Clay Aiken – Catching Up

By musicfan123 · Comments 12504(11)http%3A%2F%2Fclaynewsnetwork.com%2F2011%2F10%2F12%2Fclay-aiken-catching-up%2FClay+Aiken+-+Catching+Up2011-10-12+07%3A27%3A50musicfan123http%3A%2F%2Fclaynewsnetwork.com%2F%3Fp%3D12504

I received a couple of e-mails from readers yesterday.  They did not recognize some of the pictures that I posted on Sunday.  They requested more about the pictures..Well, OK

This picture was taken at a National Inclusion Project Gala.  Yes, Clay has a bust of himself in his hands.  He was not hiding it, but it was being auctioned off as part of the fund-raiser for the night.  The bust was first seen on Jimmy Kimmel.  It was a gift to Clay from his friend Jimmy after it was used in the opening for the show.

Photoshopped at its worse…Again, this is a picture that was originally from a skit on the Jimmy Kimmel Show.  Do you remember when Clay visited Kimmel and talked about Dancing With The Stars..It was only promo for Jimmy, but Clay played along.  He wore fake facial hair that actually started to come off in the skit.  It was a cute skit so it was picked up by most of the entertainment shows.  The Insider showed this photoshopped picture as they talked about the skit.  At least that is how I remember it!!

Congratulations to Scotty McCreery.  His new album reached the #1 position on the Billboard Top 100 List for last week.  The album, titled Clear As Day sold 198,500 copies.  According to the entertainment site, Scotty is the first WINNER since Ruben that had their debut album reach the #1 position.

This made me wonder about the successful Idol alums and how their first week numbers were for their albums.  This is what I found:

1. CLAY AIKEN, Measure of a Man: 612,859 (#1)
*Season 2: 2nd place
2. RUBEN STUDDARD, Soulful: 416,589 (#1)
*Season 2: Winner
3. CARRIE UNDERWOOD, Some Hearts: 314,549 (#2)
*Season 4: Winner
4. CHRIS DAUGHTRY, Daughtry: 303,677 (#2)
*Season 5: 4th place
5. TAYLOR HICKS, Taylor Hicks: 298,199 (#2)
*Season 5: Winner
6. KELLY CLARKSON, Thankful: 297,381 (#1)
*Season 1: Winner
7. DAVID COOK, David Cook: 279,578 (#3)
*Season 7: Winner
8. FANTASIA BARRINO, Free Yourself: 240,278 (#8)
*Season 3: Winner
9. BO BICE, The Real Thing: 226,976 (#4)
*Season 5: 2nd place
10. JENNIFER HUDSON, Jennifer Hudson: 217,185 (#2)
*Season 3: 7th place

I watched Dancing With The Stars last night.  I really don’t want to say much except…Clay Aiken is so wonderfully talented.  How wonderful that he found the talented Ben Cohn to write such beautiful arrangements.

Take a minute and watch this beautiful video by SueReu.  I know I have posted it before, but it really shows off the talent of Clay, Ben and Jennifer Grey and her partners.  You will just have to smile!!

Clay Aiken – Blame The Pictures!

Do you ever have one of those days where everything you have planned goes astray?  If so, you will understand my Saturday.  Instead of sticking to my self-imposed schedule, I ended up engrossed in other things.

It has been fleet week in San Francisco this week.  Today, the Blue Angels flew over the city.  Watching them was not on my to-do list, but the sparkling blue sky and the small voices of the grandchildren asking me to join them…well, the decision was pretty easy.  If  you ever plan a trip to San Francisco, try to make it to Fleet Week.  There is nothing like seeing the Blue Angels streaking through the skies, across the bay and framed by the beautiful Golden Gate Bridge.

I tried to write when I returned home, but I got caught up in going through some fun pictures…and all of a sudden it was too late to compose a blog for today.  So… I apologize… but leave you with some great pictures…you can blame them for no article!!

No Theme – No Story!

But

Sometimes its fun to get lost in your computer!!

Have you ever watched the television show, The Insider?  Considered a news program that has become tabloid television, The Insider covers the news, celebrities and events in the entertainment field.

Clay Aiken has been a frequent visitor to The Insider.  According to what I have found, Clay has been featured on the show 45 times.  The show appeared to like Clay and it seemed that Clay enjoyed talking to Pat O’Brien, the original host of the show.  Lara Spencer also interviewed Clay when he was in New York.

The following pictures are only a few of the available pictures of Clay when he was on The Insider.  Do you remember any of these visits?

The Insider always supported Clay when he traveled for UNICEF.

On January 4, 2005,  Clay was featured as he talked about how we all could help Indonesia.

On April 5, 2005, The Insider covered Clay’s trip to Indonesia

The Insider visited Clay backstage at the Joyful Noise Tour on October 31, 2005

SMILE…On August 21, 2006 The Insider featured the ATDW photo shoot.  They showed many great shots of the photographer and Clay.

Look at some of the screen cap messages from The Insider

These are only a few of the pictures from The Insider.  I am certainly glad that they enjoyed having Clay on their program.  Those pictures are so much fun to see!!  Which one is your favorite?

Clay Aiken – Congratulations to Kristin!

By musicfan123 · Comments 10322(4)http%3A%2F%2Fclaynewsnetwork.com%2F2011%2F05%2F26%2Fclay-aiken-congratulations-to-kristin%2FClay+Aiken+-+Congratulations+to+Kristin%212011-05-26+07%3A04%3A58musicfan123http%3A%2F%2Fwww.claynewsnetwork.com%2F%3Fp%3D10322

Congratulations to Kristin Chenoweth.  Kristin made the guest list for the State Banquet at Buckingham Palace Tuesday evening.  Then, President and Mrs. Obama asked Kristin to entertain Her Majesty the Queen of England at a dinner they held last night in the Queen’s honor at the Ambassador’s official residence, Winfield House. This dinner is protocol following the Queen’s dinner in honor of the President Tuesday at Buckingham Palace.

Kristin sang some of the Queen’s favorite show tunes that included  “People Will Say We’re In Love” (OKLAHOMA), “Till There Was You” (THE MUSIC MAN) and “I Could Have Danced All Night” (MY FAIR LADY) amongst others.  She also sang some of her own songs.  It has been reported that Kristin received a standing ovation for her performance.

Chenoweth was born and raised in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.  Adopted at birth, Kristin started singing at an early age.  She earned a master’s degree in opera performance at Oklahoma City University.

In 1993, Kristin performed her first role on Broadway in a musical called Animal Crackers.  Since then, her career has been a non-stop time of hits on Broadway, in films, and on TV.

Chenoweth won the Tony, Drama Desk, Clarence Derwent and Outer Critics Circle Awards for her role as Sally in the Broadway revival of You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown. She is probably most known for her role of Glinda, the Good Witch of the North in the musical Wicked.

Kristin has had great success on television.  She spent two seasons as part of the award-winning cast of the West Wing. In 2007, she played Olive Snook in the series Pushing Daisies and won an Emmy Award for the role in 2009.  Recently, she has had a reoccurring role in the popular series, Glee.

Kristin was raised as a Southern Baptist but now calls herself a “non-judgmental, liberal Christian and does not feel she is attached to any one denomination.

The New York Times reported that when Chenoweth announced that she supports gay rights, her Christian base was outraged.  She was even dis-invited from the Women of Faith conference and where she was scheduled to sing.  Kristin says about her faith:

I think it’s important to remember that Christianity was based in love and tolerance and forgiveness and acceptance. I don’t want Christianity to be a negative word anymore. I want people to understand that there is a group of Christians out there who want to be more open and understanding and tolerant and loving of all kinds of people, even the people that don’t believe in God at all.

Last year, Chenoweth responded to Ramin Setoodeh, an openly gay writer for Newsweek.  In his review of Sean Hayes, her co-star in Promises, Promises, Setoodeh said that there was a credibility problem.  He questioned whether an openly gay actor could portray a straight character correctly.  Chenoweth called the article “horrendously homophobic” and accused Setoodeh’s view as “the same kind of bullying” that young gays face in school.  Chenoweth went on to say that audiences come to the theatre to go on a journey and do not care about an actor’s sexual orientation.  Most of the press and critics approved Kristin’s comments and it became a big story in the media.

Kristin and Clay Aiken have met each other often. Since they both have a lot in common, it is not surprising that they seem to enjoy each other.  They had their picture taken together at the 2005 Emmy Awards.  That was the evening that Clay was a part of the on-site team for The Insider.

In 2010, Clay attended a performance of Promises, Promises and went backstage after the performance to congratulate Kristin for her performance.  Kristin, who is very active on Twitter said in a comment, “He’s so adorable!”

Congratulations to Kristin for the honor of singing for the Queen.  She certainly is a talented lady and I am sure she represented the United States in a positive and exciting way.

Clay Aiken Goes Back to Basics: New Album Details

Clay Aiken is making a musical comeback with a new album, and ET has all the info on his fifth studio album, Tried and True!

Clay chose the title Tried and True because the album will be filled with timeless classics.

“There are a lot of elements to this album that are about me returning to what I’m comfortable with,” he says. “To me, older songs are more melodically appealing and beautiful. So doing this album was an opportunity to just be myself.”

The album will include old-time favorites such as the swinging album opener “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You,” made famous by Frankie Valli; “Misty,” the Johnny Mathis hit, and a soulful rendition of Elvis Presley‘s “Suspicious Minds.” The album also features two songs Clay sang while on “American Idol”: “Mack the Knife” and “Unchained Melody.”

Tried and True is set for release June 1.

As we get more news, we’ll be sure to update you!  In the mean time, enjoy this Amazing Monday!

On 12/26/04, an earthquake in the Indian Ocean caused a tsunami that left more than 122,000 dead and about 114,000 missing in Banda Aceh.  On 3/14/05, Clay Aiken visited Banda Aceh, Indonesia. He was there as a Goodwill UNICEF ambassador to help bring awareness to the tsunami ravaged area.

While touring Indonesia three months after the tsunami devastated vast areas of  South Asia, Clay witnessed and participated in UNICEF programs that helped children reconnect with their families, provided care for orphans, allowed children to return to school and helped prevent the spread of disease.

On April 5th, 2005, Clay was interviewed by Victoria Recando in the TV show, “The Insider.”  Besides chatting with Clay, Victoria showed a personal video diary of Clay as he visited the Banda Aceh.

The following video is from the Insider on April 5th.

Quote of the Day

It is not always about performance art, but about receiving positive energy from people with positive spirits. Sometimes we can see someone's spirit, and those are the people with great energy. Those are the people that get me through the day, especially on Broadway. -Clay Aiken
