks off.

Season Two
The One You Know: Clay Aiken can be seen in promos for the upcoming season of “Celebrity Apprentice,” accusing a teammate of being patronizing — all in the name of charity. Although his last few albums haven’t made a big dent in pop culture, Clay still remains the fourth-best-selling “Idol” contestant ever, right behind the holy trinity. (That’s Underwood/Clarkson/Daughtry, obviously.)

MTV

The Hollywood Reporter:

‘American Idol’ Game Changers: Adam Lambert, David Cook, Clay Aiken Among the Top 10
With season 11 upon us, The Hollywood Reporter looks back at some of the defining moments that shaped the show we know today.

1. Runner-up Clay Aiken Outsells Winner Ruben Studdard

Season two was all about surprises, but who could have predicted that the fashion-challenged Clay Aiken would not only survive elimination but rise all the way to the top two? On finale night, 24 million votes were cast, but Studdard squeaked through, besting Aiken by just 134,000. Soon after, Idol fans started voting with their wallets, and Aiken’s Measure of a Man CD debuted at no. 1 with 613,000 copies sold in its first week out, easily outselling Studdard’s debut, Soulful, which tallied 400,000. Aiken’s retail victory immediately set a goal and standard for future Idol contestants that didn’t get the celebratory shower of confetti, and it put in place the oft-repeated consolation, “You don’t have to win to be a winner.” (Michele Amabile Angermiller)

Clay Aiken – It Was A News Day!!

By musicfan123 · Comments 10266(9)http%3A%2F%2Fclaynewsnetwork.com%2F2011%2F04%2F06%2Fclay-aiken-it-was-a-news-day%2FClay+Aiken+-+It+Was+A+News+Day%21%212011-04-06+08%3A25%3A58musicfan123http%3A%2F%2Fwww.claynewsnetwork.com%2F%3Fp%3D10266

Popdust is a celebrity gossip site that reports on musical artists that create and perform the biggest songs in the country.

Craig Marks is the Editor-in-Chief / Co-Founder of Popdust…

Craig served as top editor of Spin and Blender magazines.  He became music editor of CNET in 2008 and was most recently Editor-in-Chief of Billboard magazine.  He has written for GQ, Details, Rolling Stone and the New York Times.

On Tuesday, this web-magazine published a fluff piece about The 15 Best Pop-Star Pet Names.  The cute article includes pets owned by Katy Perry, 50Cent, Michael Jackson and Beyonce.  Number 13 on the list is Raleigh, the cute little dog who belongs to Clay Aiken. Poor Durham!!  I hope he is not feeling left out.  Click on the following link to see the entire list.  POPDUST

Tuesday there was an expose published on the Internet about American Idol, 19 Management, and the business side of being a contestant on the popular Fox Network show.  The web-site is titled:

Lee Bailey’s eurweb – Electronic Urban Report.  It concentrates on Black Entertainment and Urban News.

The article’s focus is on Jacob Lusk, a young black man who is a current contestant on American Idol.  The author, Mo’Kelly says that the information he is relating is from someone who worked a number of years for a number of different music labels within the industry.

Mo”Kelly feels that not winning on American Idol is a blessing in disguise for many of the Idol contestants.  He feels strongly that Jacob Lusk has the potential and talent to win, but that it would not be a good business step for him to be tied with 19 Entertainment.

In the article, Mo’Kelly says”

Presently, the winner and runner-up are required to sign an exclusive management contract with 19 Entertainment (a producer of American Idol) and variations of that agreement (for lesser money) are also offered to top finalists.  The key distinction is offered versus required!

The article is rather long and is filled with some strong suggestions about the difficulities the young singers have to face.  The following are a few interesting points made by the author.

*  Industry estimates are that Idol winners make anywhere from $650,000 to more than $1,000,000 in their first year.

*  The contracts for the winner and runner-up lock them into a 7-year deal, more than twice that of any average, first-time management contract.

*  The contract locks the artist into ancillary marketing, royalty and licensing deals which allow 19 Entertainment the ability to make money off the artist for as long as 10 years.

For Clay Aiken fans, the most interesting part of the articles says:

What has been less discussed is Aiken’s successful lawsuit to be released from his 19 Entertainment contract and subsequent ban from all Idol-related events.

Althought the article focuses on Jacob, it is full of interesting bits of news for all readers who are interested in American Idol and the singers who are the contestants.  You can read the entire album at eurweb.

I loved reading the following announcement.  Quiana Parler is a musician who supports young people and is trying to make the world a bit easier for them.  I wish I could be in Charleston tonight.

The College of Charleston Upward Bound program will present the Third Annual Jazz Benefit Concert on April 6, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. The concert will be held in Physicians Memorial Auditorium.

All proceeds will be used to help the Upward Bound program sustain the residential summer program and provide scholarship assistants to graduates.

Jazz vocalist Quiana Parler will be the featured artist. Parler’s legendary band will include Chuck Dalton; Lonnie Hamilton III; Jamie Harris; James T. Rollerson; Richard White and Joe Wilson.

The Upward Bound program is a college preparatory program designed to give students the skills and motivation necessary for success in education beyond high school. Since 1975, the College of Charleston Upward Bound program has provided special academic and cultural opportunities for students who have expressed an interest in pursuing a post-secondary education and have demonstrated the potential for success in college. In most cases, these students will be the first in their families to earn a college degree.

For additional information contact Upward Bound at 843.953.5249.

Quote of the Day

It is not always about performance art, but about receiving positive energy from people with positive spirits. Sometimes we can see someone's spirit, and those are the people with great energy. Those are the people that get me through the day, especially on Broadway. -Clay Aiken
